Vice Golf Balls

Have you guys ever played the Vice golf balls? This guy makes a good point, and says they’re as good as pro v1 and tp5...

I've gamed the Pro and Pro+ and while they weren't terrible, they weren't great either. I found they felt a bit 'dead' on contact, and the differences between the two for performance were negligible. Comparisons to the ProV1 draw a long bow in my opinion.

 

There are better DTC balls available around the same price point, I'd encourage you to try those before the Vice - Snell MTB Red (for firm feel) and OnCore Elixr (for soft feel) should be top of the list.

Thanks for the feedback. In terms of spin and ball flight, how would you guys compare to pro v1, tp5, chrome soft, etc.

I'm quite a high-spin player so I like to see 4 and 5 irons hit and stick with little rollout and the Vice balls won't do that for me. Far as launch goes the Vice balls have a mid-range launch, not quite as low as a ProV1 but not as high as the TP5. Not played a Chromesoft so can't speak to those. I think you can do better than Vice, here's a performance comparison from my testing.

 

If you're playing a ProV1 - try a Snell MTB Black or Red

If you're playing a TP5 - try the Project(a), they're very close at a cheaper price point

If you're playing a ChromeSoft - I'm guessing you could try the Wilson DuoU or the Forte Tour Performance S

 

Actually the Forte Tour Performance S is ideal if you're looking for minimum driver spin with max green side spin, and their new Tour Trajectory is a 4-piece version that spins up a bit more with the driver. Might be a bit pricey to ship to California but they're the one ball that takes the low-spin-driver and high-spin-wedge in a single ball to max performance. When you're 40 out on a bare lie carrying a bunker to a tucked pin, Tour Performance S will stick for you, wow they're spinny.

I personally think golf ball performance for 99% of golfers is negligible once you start using a 3 or 4 piece urethane ball. Most 'testing' people do simply relates to how well they were striking the ball one day to the next.

The rest is just down to what you like the feel of for putting and chipping...so you might find Vice balls 'feel' the best for you which is fine.

Where I live, once you factor in postage, and the fact you have to buy so many of them to get the best deals, I find the Srixon Z star balls to currently be the best value by far. You can get them on sale all the time on eBay or though online stores. They work for me.

 

But hey, if you try them and you like them, pull the trigger by all means.

The Vice Soft is a great ball for me. It's a s long as anything I've ever hit and spins like crazy on the greens.

The Pro Plus is a great ball. Not so keen on the other two urethane balls as previously mentioned they feel a bit dead and "heavy" off the shorter clubs. Their 2 piece balls are fantastic value for money.

I have played around with the Pro, Pro+ and Soft. All performed well, nothing spectacular but nothing stood out as poor either. I like the direct companies but I cannot justify the price for these as unless you buy 4/5 dozen at a time there are much better values out there. Overall a good ball and if they were more competitively priced for 1/2 dozen I would put them in the rotation.
