Odyssey Black number 2

I switched from a Newport and love it!

I had always wanted the new Odyssey Black number 2 since it came out. The local shop here didn't have a 35 inch so when I was switching from a mallet style (Scotty Cameron Phantom Futura II) I went with a Scotty Cameron Newport. This was a great putter with a nice feel but I still had always wanted the number 2. Since I am a ho when the local Pro Golf got the 35 in I played with it in the shop for at least an hour and a half. I left and came back the next day and played a little more with it. I eventually pulled the trigger and love the smooth feel of the short stick. I love everything from the grip to the set-up of the club. I play the Titleist NXT Tour and that ball is SO silky smooth off the number 2. To me, it feels 100 times better then the Newport. I had an eagle yesterday on a par five with a testy right to lefter from 20 feet. The number 2 performed like a champ. I even like the head cover for it. The magnet closing flap is a real class act too me. It is better then the velcro (hook pile/tape for any Jumpmasters out there).

I was wondering if anyone else had tried and liked the Odyssey milled putters as much as I did. I still love my Scotty but I think that I am done buying putters...until the next cool guy club comes out since I am a HO!

I've putted around in my local golf shop a fair amount with the 2 (my favorite from the series) and liked it a lot. However, for the money I prefer my Ping Redwood Anser. Seems to look "more expensive" (not a fan of the stickers on the Odyssey) and putts like a gem. But the Black Series are still excellent putters, my hat is off to Odyssey.

I added a Black Series 2 to the bag this year and have really liked it. Has a nice crisp feel/sound. Funny thing is that I like the sound best with Pro V1s, as the HX Tour ball actually sounds/feels too firm with the Black Series. Surprised that the Odyssey/Callaway combo isn't fine-tuned a bit more

Despite that, love the putter. Nice, heavy weight, great craftsmanship and outstanding performance. A good start to non-insert putters for Odyssey.

I can't believe that more people have not made the switch to the Black Series. I love my Scotty Cameron putters but it seems that you are paying an awful lot for a name rather than a putter. I think that Odyssey has come up with a quality milled putter to compete with Scotty.

Have taken a look at these Black series putters. My local Golfsmith has a Prototype #1 ($299) that is especially nice. Bit darker color and comes with no shaft labels and a "Pingman" type grip that says Odyssey.

But one thing that struck me as odd about the Black series is the alignment of the siteline versus the insert. If, like me, you like to use the siteline as an visual indicator of the sweet spot, then it doesn't work on these. The sightline doesn't line up with the center of the insert. Not sure why they'd not want the sightline and insert lined up.
