How’s the season going for everyone ?

I am at 21 rounds and the game is coming into its own

need to clean up a few shots around the greens but other then that is is good!

Probably have 10 rounds in but the game is in really good shape for sure. As always, its the putter that determines how well I score. But loving the weather so far!

Putting is also garbage here…

pretty much lose the majority of my strokes on the greens

32 rounds so far in 2025 ..... 17 while in Palm Springs & 15 in Sylvan, last round shot 75 was very happy with that.

Weather here has been crazy, pic's from Friday, June 13th, golfers were not so luck who got caught out in the late afternoon hail storm, got 2" in 1 hour.

I'm at ~15, had a bogey free Riley's round going on saturday till the horn blew on 16. Still making too many dumb swings off the tee but the rest of the game is good, reworked my short game action which has helped, comfortably back into the + cap range.

Game is getting more consistent, some bad but mostly solid rounds. Getting off the box has been the struggle when she goes downhill. The bad rounds have no impact on the cap though. Hoping to get closer to the + territory this year. Hoping to be way more consistent with the rounds by July.

How's Dealcour? I heard it's good.

Carstairs has been vastly improved over the past two years. Its like its a different course!

15 rounds, which would easily put me on pace for most rounds in a season. Game feels good, handicap is at a nice 6.9. Tried to re-work my swing this offseason with my first lessons since I was a teenager. It definitely helped my Driver, but my approach game is more inconsistent than a couple of years ago. Driver +++, approach game --, netting out to slight improvements. Although most of the improvements are probably coming from confidence in my short game and putting. I wish I had some strokes gained numbers to back that up!

Delacour is unreal right now. Best greens around hands down. We should get a calgary area WRX round booked somewhere, maybe there?

Played in the Carstairs cash scramble and won with our team shooting -18 (3 eagles / 3 pars) I agree it was in good shape!

Has anybody played Kananaskis yet this year? We have a group of 52 (yes 52!) heading out in about a month, playing each course twice. Just wondering how the courses are looking? I'm sure they are good, always are.

Got a call from the Kananaskis ProShop, I was on the singles wait list and they got me a 7:12 am TT on July 27th on Mt Lorette and advised they'll be able to get me out on Mt Kidd the following day. Green fees for old grey hair are $119.00 that's cheap, accommodations at the Kananaskis Village Mountain Lodge aren't so cheap. Looking forward to staying/playing here again, the last time I played these tracks was in July 2002 after working there on the G8. What a great Canada Day surprise .....

Interested in how you managed to get such a large group onto KA?? When I tried to book as a single last year they were like fully booked for the whole season.

I just went on the site and there are 8 times available for today. K-Country is actually really easy to get on if you don’t care what time you play and you book the night before.

That’s a bit tricky when you plan a golf trip from down here like 6 months ahead and you want to coordinate tee times at 3 or 4 courses. In the end I played Silvertip, Greywolf & Banff so no harm done! Maybe next time for Kananaskis.

I honestly don't know how these guys managed that. There is a group of old guys from my club in Edmonton that have been going for like 20 years or more. They have a relationship with the pro I think, and they have been going for a very long time. We have rooms booked, tee times, hospitality suite, shuttles to and from the course. So they have a system that they have been doing for a long time. Not sure how they do it, but I was happy to get the invite this year.

Surprised no one posted this Nick Tarnasky - "Bang - Bang - Bang" video at the Alberta Springs Golf Club from earlier this week. I read the RCMP concluded an investigation with no charges. Hope this doesn't impact his position as Red Deer Minor Hockey coach. Someone erected a memorial were it all took place. Toooo funny. The course is 10 min from home, have a TT here next week, may have to take a selfie of the famous #15 Par 5, T-box & pond.

How was the K golf trip ?

I got TT's as a single on Kidd this Sunday & Lorette next Tuesday, looking forward to getting back to the Mtn's.

It starts Monday... we play Kidd, Lorette, and Kidd again staring Monday through Wednesday. It was zero degrees there yesterday apparently, so hopefully the weather improves. But I have heard the courses are absolutely perfect, really looking forward to it! I can certainly report back. I haven't played there in years, so I am very excited.

Mike .... looks like some rain gear maybe necessary, hope they're wrong, I play Kidd at 10:30 on Sunday & Lorette at 8:33 am Tuesday, July 29th.

Enjoy the sun & warmer temps, play well.

Yes, I was following the weather too... we play Kidd, Lorette, Kidd with all of our times starting around 1pm. So hopefully it isn't bad, just a few odd showers here and there. We will see I guess!

July 27th, played Mt Kidd, rained most of the round, so Cart paths only slowed us down to 5 hrs round. Birdied #4 from Blues they're signiture hole & Birdied #18, to break 80. Course is wet but in nice shape. Hope to see the sun out on Tuesday on Lorette. A few pics.

Anyone ever played Tobiano? Played it yesterday for the first time and it is unreal.

Probably in my top 3 courses I have played

I just played there last week. The views are incredible and it's in phenomenal shape right now. It's easily one of the best courses I've ever played.

July 29th, MT Lorette - BTY sunny & warm morning/afternoon with no rain, bonus. The last time I played this course was pre-flood in 2008, didn't care for this track, lots of water & didn't like the lay out, lost 2 balls in water, the other fellas I was paired up with lost a lot more. I didn't like Hole #9, and #14 both Par 5's were poorly laid out, Birdied #12 a Par 4 & I liked #18 the finishing hole, made par to shoot 81 from Blue's. The course is in good shape, greens were fast, fairways were very-very wet, cart paths only, that creates slow play & not many golfers take their sand bucket out on the fairway to fix beaver tail divots. Was told to watch out for a Black Bear that was spotted on front 9 the night before, didn't see any. Started late, just after our 8:33 TT & finished just under 5 hours, seen the Marshall 3 times he didn't say much about pace of play. He suggested, both courses were almost full to capacity, they can accommodate 320 golfers per side = 640 players per day. The Pro-shop staff were excellent, I got on as a single, after I checked in, they gave me a nice B-Day card that everyone signed, that was special. Ended up buying a K-Country souvenir Golf Hat for $52.00, asked but no Alberta Grey Hair discount. We had supper at their restaurant twice, we really enjoyed the bevy/meals and the service was even better. We stayed at the Pomeroy Mountain Lodge in the Kananaskis Village, the Mrs really enjoyed the Nordic Spa, the facilities are excellent but a bit expensive, overall a memorable B-Day golf holiday. On Monday, July 28th, around 6:00 pm there were 3-4 lightning strikes with a big K-Boom that hit just across the fairway, the bld shook & it poured rain while we were in the restaurant. Happy not to be out on the course.
