I've also found some goodness over the offseason and to start the year. Sub-80 through 4 rounds so far, although one of those was at Shaganappi so it only half counts.

played Speargrass today. Not sure what is going on but the greens are In the worst condition I have seen them in about 15 years. Super dry and brown. 
 

shot 75, was a great day weather wise, needs about 2 days of solid rain there!

Ya it is open. They took out the bunkers in front of the green and built it up a bit on the river side

I'm struggling & hitting iron shots off the toe, my home course is so cheap they don't have a range. Spent some time at the Lakewood range on the other side of town, it's an interesting set up at least you have targets to try to hit. Like everything else a large bucket of 60 balls has gone up to $11.00 and they don't even register on my G80 launch monitor. My swing needs more WD40 & any tips on how to fix toe hits are welcome .... a few pic's.

Interesting Targets, they had an Oilers crest as well as a Flames but they must have taken them down.

 

 

 

 

Looks like a few balls off the hosel did some damage.

 

 

 

 

That's hole must of took some effort ....

 

 

 

 

Little high on the face but finally started to hit the center, low & slow helped flatten out the over the top out/in swing.

Yup .... same conditions here, played this morning, dry as hell, they've been watering every morning & the greens are still hard.

 

My fix worked, still needs some fine tuning, broke 80 today.

May 20th .... Smoke here today is bad with lots of flying white ash, late yesterday afternoon a cloud sprinkled what looked like acid rain on the deck, add flying Poplar fluff it's deadly when you suffer from allergies. Hope this clears up with the forecasted rain next week, we need some.

Played Athabasca GC today. 

 

Course is in as good of shape as I've ever seen it. The greens are absolutely perfect, a touch slow, but very smooth and quite receptive. If anything they could cut them lower and roll them. 

 

$61 to walk on the weekend is a steal.

Darcy ranch in pretty good shape, someone said it was dry, but seems to be good now! Redoing some sod on some tee boxes but other then that it was great

 

olds as well, great shape! punched their greens about 2 weeks ago and getting good now 

 

playing the mastertune men’s touney at delacour next weekend should be good if I can start making some putts!!!

That was me. They had issues with the irrigation when I played. That was a month ago. Apparently it's fixed and they've been watering. 

 

Played Speargrass today and it was much, much better. They also had water problems, but that was due to restrictions from the irrigation district. 

 

18 is growing in nicely, I think the changes they've made to that hole will hopefully help the slumping.

Have been playing the mountains of late. Most courses are greening up well and are quite good. 

Mt Kidd was awesome

Stewart was awesome

Silvertip is doing a lot of work and they still have holes that are down. Looks like a massive irrigation/drainage project is underway. I dunno if they will be operating on normal 18 this year. They also had a different cart fleet. The old ones were sweet and the replacements were like they bought the cart from the Canal. That was sad as this is such a fun course to drive around on. 

Mickelson is getting better, man that course does not withstand a heavy rain very good. It floods pretty quick.

How many holes were affected at Silvertip? Planning a round there at the end of July but don't really want to spend a bunch of money for a lesser experience.

Played a tourney at delacour last weekend. A few greens were in rough shape and some fairways. Weird for there as they have unlimited water.

 

played Speargrass the other day. Much better than last time I was there. Must have fixed their water issue

Silvertip has a hole that is somewhat dug up. You play it still but they are doing a lot of work. The carts they had when I was there were like delacour. Takes nothing away from the views. 
 

redwood was in ok shape when I landed last week. Couple fairways need a lot of attention. Still great fun

 

sad to hear about delacour. Conditions were always paramount. I haven’t played there much in the past year. Excited to get out. 
We need water so bad.

Planning a trip to see some old friends in Alberta next year. We will be there for a week and the plan is to drive Calgary, Banff, Jasper, Edmonton and back to Calgary. I reckon on playing 5 rounds Banff Springs and Jasper Park and 3 others along the way. Suggestions?

Speargrass and Delacour need permission from the Irrigation district before they can water. 

 

Speargrass was much much better. Wind was brutal which made the course play tough.

I am not a huge heritage pointe fan , but the heritage / desert 18 I played yesterday was in great shape. Lush everywhere, greens very good

Anyone played Calgary Golf and Country Club before? Any thoughts? Advice? Got invited for an evening round next week by a work colleague. Pretty excited considering how private and exclusive it is.
