All three of my daughters played travel softball and on into college (D1, D2 and D3).  My son played travel baseball.  Between catchers equipment, bats and mitts the cost of sports is outrageous across the board.

Yes $300+ for a composite bat that you need to break in to make it hotter and then hopefully you can actually use it before it cracks.

 

Makes me wonder, do the TM composite drivers get hotter once they've "broken" in?

I quit slopitch for more golf because it is full-time "hitting". I spent some silly money on bats but they still don't come close to the price that drivers from the big four cost now.

Still not as expensive as hockey. I'm very glad that none of my kids have shown any interest in playing hockey. Golf is cheap in comparison!

Catching up on the RalphMaltby site and was excited to see that they are targeting late fall or winter release for the TE+ and TE+ Black. Britt is saying they are done and in production. I think I am going to try two experiments in one by building a TE+ Black 6 iron with a Modus 120 S shaft in it (always been interested in that shaft and have hit it well in testing).

Yes, they do. Rory talked about it early in the year when he was struggling with the Stealth 2 and he mentioned that he wished that he could use his old driver but it was now out of spec. The Tour does CT testing at events to make sure that drivers are still within spec. Note that drivers with other face materials can also get hotter through use. Which doesn't happen with baseball bats.

It sounds like they’ll keep the existing DBM and TE models around after + models arrive later this year. What are the odds the existing heads see a discount when that time comes?

Got the STh2 5 hybrid today, 7 business days after placing the order, so not a bad turnaround time. Impressions are that the club looks much nicer in person than on the website, as is tradition with Maltby. Look at address is nice and square with the face tall enough to inspire confidence. I'm going to be testing it out at the range tomorrow!

I hate to say it, but all of the great reviews of the TS1-IM irons have me wondering... anyone have a 7, 8, or 9 trial head you aren't using?

Just curious, did you receive an email advising the club has shipped? If so, how many days after putting in the order?

I don't know how I ever stopped playing these.... 

PTM Blacks. Such an all around awesome iron. Als9 loving the hard stepped 105R flex. And a new grip obsession. Royal Linktech full cord...

Another successful range trip, thanks to Maltby. Tried out the new 5 hybrid and nearly retired it after the first shot.

 

 

I'm getting exactly the distance gap I wanted and it is so nice to hit. I love hybrids because it feels more like an iron swing than my woods do. I have started to hook my woods, while my irons continue to go straight, so I gotta figure that out. 

 

My bag is now all Maltby sans driver/putter and I'm enjoying golf more than ever.

Yes, I get an email saying the order is complete and an additional shipping email. It took 6 business days for them to ship this one out.

Didn't you have a lot of trouble with the turf interaction with those before you started this thread about the TS2? That the leading edge was too sharp and digging too much because you are steep? Swings can change a lot in 4-5 years though.

That was the MMB-17 Blacks. The PTMs are totally different animals.

I would buy another set of the  PTM Blacks in the blink of an eye. 

The relieved leading edge. Slightly oversized face. Amazing sound through the ball. Great spin rates and a higher flight. Excellent feel. 

I played them today but with the TS1-IM GW. 

The heads are impervious to bag chatter and overall wear. I had several shots from 170-185 yards that were within a foot of thier ball mark. They just land dead!!! 

And again I feel the best attribute is the sound they make during contact. I don't know that I play any better with them, compared to the TS1-IM, but I do love everything about them. 

My driver swing was trash today and I was playing from the weeds or behind trees all day long. But the shots I did have from the fairway were So much fun to play.

Just ordered a set of those grips to go along with a set of DBMs I just snagged on the electronic bay. Looking forward to both!

Just got a set of TS2 this afternoon.  Went to the pro shop to pick up a few things and seen they had a set on sale with the plastic still on the heads.  KBS 105. I decided to get them and after a range session I think I like these better than the Srixon zx7 mkII.  Maybe it’s the KBS shaft , but imo these feel softer than the zx7.  Easy to hit and look good.  Top line a little thick but overall a good looking club.

My heart stopped when I saw this and I don't even want or need another set of irons.  I put the Core Blue in my PING G425 and loved it immediately. KE4 Max with Core Blue shafts at this price is such a gift from Maltby and the gang. Someone jump on this.

@Popeye64 I found the below screenshots from a post you did back in 2018 on another site. After looking at this and the MPF data I am surprised you had a hard time with the TS3. I know there are slight differences but I am still surprised you didn't get along with them.

Those Royal grips are dang good. I went with the Royal 360’s on my latest set which I like as well.

I haven't reshafted them yet. I've had all the supplies to do it in my cart multiple times, but I'm having a hard time pulling the trigger. I'm not sure why, since the DG S300 shaft is definitely not a good fit for me. I need a high launching shaft. 

 

I went to the range this morning and I'm still loving the TS3 heads. When I look at them at address, they look extremely intimidating compared to the longer, bigger KE4 Max. But I somehow manage to keep finding the center with them and I've seen my number of poor shots actually go down

...so I'm going to be testing swapping out a TM MG3 50 degree wedge for my current TS4 gamer. Overall I've been having good luck with the TS4s in GW and PW, but am curious to experiment with different bounces. When I had the TS1 OGs, I didn't really use the gap wedge for partial shots, but now I do extensively (and to a lesser extent, PW). The TS4s are a degree higher in bounce than the OG TS1s, so I didn't really think about higher bounce options at first (especially since I like a compact head in my wedges, and there aren't really that many on offer. Even the MG4s have bigger heads than the 3s). But I have an extra shaft and grip lying around, so we'll see. I know I'm a broken record on this, but I'd love to see Maltby update their Tour Grind MG wedge line.
