Such incredible weather... Course closes Tuesday. 😔 I got over 75 rounds in this year which is probably a record for me. Hopefully more of those to come.

I love Priddis. I live 15 minutes away and the only reason I even got a round in there this year is because my daughter works in the Grandview lol. I have to do better next year...

Small world! Hopefully we winter well. You're welcome to come out next year. I'd love to get a place closer to the course but they are either 6000 sq. ft. or those villas where they are pricing at $750k.

Played prob my last round of the year today at Darcy ranch. Man did I play terrible lol. Might as well pack it in!

Played Priddis yesterday for my final round up here this year, perfect fall day, course was firm and fast, tough to get anything real close when the wind picked up, great last day of golf. Only gripe is when it is firm raven is a touch short, didn't hit anything over a 9 iron into a par 4.

This is closing weekend at our course in Edmonton. I kind of wish they would take a look at the weather and call an audible, its going to be over 20 degrees most of next week. I understand greens have to be tarped, etc. but I wish they would push it out one more week. It was a good year, got in over 100 rounds. Now its time to start looking for a place to play for a week or two over the winter. I have done Phx and Palm Springs many times, but prices are too crazy now. I don't want to spend $200 for a course we used to play for $80. Have to get creative maybe and find a hidden gem place that is warm.... I wonder if anyone knows of a place? I was thinking maybe Laughlin or Mesquite, NV. Still warm but some cheaper golf options. Anyway, it was a good year!

PHX was complete horse crap last winter. And that's if you could get a slot. 

 

I'd check and see if Utah could work for a getaway.

Speargrass today. Haven't played it in a couple months. 

 

They moved all of the Hybrid Poplar trees from between the putting green and the first tee. Doesn't even look like the same place. They have also built a permanent building where the temporary event tent used to be complete with new concrete patio. They have also added some paved cartpaths throughout the course. 

 

But, and this is a big but. They have a massive problem on their hands with 18. It's slumped even more than it had earlier in the year. The crack now extends the entire length of the green. Really don't know what they are going to be able to do to save it if anything. 

 

Otherwise, it was an absolute stunner of a day in Mid-October. Course is in amazing shape. Greens are pretty quick and smooth as can be. Fairways are excellent too. 

 

Really happy for the new owners.

That course is unreal good. But yah not sure how the erosion is going to effect 18. Will be tough

Why do we live here? It's actually 8 months of garbage weather. I just went outside to put the plow on my quad because of the 18,000,000,000,000,000 tons of white BS on on the ground and the damn thing was so frozen I couldn't even get it started. I'm still here because my wife's parents live in Airdrie and need help. But once they've passed, I'm outta here. I did my 20 years in the patch, and a good chunk of that working outside through these winters and have zero need for a place that's a frozen hell hole from October to May. I can't wait for the 3 week stint of -40 in January or February.

I agree & in less than 2 months I'll be in Palm Springs renting a condo on a golf course until the end of April.  I'm also looking forward to my new gig, I was accepted as a volunteer for the American Express PGA tourney in La Quinta, I'll be working inside the ropes on the practice range & putting green, should be fun. If you decide to escape from winter and get down to the P.S. area send me a DM.

This cold weather & snow sucks, I'm California dreaming .... some golf news to share.

 

The Volunteer Committee for the American Express PGA Tourney in La Quinta sent out my assignments today, I feel blessed to have been chosen for the following positions in the Practice Area at the Stadium course.

 

I wasn’t sure what Scoring Area involved on the Friday, my Team Director advised I will be part of the Security Detail working at the scoring trailer on the Stadium course at the putting green and back of the clubhouse for the Nicklaus course.  We are to provide extra security for the players as they finish and go into their appropriate venue.  He said, this is actually a great gig! You see the players up close and they are more relaxed because their day of golf is over. After my shift on Sunday, I get to watch the last group come in with my Mrs who gets a free pass & we get to sit in the grandstands overlooking the 18^th green. I also will be entitled to a 50% discount on round of golf at the Stadium course, (note to self pack an extra sleeve of balls.) 

 

Looking forward to the opportunity.

Several players that likely would have played in the 2023 event, including defending champion Hudson Swafford, are suspended from the PGA Tour after signing with the LIV golf.

2620 km's later we arrived at our rental in Palm Springs on Jan 05th, need to get some WD40 & range time in.  Here for 3.5 months, view from our patio of the 9th hole on Desert Princess Lagos course, love the smell of fresh cut grass & view with Palm Trees.

No feedback.  Only use of their Trackman units was inside from pre-COVID lockdown.  You want me to bring the GCQuad down?

I dunno how accurate those are. I have a tough time trusting many launch monitors to be honest
