Planning a Golf Trip to Streamsong this Summer...

Hi guys,

My buddies and I are contemplating a trip to Florida to play Streamsong this Summer (June). Have read quite a few reviews (mostly good - some players really do not like the latest course - Streamsong Black very much).

Anyways, wanted to get any feedback from my fellow WRXers and see what you guys thought. just FYI - we all shoot in the high 70s / low 80s.

Going to be hot as heck. Drink plenty of fluids (no alcohol). I have been contemplating going this summer as hell. No plans yet, but rates are cheap. Just be aware of aerification.

Black was my favorite course. The courses may not look or play as they were designed because it will be a lot rainier that time of year. The caddies helped a lot with lines and the overall experience.

it will absolutely play as intended during summer time with the rain; it drains there better than any course i've ever played; we played a weekend after a tropical storm passed thru and it was the same

heck, it rolled the same after an afternoon thunderstorm; within minutes. don't hesitate; only thing to worry about is lightning since there's no shelter.

That’s good to hear. It rained overnight during my visit in January and played noticeably different after the rain.

i played january 1st when it was raining middle of the round. fairway still ran the same.

Do it! It will be hot, but their summer rate is one of the best golf deals in the country. All 3 courses are great. I rank Blue, Red, Black. But wouldn't complain about any. Get a caddie, it is worth the 100+ bucks per round. Not the easiest walk. If you don't take a caddie, carry. Draggin a pushcart around that property is not fun because of the sandy/mulchy paths between holes. I have never taken a cart there, you definitely can though. I know a lot of people who walked the morning round and road in the afternoon.

I ranked black 3rd, but it is truly different than anything I have ever played. I have played the other 2 multiple times, but when I played back I was just taken back by what it was. Completely different experience.

Thanks for all the replies so far guys. A couple of thoughts:

I'm from Oklahoma and our summers are typically 100+ with 80% humidity, so the "warm" weather will not affect us :taunt:. But we will definitely stay hydrated. Plenty of sunscreen too.
As mci711 noted - We will probably walk in the AM and then take a cart in the afternoon. Definitely 36 holes / day.
Glad to hear that there's no aeration @ SS.

If you are walking, bring gold bond and a change of socks. Walked 36 holes there and you will need it, believe me. I used a rickshaw as well. Its probably a 14 mile walk playing both the Red and Blue.

I walked 17 miles from the time I got out of my car and to the time I got back in. Played red and black, and like 4 of the new practice holes. It is definitely a hike. You using a pushcart makes it even harder, in my opinion.

I hope you aren’t constantly interrupted by lightning/thunder like my Dad was. I went in October 2014 and didn’t have weather problems, but even then it was quite hot and steamy. It’s walkable but not an easy walk if you play 36. It’s pretty neat.

may is so much better. June is when we have daily afternoon thunderstorms. June, July and first 2-3 weeks of August is afternoon thunderstorms. September to mid november is hurricane season.

Went 2 years ago, The black was in the beginning stages but it was an amazing trip. Courses, facilities, and service is top notch. The place is in the middle of nowhere, so here are a couple suggestions. Bring your own booze. I went with 3 buddies and we were the only guys there who rolled up to the fire pits empty handed. Everyone else had brought thier own cooler of beers or bottle of booze. Luckily friendly people shared a bit. If you are into fishing, schedule a guided tour for a couple hours. The Bass in that lake are huge and a ton of fun to catch.
