Alberta Courses

Specimania I agree that golf in Yyc is overpriced and that courses are looking at options to increase revenue in a depressed market .i will be shocked in the short term to see actual reduction in green fees in Calgary .rates have been posted at most courses, annual memberships are typically due February to March .As knock it close said earlier some courses have not increased fees from last year .that will probably be the model for this year unless turnouts really tank.you are correct about equity membership was well.i just don't have the appetite for 130 dollar golf at a semi private track for myself this year.

Played tpc fox today. Forgot my hammer and helmet. Packed out there, was fun. Never played it when all the vip courses open.

Golf in yyc is ridiculously priced. Some people who work in industry have already heard rumblings of substantial drops at tills. I don't know how these courses are going to sustain themselves in a poor economy if they don't offer fair fees. The private courses are gonna be hurting. Alot of people are trying to unload equity memberships and are having tough times. There was a rumor priddis was looking at semi private as they had some concerns. The o&g money is ot there anymore.

Better value can be found an hour away from yyc, some of these courses better price themselves accordingly

I think if the golf season is really slow they'll be more courses and better deals on Vip

I think things will hold for the first two months or so due to the nice weather, people will want to peg it and will pay to do so. After that I think you'll see courses look at their green fee frequencies and slow times and run specials to combat it. That's what we did last year at HP atleast.

Let's hope for better deals on VIP especially at HP!

I just cannot see this year being good for courses. When parking lots are literally empty downtown, people are hurtin for certain. I feel for equity members in tough times, you can barely give those memberships away. People have em posted on Kijiji and are totally willing to take a bath to rid themselves. I hope things pick up!

Hail TPC Fox Hollow, pro shop guys deserve some free drinks. I could only imagine what they have to deal with on weekends...

What is the benefit?

You pay for a VIP membership and then you get reduced green fees at a number of courses (~$25-$50 off rack rate). There are also a handful of member only events they put on. Judging by their website it looks like they are expanding further into BC and Sask as well

no hidden fees or blackout crap? you pay these guys instead of the course? can you just show unannounced and walk on (if space of course) and have the vip price?

No you book online or thru the phone, different courses have different amount of days ahead of the tee time u have to book. Then each course only has so many open spaces per day. But I've never had any real issues. When u show up to the course they just see your card and then Vip charges your credit card. Check the website u can see which courses they have if your in Edmonton or Calgary.

D'Arcy Ranch and Delacour are the only ones I've ever had trouble finding a spot through VIP.

For Edmonton the only ones are raven crest or river ridge, they just have 4 spaces and only 2 day in advance booking. Most others u can usually get the day before or the day of

There are a set number of vip spots available per day(I think HP had ~20), we've only overran like once or twice maybe last year. If you do just show up and wanna play all the shop will get you to do is call VIP and add yourself to the list, they'll cross reference that you've been added with the website and you're good to go, so definitely no need to pre book unless of course they fill up.

Let all the Calgary boys sign up, but let's not talk anymore about VIP golf because I want more availability in Edmonton LOL....

The continue to raise the price in Grande Prairie at the Country Club. They also are looking to add a surcharge to members to redo their aging infrastructure when they are making large profits in a recessed market. See how they make out after this year!

Personally know a bunch of long term members dropping out. Can't please everyone. Needs to be done

Stopped in at Heritage Pointe today to talk to the guys, not sure if I'll be working there this year currently looking for a job that actually reflects what I'm taking in school but as I'm sure y'all know everything is a little slow right now. Anyways sounds like as of right now they are getting prepared to open on the 9th of April.

I didn't think hp would rush an opening. I hope it all works out for ya!

I trust Dave Boyd (the super) if he says they're ready to go they're ready to go. They stick to their closing date no matter what so this isn't a push for extra business.

Pointe hole 2 may be a little iffy that early but good on me if they can get goin early

Yup pointe 2, and the hill going up pointe 9 and down heritage 1 are always the iffy parts. When I drove by on deerfoot today there didn't look like there was much snow on pointe 2.
