A few things went into the decision:

 

- i coached a kid whose father is a member there; could possibly get more than one look in practice rounds.

- I've played it quite a few times and aside from one par 3, the course is very scoreable.

- something about the layout is positive for me. Lots of doglegs I've cut before, just, visually a solid pick for me.

The reason for the Northern bias in the NJSGA events is because the majority of the courses in the south are members of GAP. Most opt to not be involved with the NJSGA. There are some that are members at both. The south not having the quality of courses comment is ridiculous to me,

there are some doglegs - there are a few holes you want to know where to miss. there's a 225+ length par 3 (9th hole i believe) that is devilsh if you're in the wrong spot on the green; and a few par 4's that you want to see before playing. completely up to you obviously but, it'd be worth the trip to play once before.

Right now playing in the Hawk Pointe qualifier. Have a friend whos brother is a member, so gonna try and get out once or twice for a practice round. Wanted to play in the 4 ball, but don't have a partner, and not sure my game is sharp enough this early in the season. I coach all of march and april, so not tons of practice time for myself.

 

I'll also be playing the pub-links qualifier at Galloping Hill. I might play the Amateur qualifier at Edgewood. It's about 3 miles from my house, and $150 to play that course is worth it even if I have no hope of qualifying.

Question for you guys who play a decent amount of NJSGA events. How many people bring their own caddies to these. I was thinking of bringing my brother along to be on the bag, but don't want to be "that guy" if he's the only caddie, I'll just ride if that's the case, but tend to play a little better when I walk.
