Last time TM stole technology they ended up buying Adams. I hope Cobra doesn't go the same way.

I agree it seems like a rebranding of Bulge and Roll that has been around for a long time. Having not seen one up close yet and what the website tries to show it is a bit different. I can see the aspects of it being helpful for some players but not much help to better players who hit the middle more often.

 

My initial reaction would be that it's the exact opposite. I read/heard someone mention something along the lines of "Nothing will help if the swing is bad".

 

The error window for a better player is smaller. Without delving deeper, I would think that a hook is going to get hookier and a slice slicier if the swing is just that bad.

 

In saying that, I'm curious and as I mentioned in another post "sure, I'll drink the kool aid".

There is nothing new under the sun. It's just the typical bulge and roll of a driver face...Louisville Golf touted this with their persimmon drivers in the 90's when competing against those new fangled steel and titanium drivers...and the masses will lap it up all over again!

 

Absolutely not true. Watch the video. It is NOT just standard bulge and roll. That’s what makes it interesting.

I’m not sure if you are just trying to be funny or not.

 

I personally don’t care for TM woods at all. I simply find the concept interesting. It is actually tangibly different from last years offering.

 

It may well prove to be a problem for those people that have grooved a slightly high toe strike as their “normal” shot. I know some guys that like to purposefully play that knuckling hook as a regular tee shot.

 

rick shiels for one might not get along with these. He hits a high toe shot hard draw on every driver he tests.

 

If that's the case and that's the stock shot, I'd assume the player would just stay away. Unless they NEED the latest and greatest in which case it'd be a irrational decision.

I find it funny that we're all so conditioned to giving TM schizz that even when their marketing is "hey, we'll make you better by making your misses more manageable" as opposed to "you'll gain 10 yards" or "Hey we know it's been 6 months, but here's another" they're taking it from all corners

I can’t tell if people are mad because it’s a marketing ploy that doesn’t actually work, or are mad because it’s not a totally original idea that works. Meh, either way I’ll test it against my current driver just like the others that come out this year.

The only people who are "mad" over this driver are those who have a permanent mad-on for anything and everything Taylormade. And then there are the few hard-core Taylormade fan boys on the other side who want to believe it completely revolutionizes the entire driver market.

 

In between there are the majority of us who are bemused at the idea that a slight tweaking of bulge and roll shape is anything other than the flavor of the week in driver marketing.

I dont see the big deal? Cobra just added their form of turbulators this year(I believe-im not a Cobra guy) and have in the last few years just added carbon fiber which neither Cobra or TM invented. Doesn't mean they cant take someones idea and tweak it to make it better.

Agree. This is gimmicky but someone needs to point toward the manufacturer that hasn't been gimmicky. It's not just TM.
