Word from the golf course is we're still good to go.  No mingling on the patio any longer, and cart use is limited to a single unless both are from the same household

I hope that remains the case for you. Whether courses actually enforce the rules remains to be seen. City run courses sure are. I just got an email from the City reiterating the rules, and saying that effective May 10, all leagues are on hold. 

 

Lots of golfing with the wife in the near future I guess.

Same here, no leagues, and the club last year booted a couple of members when they broke the rules.  They're VERY serious about not being shut down

Right, makes sense. I saw an email from Play Golf that came through last night. They're limiting all bookings to twosomes for the immediate future. I guess that's a way for them to mostly comply without worrying about getting into people's personal business about where they live and such.

A buddy who works at a course got an email from his pro with the details. Not sure if he wants me to post it here or not 

 

basically you have to play with ppl from your own household. 
 

Or if you are a single person who lives by themselves then you cam play with your 2 close contacts. 
 

not sure how many courses will be allowing singles to go off. Guess they will play it by ear

This afternoon we received an update from the National Allied Golf Association (NAGA) on how the latest restriction announcement will affect Golf in Calgary as of May 10th. NAGA is an organization that represents the PGA of Alberta, Alberta Golf, the Alberta Golf Course Superintendents Association and the National Golf Course Owners Association.

As golf is limited to members of your household, or if living alone, to two close contacts, we have to adjust our booking system to accommodate these restrictions.

Oh s*** my bad I misread that and thought it said they were closing, then I stopped there. That’s interesting, basically means I’m not playing with more than 3 ppl for a bit

Yeah it’s a total joke. Our course is now booking only singles or twosomes, but twosomes have to be from the same household. Fine for those that have a spouse or kid that plays, but doesn’t help me. Nine hole games only as they will be starting off both nines to try to accommodate everyone. This is one of the dumbest things I have ever seen! Half of our summer is screwed.

I’d assume they just take your word for it?

I get the ID for same household. But if you live alone you can have 2 cohort people you could play with. That can be anyone, so theoretically if you and a buddy wanted to go play one of you would just have to say you live alone and your pal is one of your cohort contacts.  Meh, whatever.  I'll just play with the wife for the next couple weeks I suppose. lol.  Bottom line, it seems we're close to all this ending so it just extra frustrating, especially when they have all these confusing rules that don't really pass the common-sense sniff test.  Gathering outside with 5 people is OK, but golfing with 3 people outside is not OK.  "Real smart Frank, way to think it through"

In your scenario, I read it as your “buddy” MUST also live alone.
 

These rules are ridiculous.

Today we learned that advocacy efforts underway via NAGA - the National Allied Golf Association are going well and that an update may be forthcoming as early as tonight. In light of this information, we have decided to postpone the ability to book tee-times for May 10th and beyond for another 24 hours.

If we DO NOT have an update before 6:00pm on Saturday, May 8th - then we will open our tee-sheets for twosome and single bookings at that time.

If we DO get good news, we will also open our tee sheets for booking starting at 6:00pm on Saturday, May 8th. Stay tuned for additional updates with respect to the on-going situation surrounding golf in Alberta.

how does any of this make sense? By this logic then we should only be allowing 1 person on a city bus or train car. Or maybe we should only allow 1 person in each off leash dog park at the same time. Like give your head a shake Kenney you Moron

Exactly. Nobody knows what the fk is going on.

Our course is going with 2somes, with no restrictions on the 2, as in from different households. 6 or 8 minute times.  Can also share carts. The pro called around and that’s what the other courses around here are doing.

we have a slew of 2some times booked for the next few weeks.

Dear Golf Members,

 

With the latest announcement from the Albert Government and information provided by NAGA Alberta, below is how the Sylvan Lake Golf and Country Club will operate the golf course for play starting Monday May 10th until further notice.

 

The Province wide Restriction:

“As of Sunday, May 9th at 11:59pm, outdoor sports and recreation, including golf, is limited participation to members of the same household; or if living alone, to two close contacts.”

 

• We will be adjusting our tee times to shorter intervals.
• Tee times will be booked as singles or twosome based on the Province wide Restriction.
• All leagues will be suspended until further notice.
• The snack shack and beverage cart will be in operation. There is no outside seating.
• Joining up with groups on the golf course is strictly prohibited. Please do not put our team in challenging situations.

 If you have a tee time booked this week, please call into the pro shop 403-887-3030 to adjust your booked time to follow the new restriction rules.

 

We trust and thank you for your support with operating safely during this period.

No tee times for individual golfers at my club.
 

People who live alone can name two contacts (who also live alone) to golf with for the duration, or you can golf with someone in your household. 

 

Tee times are booked for a twosome only. 
 

I’ll be practicing in the garage until this stupidity is over. 🙄
