Have a look at the April 30th MC rates! $125 on the weekend. Likely to push most public play out and possibly players club too. Not that public can even get a tee time.

$100 for players club. I may be cutting my MC play back at this point too.

Yeah that stings a little.  The crazy part is that the pricing isn't even out of line compared to the insane prices at some lesser courses.

On weekends Swaneset is 90+.  Redwoods 95 after 8am.  Pagoda is $90.  Ridge is $120. Canal $100 (as of May 10).

When you put it in that context it's not too over the top.

Conditions were immaculate today, but with greens running slower than  usual.

Redwoods today.  I always love playing there and enjoy the layout since it leads to fun and memorable shots.  Course was drier than expected after yesterday's rain so that was a pleasant surprise.  We had a great skins game that came down to the wire.  Other than a complete meltdown on #4 I played solid.

A few negatives though:

1) pace of play wasn't good.  Teeing off around 7AM I'd expect faster than 4:30. Lots of waiting.

2) Greens were bumpy.  Seems like they needed more sand post-aeration.  They weren't overly slow or anything, just very bobbly.

3) Most of the tees were all a box forward.  Felt like the whites were on the red box and blues were on the white box all day (This is a strange pet peeve of mine).

We agreed that we want to go back, but we aren't in a hurry to do so.

Prices are nuts. But Morgan is materially better than all of those courses, and with range balls included is actually a bit less than Ridge. That said I’ll prob only play it once or twice more this season.

Those adequate (and they're nothing more than that*) courses are absolutely taking the p 1 s s with those rates. Supply and demand sure fantastic, but have people really not spent that much extra discretionary income the past 9-12 months?

*I've not played Ridge in literally decades so cannot really say, maybe it's marginally better than that, but the rest aren't.

Ponied up the $125 to play The Ridge on the long weekend.  Course was in great shape all around.  Greens were rolling beautifully, fairways were smooth, and bunkers were nice and fresh.  Rough was brutal & long, requiring many "punch outs" from a yard or two off the fairway.

The par 5s are a lot of fun there (probably since 2 of them are basically par 4s), and other than #9 the whole course is a treat.

Pretty nice turnaround from last time I played Northview.

What a deal....NOT.

Haven't played Northview in a while.

Not willing to shell out for what Chick Stewart wants.

Yeah, definitely not a value play.  Even better is when they tried to sell me 35 beat up range balls for an additional $10.  Get real.

Unfortunately, for weekend warriors like me, it appears that $100 is the new $70 regardless of where we play.

Chick Stewart sticking it to everyone....what a JOKE....$10 for 35 beat up balls.

Riverway & Burnaby Mtn just bought around 80000 new golf balls....$6 taxes in 50 balls.

If I had to pony up for a "nicer? course, considering I paid $90 for a POS of a golf course in Swan, I would gladly pay $125 for an immaculate Ridge or Morgan. I will agree though that it's ridiculous that they charge for a warm up bucket at that price with those balls on terrible dirt.

Golf prices because of Covid are out of control.

Pre-Covid with my Red Book discount.....I could play late twilight at Swaneset for $17 to $25 taxes included.

The only places who have kept prices in line are the muni's in Burnaby and Vanc.

You know those moments where you think you might actually still be sleeping... or maybe drunk... or maybe concussed... well...

This is some mailer via golfnow for a pretty crap (well it used to be anyways) course near San Jose, CA.

I had no clue there were enough Silicon Valley Canadians clambering for this for it to be a thing... not sure GVRD courses will be serving up poutine next week ☺️

It makes you wonder if we’ve been spoiled for so long with, what feels like, subsidized prices for a round of golf. Sorry to say but $17 for a round of golf is a massive loss to the course that will have to maintain 50 acres of land.

The munis are a perfect example be cause they are subsided by our tax dollars.

Once the border opens and a large part of the golf community goes back to playing in the US, getting tee times will hopefully improve.

I’m lucky that I have a membership, but still, I hear what some of my buddies are going through to get a tee time, and then at what cost.

Hopefully people will remember who the gougers were and stick it to them when things start to slow down.
Northview for one will not see me back in a hurry. We have an annual social golf group tournament and the organizers like it there, but other than that, no thanks. For the record, Chick Stewart is apparently in rough shape medically, so it’s the family that is taking the decisions.

I don't see tee times easier to get once the border opens up.

I also don't see us getting back to pre-Covid levels and I think many of these new golfers will stick around.

Ya....Northview = ripoff.....even before Covid.

Another one gouging is West Coast Golf Group.

But it's all supply vs, demand.

Only the muni's aren't gouging us....BM & Riverway are the best values...but IMPOSSIBLE to get tee times.

Dunno, a lot of people that live in the southern part of Surrey play their golf in the US. I played a lot of golf at Semiahmoo as my friend is a member there. I probably know more than a dozen people that are members there and a ton of folks that play Homestead and North Bellingham as their primary course. This was because of cost, always been good value, despite the conversion rate.

I'm not from the area but play most of my golf at Morgan. I've been paired up many people who share this sentiment

It's not. You still have to walk towards the range and then cut across 18.

Was talking to someone there this week, who said rumours were they were waiting for an insurance claim payout to fix it.

The cheek to charge their current rates across their 4 courses and not go out of pocket now and bank the claim later on.

Played Fraserview Saturday.   Course was awesome, just starting to brown out a little, playing firm.  Pace of play was a disgrace, basically 5 hours at 7am.

Heading up to Kamloops with the boys this weekend for some golf.  Hopefully the fires and smoke don't get out of hand before then.  The increased cost of golf down here has made these interior/island/whistler trips so much easier to justify.
