I’ve played a few full rounds now with my new TSW DRM 52.8 and 56.12 wedges and couldn’t be happier. Zero complaints. Got them paired with TT dynamic gold S300 iron shafts and golf pride mcc align grips to match my irons. They look great, feel great, and spin!

my old wedges were, well, old, and these are definitely spinning the ball more. Especially with these tight, clippy August fairways.

I’m telling everyone who asks to look into golfworks.com.

That's what I bought this year but the 50 and 56

S flex.  I have R flex in my MPF shafts (4W & 21* HyWay).  I sold my Sim2 Max with the same problem but it had a Hzrds Black 65gm S flex.  Guy at PGASS said it was the weight of the shaft and not the flex so I got the M4 with the Atmos 55 gm S flex.  I hit about 5-6 different drivers.

Keep in mind that there is no standard for an R or S flex in the industry, just like there isn't a standard for blue, black, white, red, etc. profiles.

I struggle with anything more than 44.5" and/or too soft of a shaft profile because of an aggressive transition.  If I followed the distance for flex recommendations I'd still be lost and hitting 3 wood off the tee due to spraying the ball.

It took some experimentation with different shafts and adjusting head weight to get something that worked.  It ended up being 70g 6.0 flex black profile shaft playing at 44.25" and adding 10g of weight to the head.  A blue profile from the same manufacturer in the same 6.0 flex with the same playing length and head will not work unless I keep a smooth tempo, as soon as I get aggressive with the soft middle blue profile anything can happen.

IIRC the MPF shafts have a reputation for being a full flex stronger than most others (ie the MPF R is similar to others S flex).  Have you thought about buying an MPF wood shaft and adapter for your driver?

Yes, LOL, actually about an hour ago I was looking at that.  I have MPF shafts in my 4W and HyWay R flex.  I hit the 4W straight as an arrow whether off the deck or fairway.  When I hit it close to center face I carry 200-215

It would be an inexpensive experiment, the shaft is something like $35 and most adapters are less than $20.  You probably already know that, lol.

Yes!  LOL  Bring it to PGASS to have it assembled.  I don't have any assembly capabilities anymore.   They charge a few bucks.  I do that with grips.  I buy the grips on Amazon and they charge $3.00 a club to regrip

I'm fairly certain that Golf Works offers assembly of components bought from them for a small fee.

I'm going to try to loft up +2* and see what happens otherwise looking for alternative.

I have no idea what will fix any issue you have, so this is not advice, just what happened to me. I found the swing weight on my driver was significantly different than my irons. The new PING heads are a tad heavier than the earlier ones ( I understand or was told. I didn't weigh them). I could swap shafts in the PING I25 but the G425 wasn't as receptive. The counter balance shafts became a thing to keep the swing weight reasonable.  My counter balance shaft had a D4 swing weight, my Motore X had an E3 or somewhere near it. I never checked swing weight until I began getting more concerned with greater driver accuracy. When I brought the driver swing weight more in line with what I was hitting the rest of the bag at, my driver got more friendly, a lot more friendly. But as @Popeye64 says YRMV.

Increasing shaft loft on an adjustable driver closes the face. I don't know what a heavier swing weight does.

FYI, Ping changed their adaptor for the G400 and forward so the adaptor from your i25 won't fit in the G425.

Question for @Popeye64 about a related topic: are you still playing the progressive-weighted Rapid Taper setup? I have looked and it appears they no longer have the matte black, graphic-less option, which is a bummer because the pictures I've seen look incredible.

The matte black, no graphics was a production run I did myself. They sold out almost instantly. I held back some for my own builds. They are long gone.

As for the progressive weight set. I'm playing almost all 105g shafts. The wedges are the 115g weights. My 4, 5 iron is a 95g.

The set I just built using the PTM Black heads is all 105 R+ shafts hard stepped. Those show some amazing early results. Going to a softer flex seems to have me gaining some distance.

I'm no longer a part of Xcaliber but I do have all the factory connections. A new no graphics production run wouldn't be a bad idea.

I didn't know you had worked for them! I'll update my dossier. They seem like a very cool company and to the extent I can afford it I prefer my money going to them than large OEMs. I don't hate the new graphics but an all-black set like that would be very cool and I'd very likely be in for an order. I need to get a few test shafts to try.

Lofting up should close the face which could help with the push and push fade.  I usually set the latest drivers to +2 just to get the face more square.  Some of the recent drivers I had were several degrees open in the +2 position and waaay too open in the -2 position.  In the old TM driver days I always found Neutral Upright perfect.  I miss buying hand selected stuff from Wishon.

Start getting the 719MW from Wishon. Adjustability done right. Complimenting the 919THI.

That would fall into the Maltby MPF Pro DR shaft

I had the same problem with my ventus 55 stiff in a TM sim2. Bought the last Maltby iso-t in a aldila tour 69g blue ($120) and hitting it much better , 260 at 100ss, when I was at the golfworks last weak I hit the ke4 t and max and was very impressed. For $200 the ke4 in mpf s65 or r60 would work well with a lesson or two!

From what I’ve heard the ISO-T is a low

Spinning head but I’ve never personally hit it.

The new Max driver head is very good on all aspects. Sound, feel, and launch are all very good for me.

Yes, if I had more dollars I would have gotten the Max in Mpf 65S as well, I read all about the iso being low launch and spinning and it is, helping me out a lot. The aldila tour blue is a mid launching shaft but at 69g , the heaviest if ever hit I really like it! Still going to try max with mpv65s in the future after I get the 23’ 5 ke max iron to kick out a hybrid.

@Popeye64 Is there a reason the Rapid Taper 105 is 43" but the 95 is 41" blank? They're probably not that far apart given the two inch difference in blank, right?

During development we asked to make the shaft at 43 so when I was testing it, I had trimming options. So when the shaft worked so well I said to leave well enough alone. Make it 43 and leave options for a club builder.

The shaft still has the standard tip trimming. So on the shaft butt you'll see a CPM number. That is for the shaft at 43. If you clamped the shaft at 41 you would get a 310 CPM. Same as the other weights.

It was painful to leave as I put my heart and soul into those shafts.

I got the TS-3 set that it replacing the KE4 Max set today. It's got the heavier TT Dynamic Gold shaft in it instead of the Score LT shafts that were in the KE4 Max. The TS-3 feel noticeably lighter in swing weight. When I hold the KE4 Max the head feels a bit heavy and like my wrists have to work to rotate in the backswing, whereas the TS-3 feel much more natural and agile in my hands. The head weights and grips weigh the same between the two clubs, so would the heavier shaft have anything to do with the balance?

Anyway, I only had a couple minutes to check them out in between family coming over for the holiday weekend. First impressions are that the TS-3 are absolutely stunning aesthetically. I liked the KE4 Max well enough, but their looks didn't give me butterflies in the stomach like the TS-3 do. Also, I completely understand why people prefer to look down at a thinner top line now. Looking down at the TS-3 just brings me joy. They look sleek and purposeful.

I'll be comparing 7i to 7i and GW to GW at the range on Saturday!

Lastly, @Popeye speaks the truth in regards to loft. Once I checked my ego at the door and moved from 9° driver, 15° 3 wood, and 19° 3 hybrid to 11.5° driver, 18° 5 wood, and 21° HyWay, I could suddenly hit the ball further and at a height that is actually playable.

If the swing weight is the same, the lighter shafted clubs can feel heavier even if the overall weight is lighter.

Looking for a shaft recommendation for a 5 wood for my adult son.  He kills his driver, a cast KE4 with the silver Xcaliber with red graphics 6+ S flex at 44 inches.  It seems to fit him great.   With roll out he is in the 260 range.  Gonna guess he’s 100 MPH.

I’m looking to either reshaft his 5 wood, a KE4 of the same vintage as the driver, or buy a club pak of the STi2 5 wood with the MPF Fairway shaft.

Comments/suggestions on:

-Existing KE4 5W vs. STi2?

-Shaft recommendation based on his success with the AXE?  Will the MPF fairway shaft be decent?  Stiff flex?

If I order the pak and let GW assemble it, will they use a heavier weight for free, if needed to hit the specified swing weight?  I hate having to guess and pay extra for weights if I am going to assemble it.

I found the combination that's going to work for me.  TS2 with GD iron shaft.  I built up a 7 iron with this combination and it is so sweet.  Hard to believe it's a sub $30 shaft.

GD iron shaft?

Don't wait long to order the set.  Once they hit closeout, things can go out of stock in a hurry.
