Stuck on PING s55's

Just bought yet another set of these, may God have mercy on my soul.  As nice as the Blueprint S/T’s are there’s just something about Ping’s forged irons that don’t do it for me.

looks like fitz is going back to the s55s. Don’t know exactly when he went back but good to see a pro putting these grails back in the bag. 
 

My backup set is a set of s55s and still like just hitting them.

I'd love to see Matt win again soon with any irons, but especially S55s.

 

And I won't be too surprised if Stephan Jaeger returns to his S55s, too.

They used to have new s55 irons for warranty issues but I would think s55 might be out of warranty by now.

I haven't hit the S55s myself, but could the popularity be partly due to weight being more to the toe (cdim >1.35) than any other players category iron, incl. i230, i210, blueprints etc.? It's a minimal difference, but S55 blade is not that lengthy so it sets it even further apart from others. It increases MOI while still having the sole design and vcog like a cb/mb.

So what's the practical difference between an S55 and a Blueprint S? I know they are darn near the same, but what's the ball characteristics sending these guys back?

Last check on eBay had a 4-P going for over 400 with a “value” condition. I wouldn’t mind another set. 
Other than my Taylormade PSI Tours, the Ping S55 set 3 iron was a favorite. Super forgiving and great look at address.

I picked up an S55 5-W set on Callaway Preowned a few months ago, Recoil 95 proto regulars, for $280 in pretty good shape:-)

 

I played Founder’s Club series 200 blades in x100s as a young man, but that was decades and a couple surgeries ago. I bought the S55s because I like recoil 95s and wanted a cheap backup set.  I figured I couldn’t handle S55s but what the heck.

 

I’m shocked that I hit them better than my JPX GIs.  I know getting the right shaft is huge, plus I’m usually near the middle of the face anyway, so maybe GI isn’t so important. It also helps that I like hybrids, so not interested in playing the long irons.
 

I actually hit the ball higher than the JPXs.  Same distance based on lofts. I don’t like the strong lofts on new GI clubs, what’s the point.
 

Maybe I could play Blueprint S in similar shaft?  For now, I looking on YT how to refurb irons, got the Dremel out, want to spruce them up.  What a bargain, after wasting money on other stupid purchases.

I thought about sending mine in for regrip, reshaft, and refurbish vs buying a new set 🤷🏼‍♂️ They have been an awesome set of irons
