Been a couple decades when I last played Innisfail. Are 2 of the nines the better ones? Or do they rotate 2 of the 3, day to day?

Have a game booked there next week.

It's been over 10 years since I played this course, I recall they rotate between the three 9's. Regardless of the 9's it's always in great shape my only rant was slow play and i never got a flat lie, my ball ended up either above or below my feet. Enjoy your round and share some feedback when your done.

Great day today at Greywolf. Really awesome course start to finish. Hardly a bad hole and also with many elevated tees and fabulous views. It was a bit wet after the big storm yesterday but still very playable. Certainly unwalkable if anyone had other thoughts. Some very tight driving holes with clever fairway bunkering.  The greens were the hardest for me to deal with. Missed a zillion putts on the low side. 
And loved the cliffhanger par 3. See Pic.
Rating Greywolf against Silvertip would be 7 for GW and 6 for ST.

Back to Civilization from BC (Greywolf) to play Banff Springs. I can see why people don’t uniformly love BS but it’s quite a golf course. I loved its old style classic design. Surprisingly flat- I should have walked it! Highlight of the day for me was hitting the green at the Devil’s hole and then the elevated tee shot at the 15th which was the original starting hole. 
Also many awesome views of the mountains, hotel and river.

What an amazing few days in the Banff area weather wise!  (Thursday Aug 22 - Sunday Aug 25).

ps Banff was an absolute zoo . It was like the crowd had come direct from the Olympics. Every nationality. So many cars and people.

The Mayfair in Ddmonton was excellent. Beautiful layout. Secluded greens and so well maintained. Plenty of bunkers too. These Stanley Thompson courses are a treat. Lucky to get an invite. Thanks Canada. 🇨🇦. I hope to come back to play Jasper when it’s back on its feet.

In 2017, I was lucky enough to caddy for my buddy who played in the Shaw Charity Classic Pro-Am.

 

His son paid $50K for his 4-some which went to charity for the opportunity to play with a Michael Allen senior tour pro.

 

It was an amazing experience, you'll really enjoy the track.

Yes it’s sad really.   All hotels, restaurants and tourist stuff.  My first visits were in the ‘70’s. Camping. Drove 1/2 way across the country to get there.  The experience was quite different.   I live about 1.5 hrs away now, and haven’t been there in about 15 years.

Made the Rileys's bestball consolation final so I'll be playing the Country Club on sunday morning, haven't been out there this year but I heard they did get the greens figured out after the disaster this spring.

That place is like Augusta, money bags everywhere. I am sure the greens where replaced in 4 days

So Canyon Meadows is an awesome track. I think my favourite feature is that there isn't a single gimmicky feature on the entire course. Nothing is out of place from a architectural standpoint. It's just a really great track from the first hole to a really great finishing hole in 18. It's tough but fair from the tips and the greens were so bloody fast lol.

 

All in all, an absolutely great day. The round with 1/2 a cart was $181 ($150 w/o), so definitely not cheap. But I'd pay that  again for sure. It's one of the best in Alberta that I've played

My home course, Sylvan G&CC is closing this Friday, Oct 11th so the maintenance crew can complete a number of fall projects before winter.

 

Oct 07th .... BTY day, 22C little to no wind, played well came home with the same ball, broke 80, a couple of Birdies helped.

 

Plan to get in at least 3 more rounds before Friday, will finish the year with 70 rounds, that calculates out to $14.29/round ($1K=Senior Restricted Membership) and if the weather holds maybe 1 or 2 more if other courses are open around here.

Well there marks the end of the 2024 golf season for me up here. After a crappy spring we got an awesome summer and fall weather wise. Hit 40 rounds at my club with one last round yesterday. Probably played 15 more in elsewhere. Now just waiting till November for Bandon. 

 

High round total at my club was 142, I think we had ~150 days open this year so that's getting your money's worth.

Our course in Edmonton is now closed, we got one last round in yesterday afternoon. I finished with exactly 120 rounds in the calendar year, including a couple of winter getaways to play. I think I was pretty close to 90 at my home course. Public courses are still open so I may try to get out for one more round on Friday or Saturday afternoon. Sad time of year!

I hope they release some more memberships. It's a great crew at that course and I enjoyed being a member for a few years. It is high on my list to re-join

Done up here, got 25 or so rounds in. But I work in Texas now, so lots of evening rounds over the winter for this guy!

Good course.  I played it twice while visiting some relatives last year, that is how much I enjoyed it(passed up a few other options to play it again).  Local knowledge will really help to put up a good score.

Went to the golf town demo sale today. Looking for a 3w and came out with a 3w and a 7w lol, damn it! 
 

ai smoke max HL 3w - played the paradym TD the last year and this year. Low spin 3w is not a fit for me. This one felt so easy to hit , could move it both ways about 275 -280 off a tee. Perfect 

 

AI smoke TD 7w - found this in the rack, always intrigued me to try one. Well, super easy to hit. Carries about 255 nice and high. Should be good for my par 5 in 2 club. Still have the old hybrid to go back to if it does not work out

Nice pickups, I think 3hl - 7w is the way to go now with woods that don't spin and our altitude.
