JPX-900 Forged 4-GW with Accra Tour 110i + Nike 54 & 60, also KBS Tour V 125g "Limited Edition" shaf

About my JPX-900 Forged with Accra Tour 110i set:

 

- bought a new set of JPX-900 Forged irons 4-GW in the winter of 2017, shafts were removed & used in another project

- set was ordered +1/2" so would have the B-weighted, lighter heads AFAIK

- had 2 new-unused Nike VR Pro wedges on hand , 54/12 & 60/10

- all heads were reamed to 0.370 to accommodate the Accra parallel shafts

- had my club-builder order in 11 Accra Tour 110i shafts 0.370 parallels ( $75 ea ), and build to his custom lie/loft/length "TLT" spec ( Google "Dan TLT golf" for more info on Dan's TLT spec )

- gamed this set for 2017, approx 45 rounds, I always use head-covers & always clean after each round

- I have a similar set of MP-4 irons built to TLT specs in my weekend bag, love the feel of them, and score the same as my JPX-900F setup

- I want to sell this JPX-900F set and build a set of MP-18 MB for my main set -> just can't beat that Blade feeling !

- Loft & Lie are now back to stock Mizuno specs

- the Accra Tour 110i shafts are X-Stiff

- with the extra shaft on hand, you could easily soft-step them 1x ( 4-PW ) or 2x ( 5-PW ), to soften the flex if desired

- grips are black Lamkin UTX Wrap mid-size with 1 full wrap + 2 extra wraps under the lower hand.

 

*** the length of these are what is the key difference

*** the 4 wedges are built SL, and along with the short irons they are all built longer than stock

*** ^^^ this is in order to stand more athletically/consistently, and to avoid bending over a great deal as with traditional-length iron sets

*** FYI: 4i plays to 38.5", 7i plays to 37.375", 9i plays to 36.75", PW+GW+SW+LW play to 36.5" ( golf-ruler with a 60* stop)

*** FYI: SW are progressive with 4i-C7.5 to 9i-D0, GW-D2, SW-D8, LW-D9 ( can easily be increased with normal grips and less wraps )

*** with the extra shaft there is ample opportunity to soft-step, or re-build to full stock specs

 

You get 10 clubs in all, custom assembled by a great builder ( Dan's Custom Golf ), plus 1 extra new uncut Accra Tour 110i shaft

These were known as the "Limited Edition" when they got released in late 2015.

The 125g & 130g Tour V now appear on KBS's website as the "Tour Spec" S+ and X versions.

I had these soft-stepped in a set of TLT-spec MP-53 heads -> 3i-PW , along with 3 Nike wedges with the same shaft to match the set

- the 2i shaft is 37-1/4"

- the 5i shaft is 35-7/8"

- the 7i shaft is 35-3/8"

- the 9i is 34-3/4" ( FYI the 9i is factory labelled 9i-PW )

I have the original unused shaft labels as well.

I also have 3 Nike VR Pro wedges ( 50/08, 54/12, 58/06 ) shafted with the same Tour V 125g 9i-PW shaft, assembled at the same time as my previous MP-53 set.

FYI the wedges playing length are long at 36.5" , so plenty of room to butt trim to desired length.

And what a great looking set of shafts. The Accra's white/silvery graphics are hologram'ish and the carbon weave near the hands looks killer !

As my swing has changed over the season, I also now hit these a bit too low.

I'm taking some regular lessons over the winter to hopefully groove & "finalize" a swing, then will get a shaft-fit for MP-18 MB in early spring.

I like to think of TLT as building a set to a "constance stance".

Your hands are always in the same starting position, and you are standing in your most natural athletic stance ( not bent over too much, not standing too tall ).

We all have a favourite club in the bag. Regardless of whatever set I was gaming over the years, my favourite club has always been my 8i. Why is that ??? I think it is because an 8i length club, its total weight, its swingweight, etc, have me standing over the ball in my most natural un-forced stance. I'm in a position to put the easiest most repeatable swing on the club. Then let's use that 8i stance for each club in the bag, and build the club accordingly ( Length, Lie, SW or MOI-matching, etc ).
