Higher spin fairway shaft

Looking for a little more spin or some more elevation in my 3 wood.

 

Currently gaming an Xcon7 stiff and looking at dropping to a 60-ish gram shaft also.

 

And yes, I did a few searches, but "higher spin" isn't a commonly discussed topic...

That's a tricky one because the Xcon's are already considered a high launch/spin shaft so I don't know that you'd see any real difference going to another high launch/spin option.

 

If you wanted to try something else though, the "Red/Orange" profiles of more modern shafts would be the way to go. Diamana/Tensei Red, Aldila Orange, and the aforementioned Project X HZRDUS Red.

Unless the Xcon7 is just a bad profile for you, it's going to be hard to find a shaft that launches much higher. I've tried most of the higher launching shafts redboard, ilima, speeder 7.0, fubuki, kiyoshi gold, hzrdus red. Most are going to give you a similar launch and spin unless you go down in flex or drop weight.

 

I've made some swing changes that now have gotten my loft and spun up, but the best thing I ever did was move to a 4 wood instead of a 3. Launch and carry went up more than any shaft change.

Lofting up is the best way to add launch/spin to your shots. Switching shafts may or may not work... it depends on your swing (if you don't have a relatively high swing speed and late release you won't see much of an effect from a change in profile) and how you react to the change in feel from the other shaft, which could change the how you deliver the club to the ball in a non-intuitive way. The only way to know for sure is to demo/get fit.
