This is EXACTLY what I've done. I'll edit this post with the link to the thread I posted these in.

Here it is: http://www.golfwrx.c...-a-ball-marker/

Just used a bench grinder and a cut-off wheel on a Dremel. I torched it afterwards due to heat displacement during grinding/cutting.

Word of caution, I highly recommend using a respirator when grinding any metal, the cutoff wheels especially. Outside is ideal too, but you'll have black nostrils and a rusty taste in your throat if you choose to go without a decent mask. I learned the hard way and didn't feel too great after.

Where'd you get your damascus if you don't mind? Mine were on eBay and sold out of India, and clearly designed to be made into knives.

Interesting, what size? The ones on eBay generally range from 8-11" long, 1-2" wide, and about 1/8" thick.

Best Damascus would probably be stainless Damascus from guys like Chad Nichols or the Thomas brothers (Devin, etc). Those are some of the best high end damacus guys from the custom knife world (which is also a hobby of mine...makes golf clubs look ridiculously cheap). They have some amazing patterns.

Lol. The quality stuff is expensive, yes. There's a LOT of difference in this expensive Damascus and the cheap stuff once you start to machine it. One of the reasons custom pocket knives made with it get into the high hundreds and even the thousands really quickly.

Yep those guys make great stuff. What you have is cheap paki Damascus. I run a knife company as well. For your purpose it will be fine but it’s made in the Middle East with crap metal.

For the divot tools, I'd suggest practicing with a dense wood on a band saw to make sure the shape you want will work. Sounds like a really fun project!

My own. I do it on the side, you can search #bladesbyblake on IG and see my work. I do about 100 knives a year

If you can cut a reasonably straight line into a sheet of metal with a Dremel disc, you can make a divot tool in "paki" Damascus.

I drilled a hole where I wanted the "prongs" of the tool to end and made 2 parallel(tangent) cuts on either end of that hole to form the channel between.

What you see is 2 holes, I wanted a little extra character to the tool so I drilled 2 side by side and used the further one for the channel
