MP-18 MMC vs. 765, opinions please

Getting the itch again, would love to hear any heads up comparisons between these two irons.

Specifically, the MMC seems to be the red headed stepchild of the mizuno lineup. A few people seem to have posted about having 1 or 2 blended into a set but i haven't seen any reviews for a full set or near full set.

I'm sure there will be some feel differences with the multimaterial vs. one piece forging. Any noticeable launch or spin differences comparing loft to loft? How about forgiveness?

Interested in hearing more reviews on the MMCs as well. Tony Romo has a full set of them in his bag this week at the pro am. I believe they are similar to the AP2s and I200s in that they fit a wide spectrum of players from pros up to 15 handicap or so.

I can't comment on a compare to the 765's, but I did end up getting fitted for a full set of MMCs recently.

I went into the new iron process expecting to want the new AP2s, and even after one session hitting them I thought I was set on those - but once I got back for a second session, the MMCs were the winners.

I think it's important to know what you're looking to accomplish with new irons - for me it was going back to a forged iron, hopefully not losing too much distance (moving from Callaway Xhot Pros), and gaining consistency in both distance/trajectory/spin. I wanted my irons to be proven better in the numbers, and visually give me confidence in what I want to do in a shot.

Very quickly, I thought the AP2s are very similar - but the AP2 had a bit "heavier" of a hit if that makes sense. The 18 SC was consistently 3-5mph lower in ball speed, so they were out on the numbers. The AP2 was out more on the fact I preferred the MMC look a bit more and that it was so close to the MMC but I could get everything custom in the MMC for no uncharge.

The great thing about this game is you can play it how you want regardless of your handicap - if you want a pure feeling traditional blade, the MMC may not be for you, but for me I wanted some tech, some forgiveness, some feel, and some traditional looks - the MMC nailed those for me.

I recently tested both and the 765's beat the MP-18 MMC's in all categories- feel/forgiveness/distance/consistency. I have been a long time Ping player but wanted to move into a forged cb's. I tested all the current player cb's and the 765's won in a landslide.

I recently moved into the MMC (Fli-hi 3 &4, MMC 5-9) from TM UDI & P770 combo set. I heavily considered the Z765 and in testing found these two iron models to perform very similarly. Both sets offer forged feel with added forgiveness, with the MMC just a bit longer in blade length and height. What drove me to the Mizuno combo as opposed to the Z765 was purely cosmetic. I just couldn’t get comfortable with the rounded edges and toe area of the Z765. The Mizunos to my eye just look great but both sets are extremely good.
