Let us know how Canals is. Love that track and the staff. Should be next to mint as their super is great. 
I have played Olds a few times this year. Course is shaping up nicely. Except the construction on hole 12. They redid the whole thing and won’t be done till June. Great layout where you can use all the clubs in your bag if you want. They are punching greens Monday and Tuesday so I expect those to be running awesome by the weekend.

Did you ever play the old hole 12? The green was impossible to hold and the tee shot landing area was always wet. Should be wayyyyy better now

I did once. I look forward to it when it opens. It’s a fun course regardless and I admit I didn’t give it just do. 
It’s quiet for the most part too! 
i wonder if a lot of courses have slowed down this year over the two years past

Played Delacour on Monday. Had never played it before, but I really enjoyed the layout. Lots of rolling hills without any gimmicky elevation changes. Gives you a chance to hit driver on pretty much every hole other than 2 and 17. I thought the par 5's were really good. Greens were smooth but were pretty slow, but I'm sure they'll get faster as the season goes. They might have to keep them a little slower with the wind they get there.

Updating my own thread drift here... went into MG for a multi-day fitting this week (it was recommended to split a "full bag" club fitting over two days due to fatigue - which was good advice).  The fitting with Jeremy was really good - no salesmanship but just good advice and helpful recommendations. Ended up keeping a couple clubs in the bag, but have new driver, irons and putter coming.  I would *HIGHLY* recommend MG, and in particular, Jeremy.  He uses the "main" fit booth which is separate from the other "driving range" type booths so its a bit more private and quieter.

going to be in Calgary for a couple weeks and was looking for a nice range/practice facilities for some evening practice. Looking for grass range preferably and perhaps some short game practice. Any suggestions?

Canal wintered well. 

 

Greens were extremely slow. Had a very hard time getting the ball to the hole. I think they need to be rolled and could probably drop the mower a bit.  
 

Bunkers were the worst I’ve seen anywhere in Calgary. Was only in one myself, but my partners found more. Were absolute concrete, borderline unplayable.

Played it today. So good. 
 

saw 1 bunker (on 16) that was GUR. Everything else was mint 

 

zero wind today and sunny. Loved it!

Played Eagle Rock today, couple dead areas on a couple greens. Other than that it’s in great shape. Shot 84 with a quadruple bogey on the last hole haha.

Played olds today, man I love that course, so pure! Played a match with some buddies today. I shot -1 from the back tees and got nipped by 1, good game today! 
 

new changes look good! Talked to the superintendent today and the new #12 should be open by June 10th, new green looks great!

Yep, Fairway bunker on 2

and was up and down on 12 from the green side for a sandy bird. 
 

Played with a guy from Edmonton who thought the course was in unreal shape!

Ya they do a great job on that course. I am totally happy with playing there. 12 looks awesome and I am so pumped to play it. I appreciate having rakes and pretty descent sand as opposed to Canal (unless they fixed that problem). I don't know why I dismissed that course for so many years. Its fantastic and the people who work there are great too! I would look forward to playing a round with you. 

It was a windy one today. If it wasn't for the wind, I am sure I would have had 2 aces... 🤣

played delacour yesterday, some bunkers were flooded, but the fairways and rough were super lush, greens were a bit slow but yea this rain is absolutely brutal for the fair weather golfers out there.

sidenote: anybody have opinions on Mickelson? is it worth the $150 to play the track? TIA

I play in 1 degree weather, don’t bother me none…

 

i haven’t played mickelson yet. But heard it is good. Probably private soon so might as welll play it once while you can

I played Mickelson last week on a rainy day on our way out to Invermere. It was awesome. Pretty open off the tee, but the greens were really tough. You don’t want to short side yourself that’s for sure. I liked it a lot, worth a play.

Played Lorette today, Kidd tomorrow. The rough was UP! They haven't been able to cut it for the last 8 days because of the rain, but it was in great shape. The greens were kinda pokey and the tees were a touch shaggy, but all-in-all, it was awesome as always.

Darcy ranch is king right now. Just walked a twilight 18 for $42. Place is so lush right now. So good! 
 

as of next weekend I am a resident there for the summer until we get out new house at the end of august. So there will be lots of twilight rounds played

I played Kidd last week, it was perfect. I think that is the best spot to play golf in Alberta, just can't beat it.

By the way, for anyone planning on heading to Invermere in the short term, Greywolf was in terrible shape. The only part of the course that had grass essentially were the greens, which were nice. Fairways, tees, etc. were completely dead or very recently re-sodded. I think they have only been open for 2 weeks or so, and they probably shouldn't be now based on what we saw last week.

looking to get a fairway wood reshafted and don't really trust g-town. Anyone have good recommendations to get it shafted in Calgary?
