Hey guys. I'm jumping on the bandwagon! I just ordered a new Version 3 of the pro orange and was wondering if anyone could explain the difference between the 3. Thanks in advance!

no idea about the v1, the V2 is mid launch and low spin.

How much tipping on your White currently? with he new orange, how are you allowing for the lower swing weight and how much tipping?

My pro white is tipped 1/2" and I absolutely love the shaft! It is longer and straighter than anything I've hit before. I had my m4 head hotmelted with 7g in anticipation of trying this shaft and to mute it a little. If I can squeeze a couple mph of ball speed out of the pro orange and keep the flight and dispersion the same I will be thrilled!

Tollbros can likely chime in with more accurate descriptions, but my understanding was that it went like this:

V1 - A counterbalanced adaptation of the Blue profile. Was deemed too spinny and unstable and was scrapped fairly quickly. Based on the EI Profile it looks a bit like what the CK Pro Red became.

V2 - Some sort of nebulous middle ground between a Blue and White Profile also counterbalanced. Launches and spins between the two.

V3 (retail) - Fully moved towards the butt soft/tip stiff White profile with the same counterbalance.

This is just a guess, but it seems that the protos moved progressively towards a more tip stiff design as the additional weight that was being added to heads to offset the counterbalance was being accounted for in the core design.

So the v3 is basically a counterbalanced pro white?

That is what it was being called during testing, but the main difference is that the Orange is using an even stronger material in the tip section and the butt section is obviously constructed a little differently. If you take their EI Profile as gospel then it has a stiffer tip and a softer mid and butt section than the White.

I did notice that on their website. I wonder if I should tip it a half inch like my pro white is. The last thing I want to do is mess this shaft up!

I just put an orange in my m3. I have been trying to find the right shaft for a bit now and think I finally have it. I have used a Synergy Proto from Toll, a D+, a Phene'd, a 7m3 Black tie... The Synergy gave me good numbers but felt much too loose, it felt soft to flex but certainly didn't play that way, I just didn't like the way it felt, no complaints on performance. The D+ was solid but my dispersion was a bit wider than I liked to see. The Phene'd was outstanding in the 1st M3 head I had. I cracked that and the replacement/ Phene'd combo just isn't working out the same way for whatever reason. The black Tie feels so ungodly stiff that I can't believe I played it for so long.

The Orange is giving me the same kind of numbers as the Synergy with a much more stable, tight feeling. As it is counter balanced I can go up in head weight too and that's equaling same swing speed with more mass in the head, right now it's 340g total weight at D2.6. I'm still playing around with head weight but I built an Aeroburner with a Tour Green which is also counter balanced that weighs in at 350g and D3.3, added hotmelt to toe/crown with some tape on the sole and that thing is a cannon as well.

Once I settle on a weight for the M3 I'll most likely hotmelt it, I have an extra 5g weight in there now but I'm not a fan of adding weights and I like to add weight to the crown. The Orange probably has the stiffest/most stable tip of any shaft I've ever tested to date. Right now the AB is longer, but the M3 with the Orange is very accurate, maybe the most accurate shaft I've ever used (and that's with it being too light in the head). I wouldn't call the orange super low launching, more mid.. But the spin is very low and the flight is very flat, even when I launch it too high which is something I have a habit of doing lately, especially with a lighter head. I'd guess I had 2 or 3 drives that carried about 280-285 that were in the 150-170ft apex range, 110-125 is where I want to be. A lot of that is swing, part of it is headweight affecting swing, but that height was probably costing me 20 yards of carry plus roll as I was getting 0. Lead tape doesn't stick too well inside the channel so last round the M3 was around D0, way too light and difficult to strike consistently for me but it still performed well, though obviously not optimal.

For the purpose I think the newest version of the Orange is the best, for the people who liked previous versions, going with a Blue 10g lighter with some lead tape under the grip will probably replicate that feel/performance of the earlier oranges.

After gaming it I can definitely understand why Tiger and others who have put it in play have had to tinker with the head weight and set up to get it right... It's not as simple as setting it up at you're favorite swing weight and being good to go. I would imagine this shaft is a fitter/builders nightmare. But I think if you can put in the time to dial it in it's well worth it.

I was watching a review on YouTube and they said it feels stout and you have to put extra behind it to get it to work.

I'm debating ordering a gmax 9* but on my standard g400 head my launch is a little low but my spin is above 3k. I tried the tour 65 stuff, kuro Kage and have the rogue black in my head. Swing speed around 98-102.

Was really debating tensei pro blue or white then picking up a orange pro.

All models are counterbalanced.

V1 was stiffer feeling, still low spin but just didn't quite feel right. Very few were made and they are near impossible to find.

V2 is higher launch and spin and very smooth feeling. It works great with a smooth tempo swing and is incredibly linear and smooth.

V3 or Pro Orange is the current retail model and is mid launch and very low spin. Smooth yet crisp with a beautiful linear load sensation.

Thanks for all the awesome feedback guys! I wonder what version the guys on tour are using? Also with the V3 being called retail, could that make the price drop on these?

They all play Pro Orange. Due to the expensive material and build complexity of pro orange it is more expensive than the other Tensei products. MSRP is $450. We sell for $399.

V1 and V2 are prototypes only, no retail. The only Tensei Oranges that are available are the OEM CK Orange and the CK Pro Orange which is what the V3 became.

I play a Pro White 60TX and got a good deal on a Pro Orange V3 70TX last week. I hit it for the first time yesterday. I love my White and never considered changing, but the Orange was something special. The feel and sound is much different than the White, and I was hitting it farther too. I came across a V2 70TX yesterday and it'll be here tomorrow. I'll hit my white, the V3 orange and V2 orange during the same session and report back. Right now I have no clue how the V2 will be better than the V3.

Well my findings where not what I was hoping for with the pro orange. My control was not as good as with the white. Distance was good but didnt see any gains over the white. The pro white in my m4 iz the longest and straightest combo "for me". I spent $365 for this shaft and installed a tour taylormade tip. Playing just under 45" in the m4 topped 1/2". Just throwing that out there if anyone is interested;)

I will probably give it a better side by side next week but I'm really liking the pro white. The orange is no doubt a great shaft. I am officially on the tensei wagon. Completely out performing my tour ad shafts!

Didn't the seller you purchased from advise you on adding headweight and how to tweak the feel of the shaft? It's not as simple as plug and play.

I was aware that this shaft would require some added headweight. I have had my m4 hotmelted with an additional 7g. I am definitely going to give it a other go. For me I have just been blown away with the pro white.

I hit the V2 for the first time yesterday and found it to play much more like the white than the V3. The V3 is the most anti-left shaft I have ever hit. I can pull it, but it is very hard to hook it. I don't see myself ever getting rid of it. I also played my first full round with the V3 this past weekend and was in spots on the course which I had never been before. My typical swing speed is 107-108, and in summer heat/firm fairways here in Mississippi I don't struggle on any length par 4 (for the most part). I hit 3-4 tee shots on Sunday that were 15-20 yards deeper than I'd ever been on those holes. And I was fit for my previous Tensei Pro White and before that I played an AD DI 6x for a couple years. Both were launching in the 13-14* range and spinning around 2200 on good strikes. So it's not like I was sacrificing my potential. I haven't hit the V3 on a launch monitor yet, but the V3 has increased both my swing speed and ball speed--there is no other explanation. And I feel like a lot of that has to do with me having full confidence in really going at tee shots without any fear in my mind of going left.

I have a few more rounds under my belt with the Pro Orange (V3) and I continue to have better and better driving days than I ever have before. High, low, draw, fade... It's very responsive and long, plus it is a familiar profile so the load and kick feel familiar. Yesterday I had multiple drives that were in places that I have never been before and was much more accurate. It has blown the doors off of every other driver shaft I have used. I have a KK XD coming that I ordered together with the Orange and I don't even want to build it.

As I have said prior, you need to swingweight the club and tinker with it. 5g less in the head and it was not as accurate and did not feel as good. Added another 5g weight to the M3 and feel was back and the shaft and club came alive.

And I feel like a lot of that has to do with me having full confidence in really going at tee shots without any fear in my mind of going left.

Confidence is a helluva drug and I imagine that plays the biggest role here. To KNOW literally anything in this game is rare enough, let alone with the driver, so to have a driver setup that you know won't go left probably frees up your swing a bit. Counterbalance does seem to impact some people's swing speeds as well.
