M1 double down on weights?

I will post a picture with this for a detailed look. Has anyone experimented with this set up. I took extra weights and applied them to the head. 6377fc79841ffdd0f770df55f75824f7.jpg

What are the weights of them? I know they have quite a few different ones

I’m not sure what the grams are. They were stock from another head. I use a fair amount of lead tape on my clubs. Heavier clubs help slow my tempo down. This feels like I may cause damage to the shaft. I’ll give it a go and see if it can knock my trusty Cobra out of the bag.

I completely "lost the head" due to the CB on the Hzrdus Yellow I'm playing at the moment so I took one of the weights out of my 440 head and put it in the front track of my my 460. Totally different club now

I’m interested to hear your results with this setup. I also have both the 440 & 460. I may try this set up in the 460 instead

It's made a huge difference as the SW was just too low for me before I added the extra weight. I felt like I was swinging a feather and couldn't consistently find the center of the face. I like the look of the 440 over the 460 but unfortunately winter has me sitting idle for half the year and it takes some time to get the swing going again so I like the added forgiveness of the 460. As i'm sure you know the misses with the 440 can be pretty devastating in regards to spin/distance vs the 460. I'll probably flip over to the 440 at some point again during the season once I get tuned in.

As far as the Hzrdus Yellow goes its a great feeling shaft but spin is too high for me (high 2k's-low 3k's in the 460). I'm curious to see what kind of difference I'd see in the 6.5 vs my 6.0 because its such a nice shaft to hit but I think the tip would probably still be a shade too soft for my SS (110-113). I may tip it a 1/2" at some point down the road because it plays at 45.5" stock from TM and I've got room to play but in the meantime I've got a Tensei Pro Orange 60TX on the way. I picked up a Tensei Pro Blue 70TX for my 3 wood and its been great so far (on the sim anyway) so hoping the PO is a winner too. First tee time of the year is booked for this Friday afternoon so we'll see how it performs on the course and hopefully the PO is in the bag in another week or so. This winter has been WAY too long.

nice feedback. your making me want to get out and play soon. I have both the 6.0 and 6.5 Hzrdus. I wont lie the 6.0 and the 440cc head with out total focus can turn into quick left snipes. I prefer the 6.5 we share the same club head speed. I am hoping to hit some balls this week and mess with the location of the weights. I also have an accuflex VS339 I like to put in the 460cc the shaft is 80grams so with the extra weights in the head I may need to eat my Wheaties before trying it out.

So long as you're careful with the positioning, this seems exactly the same as adding lead tape, installing heavier weights, and other extremely common means of increasing headweight, regardless of whether anyone has done it on that exact club before.

I replaced the front and rear weights on my F7 driver with heavier weights to compensate for a shorter shaft length and heavier/fatter grip versus stock and it works well for me.

Good Lord!! two extra weights and standard length?? wow. That may be the heaviest Swingweight ive ever heard of. If its an extra 24 grams its going to be about 13 points heavy, about E-7 or so I'd bet.

Just understand that the shaft is going to play FAR, FAR, softer than intended , launch higher, and spin more with that much weight on it. You are effectively softening the tip a massive amount.

It's like "reverse tipping" it, or soft stepping irons 3 or 4 times.

When you shorten a shaft to play it in a fairway wood you always tip the shaft at least a half inch more than your driver to keep the flex similar because the 3 wood head is significanlty heavier than a driver head and you must tip the shaft to stiffen it up and counter that heavier weight.

You are adding a huge amount of weight, far more than how much extra a 3 wood head would weigh, without any tipping at all, AND playing it much longer. It will be a noodle. If this set up actually works for you, it means that the shaft was way too stiff to begin with.

Thanks for the information, I have an XXstiff accuflex that is shorter than std. I bet that would be a good fit to try this out on. Thanks. I'll give it a go.

Right on. That actually may work out just fine. Enjoy the experiment!
