Taylormade M2 10.5 Head question

So I bought this off of eBay. I was pretty sure I was going to get a standard retail head. Is this a standard retail head? If it means anything there is a + on the hosel.

Also if you can help me decipher these numbers it would be great. Pretty sure I know what everything is except RA1 and RA2 and CT

This might be a dumb question but should I return the item for a retail head? I thought I got a decent deal on a retail head but maybe might just keep it even if it’s worth more? How much different are these specs than a normal retail head? It just seems a little bit lighter and the face is opened

And does the face angle actually make the loft lower? I desired a higher lifted driver but with the face angle may have to return it if it essentially brings the loft down too much.

The stated loft is 10.8* so if you're looking to go higher in the loft (with the sleeve) the face angle should close a little thus offsetting some of the open face angle.

If you got a good deal, then you should keep it.

Clearly it's not a retail head. I actually think the "RA" numbers are the amount of face roll at different positions on the face. In other words, a way to measure the Twist Face effect. The rest of the numbers are self explanatory. And, I don't believe the face angle number affects loft - the adapter adjustment will affect loft and face angle, but the value on the spec sticker is just a static measurement.

Why question this if you got something of more value than you thought you bought? Most people would celebrate getting something more desirable than they thought. Obviously, returning because the item is not as described is an option in play for you, but I'd advise against it. If you paid the price for a retail head and got a tour issue head, with specs... worst case scenario flip it and get exactly what you are looking for.

I’m only questioning it because I’m actually trying to compare the 2017 Taylormade Heads M1/M2 against 12 degrees and 10.5 degrees. So I’ve actually purchased this head a 12 degree head in an M2 and about to get a 12 degree head in an M1. So yeah like a true ho 4 of almost the same driver heads. As you can see the higher lofts are kind of what I need so that’s why I was asking about returning it. However, it is pretty neat to know it’s a tour issue head so I guess I’ll keep it?

All good bro. I am in no position to challenge someone who spends too much on golf crap. I'm guilty.

Luckily I have extra weights from the 2016 M2 days. It was 195 grams...with the adapter in it so it looks like I’ll be adding some weight

Sorry for the small pic. I think I’m at my upload limit. Anyone know how to get more upload space?

Ok so I got another head for around $158 to the door so kind of a lukewarm deal. For the experts out there, I had a question. This is an M1 and it has a + on the hosel. But it does not have a K in the serial like the other one. Oh, it has a white dot in the face too. Because of the lack of a K does that mean this is NOT a tour issue head?

That's a tour issue head.

Depends if you want a head with warranty or not. TM won't warranty a tour head from the experiences I've had.

I guess I’ve never had issues with a Taylormade Head before. Granted I don’t swing 110+ but do people have a lot of issues with them breaking down? You’re the second person to note this so I assume it is semi-common?

There are several threads here where the glue used failed or for whatever reason, the carbon crown separates from the titanium body. Use the search and you’ll find some.

Also, I forgot to mention. So in the first head I posted that has the k serial, i was going to change the weight as I had extra weights. So I took a blow dryer and heated up the weight to unscrew it. It’s came out fine, but there was this clear goo which I assume was hotmelt? What does hotmelt look like? Or was it glue?

Another strange thing is the k serial had a weight and a washer. Same weights from the 2016 M2. but another 12 degree head I bought from a member on here had a weight. Like one big weight. Definitely not like the 2016 M2. Anyone know what’s up with that?

  • 1 month later...

Well, it looks like it was bound to happen. I experimented and found what I was looking for. A 10.5 M2. Been gaming it for a while. Went to the range tonight and hit a few. Then I go to address another ball and I look down. The sun makes it look like a dent on the crown so I look closer and there is a tiny crack. Arrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!!!!!!! They told me to call customer service on Monday. However, it’s a tour issue head. Just my luck
