There is nothing new under the sun. It's just the typical bulge and roll of a driver face...Louisville Golf touted this with their persimmon drivers in the 90's when competing against those new fangled steel and titanium drivers...and the masses will lap it up all over again!

This is getting crazy now...Twist Face technology? I really cannot fathom what is next....that being said, I think I need it in my bag ASAP. I mean who doesn't want to compete against Jailbreak technology with Twist Face technology?

Absolutely not true. Watch the video. It is NOT just standard bulge and roll. That’s what makes it interesting.

I've observed lots of quirks in how the bulge and roll radii change from heel to toe on various models of driver. So of them have the topline at the toe pulled back so much I can't quite square up the club.

This new TM stuff is just more obvious and extreme than most...

Peter Finch has a video up of the twist face aspect posted.....today. at 2:46 in the video he has a "blown up" example of how the face is different.

interesting part, there is a bunch of videos up posted to day on reviews and what it is...... Seems like TM let it out to many and made them wait until today =)

The high toe has MORE loft and the low heel has LESS loft than a traditional driver with traditional bulge and roll.

The reason beside it is that a high toe impact usually results in a low knuckling hook. The extra loft counters this.

Opposite is true on a low heel strike where the face tends to be open and produce a spinny weak high push slice. Less loft in the heel counters this.

I imagine it will work quite well.

Sounds like it's aimed at a certain market, those who hit high toe with a closed face, so guessing early extenders might be well covered here, and also low heels with an open face, so massive over the top territory.

I think i'll stick with the M2 for now, my miss is high toe, but if it's been set up to counter a hook, my miss of a push or a mild push slice might be even worse with these!

I had a Ping G driver that I swear had lots of extra loft out toward the high toe. The top edge of the face was swept back pretty considerably, the bottom and top lines out toward the toe differed by at least five degrees of face angle, I'd estimate.

I’m not sure if you are just trying to be funny or not.

I personally don’t care for TM woods at all. I simply find the concept interesting. It is actually tangibly different from last years offering.

It may well prove to be a problem for those people that have grooved a slightly high toe strike as their “normal” shot. I know some guys that like to purposefully play that knuckling hook as a regular tee shot.

rick shiels for one might not get along with these. He hits a high toe shot hard draw on every driver he tests.

Easy big fella...I'm having fun with you.

Roll the way back clock to about 1997 or so. Louisville Golf was marketing a persimmon driver with modern graphite shafts and touting the 'smart driver' as having more bulge and roll to help a toe shot come back to the left and a heel shot to come back to the right and will let you put more drives in the fairway.

What Taylormade is marketing may very well be real...it may very well be improved...HELL...IT MAY ACTUALLY WORK...but it's the same basic idea that was marketed 20 or so years ago...and probably even before that when woods were actually wood.

For those that think it's just bulge and roll read the Tiger Woods testing article from today.

I'd be more likely to believe a guy who doesn't change equipment that often. Would it be more credible if Phil said it? :)

Is anyone else just "whatever" about the new M3/M4 bc they are still bombing and loving their M1/M2 and don't see a change coming this season. For me, my M2 is the best driver I have ever owned and I hit it further and straighter than any previous driver. I just don't see the new $500 price tag thing happening for me this year.

Yeah, but think how much farther and straighter your mishits could be with Twist Face! Just sayin.

I remember the Adams Speedline Tech driver being a very straight driver. Just wasn’t long. If the M3 440 turns out to be an M1 440 with 8 yards less dispersion, I’d call that a winner. I’m not rushing out to replace my M1 though.

Wilson system 45? As I recall the bulge and roll was tilted 45 degrees to match most golfers mishit pattern. Maybe late 80’s?

Agreed kinda think it can be good for some and I have played the original M1. It’s was great until I broke a weld in the face. Went to a Epic Sub Zero and that’s not coming outta the bag and from what I’ve seen already this year not impressed with much of anything that’s coming out.

I'm looking forward to hearing how these perform in the hands of 'Joe' golfer. I have no horse to back here when I say that my expectation is that some will spray the ball all over and some will find nothing different in terms of performance from the previous model.

I expect that very few people will start to miraculously find the middle of the fairway utilising the same swing that in the past had always found the rough and the trees.
