Do some of you not know what obscure means? Lol.

I have a Mellow Yellow 420 driver. Never hit it.

Bang! I know folks who loved that head.

Anyone remember the Liquidmetal driver?

I still have an original one in the garage. I had the PJ version but sold it long ago.

How about Plop putters? I remember the fitting stand at the golf stores with the mirror and the adjustable demo club that would show what length and lie you needed.

I have one here.

One of my running partners we call Checkers still games one of those Plop putters and he is deadly with that thing too on any kind of green. When he makes a putt especially from downtown we all say "PLOP"

Back in my cart barn days, found this bad boy in the lost and found collection. We were ripping back range balls with it on full shots. Only "joke" club that I seriously considered buying.

2 years ago I played with a coworker and his buddy. Me and his buddy kept ending up the same bunkers. At the time I was really struggling with my sand game and looked like a hack. This guy pulls out the Alien Wedge and proceeds to put what seemed like every sand shot into gimmie range. By the end of the round I was searching them on eBay.

This guy was also the first person I’ve ever seen actually hit driver off the deck better than the same driver off the tee. He duffed nearly every tee shot like 40 yds then would hit the same Cobra driver like 200 off the deck.

Toski Czar irons. Mid-90s release when club designs were really a lot of fun. I think they were supposed to be forged out of Russian titanium with a brass sole. Saw a set of these once in a Madison golf store for an obscene price. Wish I would have at least hit them in the simulator.

I've looked at a set of irons on the Bay for fun. I actually have a LM putter. Never use it but it really has a rather nice feel.

I think it's pronounced Bong. Lol

How about that giant putter Jack used? If I remember correctly, it looked like a giant black Anser.

Anyone have one of them?

TaylorMade Dual Face driver, circa 1995. Obscure enough that I've been trying for 10 minutes to find a picture of one online, and have failed. I played one for a few years in the mid/late 90's. I loved it, but I was in the minority.

I'll revisit this thread and post about some irons that were neither obscure nor great. But I had a set of them.

I had a couple of McHenry Metals fairway woods that were very good.

Also...the Kasco K2k/power tornado line I'd hybrids...I am still rocking the 44 and 55 and occasionally the 22 and 33.

Mchenry Metals and Zevo clubs were cool clubs to have for a short period of time.

Don't know if this is "greatest" but you don't see many shaft over hosel irons. I played these in the mid-80's and can't recall them feeling any different or looking odd (to my eye) at address.

s-l225.jpg

Also played these multi-materials woods with a lot of offset:

https://www.worthpoi...-claw-176608882

Maybe I just didn't have good taste in golf clubs in my college days!

Went from these to Ping Eye 2 knockoff (Pal Joey's -- "custom fit" meaning stiff shaft since I was young and static floor to wrist measure so they made them 1/2" overlength which was custom fitting back in the day!) and 1-3-5 Pittsburgh Persimmons (legit Taylormades).

Pal Joey was the OEM division of the Dynacraft component company. Tom Wishon his ownself was responsible for many of those designs. I built a lot of clubs out of Dynacraft clubheads (and Apollo shafts) and would put them against anything (yes, anything) available during that time. I still have and play with a number of them and don't feel as those I am losing anything by using them.

I had a Pal Joey 3 wood in my bag for several years, should have kept it for a few more...very similar to the BB Warbird at the time, but it had a slightly more shallow face and I could hit it much better, better feel too. Great clubs at a great price for their day, as good as anything on the market quality wise. . I wish there were more companies around like this today.

Sonartec fairway woods. I had the NP-99 and that thing was so great to hit. Basically the grand daddy to the Nike Covert (maybe more like great great grand daddy).

If I don't share this with you guys who else am I going to tell?

RE: Sonartech it's interesting that Pal Joey under the name Palm Springs actually had a line of clubs that pre-dated them I can't recall what the name was I think it was something akin to Founders Clubs fresh-metals. I had the entire collection at different times.

But the 3 wood was an animal to for me actually kept it for years played em all with Dynamic Gold R or S300's

Ahhh yeah Tore Bore

These models of the Palm Springs FW metals debuted probably 1993-1995 Sonartech no earlier than 1997 I'd guess but more likely 1998-99
