The History of MacGregor

Living in Dayton Ohio I'm surprised I don't see more hickory clubs on craigslist.

 

Our local golf golf association however has started to provide historical articles in the monthly e-mails. I figure this historical article would be of interest to others. It not only covers the history of MacGregor but also talks about the history of clubs as a whole.

Thanks for the post. I’m 50 miles from Dayton.

 

I was 14 pages deep and made it through the depression years but I just caved in and turned on Masters coverage.

 

I’m a history buff but I’m not sure when I may actually digest all 73 pages. I’ll bookmark it for another day I guess.

DP&L location on Woodman is where the old plant was, supposedly. They were long gone from Dayton to Cincinnati then down to Georgia waaaaay before I was born. If you look at the satellite images you can make out what could have been the research and development course I've heard stories of.

I have no idea. I bought this putter and a bunch of other hickory clubs at a Classic Golf show in Portland. Nothing matches. If you know some specific things to look for on the putter to identify it, I'm happy to do so. I know little to nothing about hickory and have only played a handful of rounds so far with the clubs I have.

The putter is awesome, I can look it up in the MacGregor book. I meant is the photo from Centennial Golf Club in Medford ;)
