Looking for a new 3 wood decided to get on the bay and see what kind of a deal I could get. About a month ago I got a Steelhead Plus from Callaway Golf Preowned for about 80 bucks but sent it back because I was unhappy with the condition. So there is one on the auction site that has a buy it now price for $39.99. The seller describes it as an 8/10 condition and it has a Fuji ZCom TW 64 stiff flex. Obviously I jumped on it even though it seemed to good to be true. Well it came in and to my surprise it a a tour shaft band below the grip alond with as SST pured sticker, and in 9/10 condition :russian_roulette: Just wanted to share my excitement and hear some similar stories.

I found a practically new R7 425 TP 9.5 w/REAX 65 TP shaft (rombax technology) complete with a full set of weights, wrench and magnetic headcover for 201.00. Best deal I ever made and I still can't find anything to knock it out of my bag.

I found a website purely by accident about 6 weeks ago with the best deals on golf equipment that I have ever seen. I only dig thru the used club section, but have already picked up some real steals. For instance, I bought a Sonartec SS-03 13 degree with the stock Penley shaft in X flex for $34.95. The club was rated with 3 stars (good condition) and it honestly is like new. No face damage, no skymarks and the grip even has alot of tack left in it.

 

Now, the best deal from this same site. I wanted a practice club for the range and also to just test out some other sets. Picked up a brand new Mizuno MP-30 for $9.99, lol. Club has literally never been hit.

mine's a little different. i just had a putter refinished by BOS for $60 shipped and it has looks mint.

 

that's probably the best $60 i've spent in a long time.

 

on the bay though, i snagged a 503.h for $21 shipped awhile ago.

Got 2nd Swing for many a deal when they were open but the best had to be a Cobra SS-Overisze gap wedge I picked up for a buddy. At the time they were transitioning to the next sets of irons and the wedges were tough to be found anywhere, so I find one at 2nd Swing brand new in the plastic, in the used bin--one cent! And yes, I passed along the good fortune....Best part, the kid didn't even notice the problem

Got my MP-33 brand new off the bay in 2000 or 2001 (can't remember exactly) for $400. The seller was pretty new and no one had bid on them. I decided to take a chance at his opening bid and won. They were $800 in the stores at the time since they were the brand new model. 3 days later they showed up in brand new shape.

i have a titleist 20 degree mid-size fairway model with a nv-95x in it and i love it. i was dorking around on ebay one day and i found another one and i saw nobody had bid on it. their was about 5 hours left on it. so i went and ran my errands and i came back, still, nobody had bid on it. the opening bid was 99 cents so i waited until their was less than a minute left and i put in my bid. so, 99 cents got me a great condition backup for my trusty five wood.

Cameron 33/350 mil spec for $125 about a year and half ago.

Cameron del mar 3.5 for $140. Turned around and sold it for $330. that worked.

Dumbfounded when I saw it and could not let it pass. Even has a shaft that fits me perfectly. Hopefully it will in this head.

A buddy of mine is an attorney for PING. He won a set of used, but factory refinished 3-SW square-grooved Eye2s in a company tournament. I was in high school at the time and he was going to sell them to me for $75. It took way longer to get them than he thought, so he gave them to me for free.

 

So, I got pre-USGA vs. PING court battle Eye2s, 3-SW for FREE. These irons are still my gamers and probably will be for a long time. I've almost traded them twice, but am SO glad I didn't.

I fell in love with the Pi5 irons at a golf show in Toronto the year they were released. Until I got to Golf Town and saw that they were $1200 CDN at the time (way out of my budget). Well I won an auction on the "bay" and got the 3-PW and matching Tw5 wedges 52*, 56* and 60* for $380 CDN. The best part no shipping as the guy lived 20 minutes from me. I still feel like I stole them.

Bought a mint 905R with Accra SC 75 for 160 on Ebay. I figured for the price it was worth a shot so I Used it and didn't really like it but ended up selling it for 210.

Well, what can I say: when you're in Canada, particularly in Quebec (means TAXES = 14 - 15%!!!!), almost everything from EBay are deals! Even after shipping, US $$$ (excellent for us in the last year ;)), duties and brokerage fees (I ask for a more expensive option now with brokerage fee included!). My personal experience: I've saved at least 25%!!! And regularly between 33% - 50%, so... :yes: BTW, I only buy items in excellent, mint or new condition.

 

So, what I consider that were great deals (I certainly missed some :russian_roulette: )

Forgot to mention, the best deal I've gotten in any of these chain stores was at Golfsmith about a month ago when I picked up a fairly well maintained Vokey Chrome Series 25208 for $14.99. Considering how bad the deals are on used equipment at these places, I am led to believe someone mis-marked the wedge.

Got an almost brand new Ping Rapture with a Pershing 75S for $199. It didn't make the bag so I'm probably going to sell it but it was a great deal nonetheless.

I'll go with my top three purchases. If I go any deeper, I look like the vulture that I am. The four putters I will list were sold long before I ever came to WRX, in fact, probably before there was a WRX.

#1: Handmade Bobby Grace. It was an IMG style putter that was a little rough, but the peening marks

were still on the back of the flange from where it was shaped. Nice part? It was made for Tom Weiskopf, and stamped with "TW" out on the end of the toe. It was authenticated by the purchasing party, through a personal meeting with Bobby. Paid a whopping $15 for it, and the guy selling it knew that it was made for Tom. I still frequent that guy's shop and have given him all the business I can.

#2: A pair of Garage Made Bobby Grace putters in 303 Stainless steel. They were part of a very limited run, one with a wide top line and one with a little narrower top line. One of them had been ghost-stamped in the cavity and showed "BOBBY GRACE" twice. Very cool pair and it is very possible that a WRX'er owns them, now. Got that pair for $35 each.

#3: PING 1A, Scottsdale in great shape. I was in a local Goodwill and saw a bronzish putter under a stack of bags. When I pulled it out and saw what it was, I thought I was on Candid Camera or something, seriously. I looked around and waited for someone to start laughing and take the putter away. Nobody came and I sheepishly went to the checkout counter, still waiting for the joke to end, and paid $1.99 for that putter.

 

I was off and running in the putter Ho business and it is a whirlwind that I can't seem to shake, to this day. Now, it is more of a cycling through equipment and sampling it as I go. I don't get the incredible deals, very often, but I sure get to try out some great clubs.
