Kathy and I were here three weeks ago and played Tiger’s new Payne’s Valley course. Pretty special place but stupid expensive unless you get a twilight deal which we did and even then it’s $180. 
 

$150 today for twilight at the National. 
 

I feel for all you guys up north but our turn is coming soon enough.

D-K .... I'm sure the border will be open soon, the plan is to depart/drive on January 02 after the New Years rush and we get possession of our rental on Jan 06th.  If the border remains closed the contingency plan is to fly down, but I don't believe that will be the case.

 

EDIT: ... TV said the border will now be open in early November, in time for us to drive across with a new SUV full of our stuff.

 

You planning a trip down again ?

We had a great time - the weather was perfect and the course conditions were just as good. We both agreed it was worth the $150. 

I’ve been coming down here four or five times a year for over forty six years now and it’s pretty amazing how much it has changed. Heck we didn’t even used to bring golf clubs but there’s some really good tracks down here now and Big Cedar is an amazing facility.  
 

Unfortunately I think we might have seen the last of Palm Springs. We’re not getting the vax and I ain’t wearing a mask for four hours on an airplane. We’ll miss it but considering the direction California is going I’m not too excited about subjecting myself to their protocols either.
 

Things in this country are just too volatile and unpredictable to plan on much of anything anymore. 

Hoping for a “mild” winter I guess!

The track. Serenity.

Played the new 18 at Serenity for the last round of the year. Was beautiful out! Looks like the weather changes big time on Friday! Time to work on the swing for next year! 
 

played my first round on March 18 in Lethbridge and last round yesterday. Good season!!

Looking to purchase my first golf membership for 2022 season.

Can anyone recommend me a course in Calgary?

 

I'm under 35 so most of the courses that I'm looking at have some sort of young professional type of deal. 

 

Two courses that I'm currently looking at are Inglewood or Winston.

No not really. They just seem to be a decent course within my budget. 

I work around the airport and live in Mckenzie towne. So anything around that area I'm open to suggestion. 

My work ends fairly early (3:15PM) so I would like to play some 18 holes after work.

Should look at delacour. 
 

Working at the airport then it is convenient to get there and Stoney trail is also super convenient. 
 

i played there for 2 seasons and travelled from Cranston. No issues

Delacour will be operating from my understanding. I am waiting to hear the prices for annuals next year. They have not been announced yet. 

Great track, great conditions, fun membership.

Got down to Vegas for a few days. Played Coyote Springs and Reflection Bay. 

 

Coyote Springs is 100% worth the drive. It's literally in the middle of nowhere out in the desert and is in extremely good condition. I swear there wasn't a brown piece of grass anywhere. Really cool layout. The greens are unforgiving madness from jack. I played as a single and got matched up with three solid golfers from Calgary. I bet we only made 5 putts all day from beyond 6 feet between the 4 of us. Great track tho. 

 

Reflection bay is reflection bay.. Not in the best condition and a really slow round. Glad i only payed the resident rate. They also flipped the nines and that's the worst decision ever imo.

Bought my early-bird 2022 Sylvan membership today, I don't play on weekends, too slow & qualify for the "seniors restricted" ... went up from $900.00 to $950.00 for next year. Guess that's not all that bad, course opened on May 05th got my first in and last on Oct 09th = 52 rounds.  If I get the same in next year that's like $18.25 per round. There's a few guys here who got in 110-120 rounds that less than $9.00 a game.

Delacour is OUT for me. 

I am going to be looking at Olds. It seems like a great deal if you can stand the trek. A few other options would be Sundre GC, Watervalley (raised prices significantly), or maybe VIP again. 

This golf market is stupid again. I hope the correction prior to COVID comes back into play.

You won’t be disappointed in olds. If I lived on the north end of the city I would join there in a heartbeat

Thanks for reiterating that Kale. I knew you played there. Its a good deal and if conditions are close to Canals than I am golden.

Yah garbage right now. All the newbs picking up the game.. nothing else to do. Hopefully it calms down when cold/ flu season is over…..

The uptake may have hit a stall which is welcome. If anything, the past two years shows how affluent Calgary is with recreation spending. The prices were going to dive down till demand rose. 

I hope that this year will be different and courses will see that the correction is back in place. 

Only 3 or so months till the season starts....
