I didn't have to tell them. Three people including the manager looked at the club, then looked at the price and didn't say anything. I think they chalked to up to their error and gave it to me.

 

Now, if I changed the price tag then I would fully expect the golf gods to strike me down.

I love Cleveland Wedges. I was out at a local public County course and, as I always do, I checked the used clubs bin for a steal. I was about to resign to the fact that there was nothing, when one caught my eye. There was a tour action 900 gunmetal 60* wedge. It was a little dirty and the grooves needed to be cleaned out but it was in really good shape besides that. I took it to the counter and asked how much the used clubs were and was told everything is $5. Needless to say, I jumped on it, put it right in my bag and have been using it for about a year and a half now.

Was in GS looking at used clubs last week. Found an r7 Quad for $129. Not bad, but then checked it out and it was a TP with a 757 shaft. Bought it for the shaft with no intention of gaming the head. Cool, great deal right? Well, I get home and look at the serial number and its a TXXX Tour Edition head! Oh yeah, I had a 15% coupon so it cost me $110.

I sell medical equipment and spend a lot of nights in hotels looking for great golf deals. I recently was on the local CL site and saw a set of Cleveland CG1 Black Pearls for sale for $200...I thought that it was a pretty good deal but was not really in the market for any new clubs but decided to give the guy a call. He told me the clubs had been played 4x and he was "not a good enough golfer to hit them". I asked him if he was interested in any trades and he tells me that he is not looking for anymore golf gear but if I wanted the clubs he would sell them to me for $100.00 needless to say I am now the proud owner of CG1's with rifle flighted shafts.

 

Go figure.

i got a brand new Sonartec GS Tour 14* 3 Wood off ebay for $44... also got a set of MINT Tad Moore Tour Forged Cavity 3-PW irons on ebay for $99. those things were $1080 when they came out, and they looked new...also bought a set of new, never been hit, Spalding Custom Crafted Tour Editions 3-PW on ebay for $80, and a set of brand-new, never-hit, Spalding Top Flite Custom Made blades for $60... I still havent had the nerve to hit either one of them yet. They are too pretty

Also bought a set of brand new Wilson Fi5's at GS for $199 and resold them on ebay for $299. Last week I was at GS and they had a brand new set of Srixon i506's for $219....Shouldve bought those those, but didnt....

A lot of the used stuff at my GS are not necessarily priced as marked. If you ask for a price check, they'll it up in a price book. Always worth asking for a pricecheck.

I recently bought two brand new Nickent 4DX UT hybrids from GlobalGolf.com for $187.95 shipped (buy one for $99, get 25% off the 2nd hybrid), and received a 4DX D-Spec driver for free. The hybrids were already 50% off MSRP. I kept the driver, but traded in the hybrids at Golfsmith for stuff that I really wanted (got about 90% of what I paid for them, so I ended up with a new 4DX driver for roughly $30 or so). The 4DX UT hybrids were nice, but I didn't like them enough to replace my 04 Big Bertha 3 wood or my 18* Nike CPR-3 (which I bought for $39 brand new).

 

I also just bought a brand new 2007 Nike Sasquatch Sumo for my wife from GolfEtail.com for $62 from their eBay store (it was an auction). Got a used TEE driver in great condition from Carl's Golfland for $50. A whole set of new Srixon WG-706 wedges (52, 56, and 60) for about $150.

 

Ben Hogan BH-5 offsets for $119, "like new" from CallawayPreOwned.com (they were brand new with the cellophane still). Brand new Bridgestone GC OS irons for $150 from eBay.

 

Finally, I just got a set of TM r7 XD irons w/ graphite shafts for free from a friend who didn't want them, and didn't want any money for them. Can't beat free. I got to have them reshafted though (don't like graphite shafts in my irons) . . .

In July I bought an Adams Ovation 9 wood on eBay for 5 bucks plus $10 shipping. I caught it early in the auction, with an opening bid level of $3.50 or Buy It Now for $5. Tough choice. It included headcover and the club was easily in 9/10 condition. Looked like the guy hit it once and semi-skied the thing out near the toe, but without a sky mark, and gave up on the low profile design immediately. I thought I might resell it but it's been surprisingly dependable in the 180-190 range. I never liked the cheap Aldila graphite shafts of the Ovation series, but this club has True Temper steel and feels solid.

 

Otherwise, about 5-6 years ago I bought a TaylorMade 320 Ti driver with Prolite burgundy stiff on eBay. It was a very good but not exceptional price. The seller and I exchanged emails, mostly eBay strategy, and to my surprise the box arrived with a bonus -- 2 of the 320 Ti drivers, virtually identical. I kept the better cosmetic model and sold the other one on eBay for higher than my original purchase price.

 

To be honest, my favorite bargain is one that probably wouldn't mean anything here. I replaced my teenage Haig Ultra irons on eBay almost exactly a year ago, 2-PW for 32 bucks. They have R flex shafts, perfect for me at this age, and are in wonderful condition. The 51 degree pitching wedge feels like stealing on chip shots. I saw the exact set offered on eBay over the weekend and I darn near bit again. It went for $41 and change.

I just went into the Golfsmith today and found my holy grail. A sonartec 17* 4 wood staring at me. The price was $19.93. Couldn't believe it, ran to the register and bought it. Come to find out from my "friend" who works there, it was supposed to be $119.93. Whoops!

I bought a tour Vokey a year or so ago on ebay for 110 and re sold it for 300. I also bought a SC Laguna on here for 140 a few years ago and recently sold it for 230. I've also of course lost on some and gained on others. It's really important to have nice bright and clear pictures when you list items. Overall I'm sure I've lost on more than I've gained due to paying Ebay and shipping costs but it's always fun trying out different clubs.

man you arent kidding. nice clear pictures sure do make a difference when you sell stuff. ive seen soooo many awesome deals go for next to nothing because the seller didnt take the time to take good photos. thats how i got my set of brand new, never used, Spalding Tour Editions for $80. the guy took blurry pictures with his cell phone camera....

HAHA yea, I stay away from this thread for the exact reason. I read teh guy finding black pearls for 100 dollars and went straight to craigslist. Didn't find anything good like that. Saw a SQ#2 5 wood go for like 50 bucks today on ebay.

Back in this past winter after the Nike Sumo SQ 5900 driver came out at $450 they started marking down the first version of the square Sumo driver to around $199. I saw one place that had the first version at $150. I ordered it. THey were temporarily out of it, so they had it drop shipped directly from Nike. Nike sent the new 5900 version! Sweet! These have just gone down in price to $299 I think. So, mine at $150 was sweeeet!
