Reed and McIlroy, Bad Blood?

Its a case of two stubborn hypesters being paired up. They both have some of the same quirks on the course and off...maybe we can award a few extra points to Reed since he doesnt have a woman to calm him down off the course, I dont think?

Rory is actually one of the few people in this world who can deal with his s***.

This is still a guy whose own teammates in the national championship match asked the guy he was playing to "kick his @55"

They look devastated.

So they should be unhappy they won? He was kicked off the UGA team and then his own teammates asked Harris English to beat him. Says a lot about the guy.

Yes people can change but nothing about him gives off the impression he has except that he now has enough $ that he doesn't need to steal from his teammates. He may be a great family guy but that doesn't change how he treats others.

Might say more about Harris English that he couldn't do it.

Maybe it's just another case of Rory being more candid than most, but I was pretty surprised when Rory said he is going to "show Patrick Reed what I can do, all the pressure is on him" or something very similar. He didn't say it with a nasty tone or anything, but it's pretty rare to hear these guys give anything more than a super vanilla answer, such as " I'm just gonna play my game and worry about myself". They usually try to make it about the course, rather than the other player.

Well, that's not exactly what he said and that's not full the context of what he said it it was way more vanilla than red sauce.

Again, pretty tame stuff, but kind of shows that people kind hear what they want to hear? Or listen to the presser and let social media/commentators tell them afterward what they "really" heard?

I am entertained by the number of post calling Reed out. Obviously he is not real popular and maybe for good enough reasons? I can't say his past makes me a real fan but his golf has sure been good!

It just seems like a real contrast to what happens when TW is called out. When that happens there is a rush of posters saying "that was the past, everyone else does it too, what he does off the course should be no ones business, etc., etc.".

I think todays final pair will be a lot of fun. I do think the match play thing is being played up too much. If one or both of these guys have a train wreck anywhere on the course for a single hole, this thing takes on a very different look from match play?

Should be FUN!

Not a "fan" of Patrick in general, definitely respect his game and his performance in the Ryder Cup, for example.

Have gotten some more insight into him courtesy of a member or two on here and that has been interesting and I can see how some like the guy and I can't judge that, because I've never met the man.

Still, listening to Charlie saying he does it "his way, all by himself" is overlooking the fact he isn't out there playing practice rounds by himself, when he has to do that, by design because of his behavior/attitude. Kind of defending him without addressing some of the core issues, which they are really tiptoeing around this weekend.

After watching Rory suffer all those years ago, would love to see him pull it off, but rooting for Stenson today.

If Reed wins, he earned it and likely a new Masters record in one form or another so it will be historic.

Big Rory fan but wouldn't mind Reed either. Both of them seem to just get on with things and don't take golf that seriously.

I got some respect for Reed yesterday with how fast and aggressive he was playing. Rory yesterday in the Azaleas was why I like him so much, just had a look and punched it out. Imagine how long Spieth would have taken to make a play there.

well Rory's "logic" is pretty perverse, as it would imply he's better off trailing by 3. Does that mean if he were up by 3 on 18th tee on Saturday, he'd purposely triple the hole? lol

I think that he is much better off being trailing. 3 shots are nothing on this golf course... He lost a 4 shot lead himself at the Masters not that long ago. I hope to see them set the course up to allow some scoring if they hit the appropriate shot but with the scoring record about to be demolished and cool temps they might set up the course rather difficult. Either way it should be a great final round

Friendly rivalry and Rory was simply showing Reed and the world...that he has a hot wife and a video game and Reed has a day old Big Mac in his bag and a helicopter followthrough.

Lol, interesting perspective...RM's wife is ok IMO. However, the suggestion that one is a better person than the other...well...not possible. In the end I think Reed makes a few more putts based on watching both lately.

If it was a match play final and just between the two of them....but it's masters Sunday, both could finish down the field.

On form the only certainty today is a round close to 80 from Rickie :(

Not true at all. The ONLY thing certain is that Doug Ghim will win the silver medal for low amateur since he is the only one that made the cut.

Was it just me, or did Rory go out of his way a little bit to call out Reed in his post round interview? A little more than you typically hear in the ultra polite golf world anyhow.

Rory has an attitude issue and sometimes is driven by his competitors. I think he is improving his attitude and it's helping his game.

Just because players tend to speak without concern for application of politically-correct verbal filter and are highly competitive in nature, it does not mean they dislike each other.

IF it’s true it says more about his teammates. What great teammates to have aye? They all look pretty well rested having ridden Patrick’s back to the title. I mean 6-0 In match play , winning the final 2 points vs English and Uliein , both who are pga players now. Come on !? They just feel cheap that they couldn’t do it without him. THey May dislike him personally. But they aren’t stupid enough to not want to win the ncaa. If he doesn’t win they don’t win.

We don't need them to hate each other, but golf needs a bit of beef. It's nice some of them are friends but it's pretty boring if everyone is friends isn't it?

Tiger, Mickelson, Els and Singh respected each other's games. But they weren't above mind games and intimidation tactics. Not everyone has to be as nice as Rickie Fowler.

I'm sure most of you know that Reed is estranged from his family. If not, or if you're interested in further context, you can read a little here.

Idk if he'll win (but it will be one of the top 4 because beyond that is 7 or more back which doesn't happen), but Reed I singled out years ago as a guy ready to break out. His win at the Barclays was major-like, and he didn't flinch when taking down Rory who brought his own A game in their Ryder cup. I liked him early on because of his tight and consistent draw ball flight, good overall game, and competitive/confident air.

Chances of winning in order I'd go Reed, rahm, Rory, Fowler....with no need to try and calibrate exact odds for each as they can all play and compete, and have all the tools.

Crazy town doesn’t try to leave. It tries to control and manipulate. And drag down anyone close by.

And yes. Posting something perceived to be more negative has to be piling on the judgment express. Even if passive agresive. What else could it be ? A Good Samaritan information gather ?

A game? Both Rory and Reed stank on the back 9 at Hazeltine after the fireworks of the front 9 and were clearly out of gas having played all four matches the first 2 days. The guys who really bought their A games to the singles were Phil and Sergio.

Lol crazy town also brainwashes others to leave what they have to come join them. For all we know, (and from what his sister posted on social media) he may have been influenced by his wife's family.

The truth is, you don't know any more about his situation than I or anyone else here, so stop pretending that you do. We are all for the most part in the dark about his situation.

Curious as to the point of the link? The dirt there seems to be all subjective and that makes it feel like an attempt to paint a degrading picture of the man without any view from the man himself nor any documented illegal activity. Does Patrick have an arrest record? Has Patrick offered any insight to his family relationships?

I am not saying you have judged him. I am saying my perception is that you have thrown out a subjective post in an attempt to degrade him as a person.

Nah. If you read his sisters nonsense and followed back then what she was ranting about it’s pretty clear who’s nuts. She’s pissed that he doesn’t hang around and fund her and his parents. He has had to cut all ties to not have to talk to that. Period.

The guy getting away and not posting on the subject isn’t the crazy one. It’s the ranting Hyeina that’s the issue. I have one of those on my wife’s side. And two on my side. So I know All to well how it works. It’s either stay away or kill them. And the latter is illegal so far.
