Does the All-Fit adaptor fit regular adaptors for OEM shafts? I don't mind doing some work to get a proper fit and I have a drill press so no issue drilling.

Nearly every shop or OEM fitting cart are different head and shaft systems. Though many private shops have adopted the All-Fit system. You may need to do some home work and see who has what.

My course has a few fitting bags and a Trackman. The Pro there would fit me for a shaft but I want to try the shaft and head combination. They only sell Cobra at my course.

The Pro told me that shaft weight should generally match 7i ball speed, which would put me into 130 gram shafts. The Score LT is 117g uncut and launches too high for me now. I want to bring the ball flight down but I'm also worried that going to a 130g shaft like an x100 is not going to work. Basically, I want to be more sure of my shaft choice before I buy something.

When I have tried “fitting” myself on the range, it was pretty easy to tell when a shaft is working.
I did this once on the range, and our assistant pro was giving a lesson.
He actually stopped and told me I had the right combination, because he heard the sound off the club, and the ball just just flying off the face.
I get it, it’s not the combination of a Maltby head with a particular shaft, but I think it’s still a good way to find a shaft that fits your swing.
You are looking TS4, just hit balls with Cobra’s new blade or CB.
Edit* And yes, I used range balls.

More as a starting point, especially once you get into higher swing speeds. I sit around 93-95 mph clubhead on my 7i while swinging easy. 35° is very much a traditional loft, the original TS1 I play is at 32° and I hit the ball very high, like 125+ feet. The ball doesn't balloon on me, it just goes really high.

What is your ball speed with 7i and that swing speed? I’m assuming you have that if you have your mph. Also how many yards are you carrying your 7i?

pure speculation, but you sound similar to what I would say, you might like something in 130g. I agree with @Cwebb with dynamic gold 130s in S or X depending on how quick your tempo/transition is. Or modus tour 130. If you like the feel of those they do make a 120 version of each as well.

I just went and hit a few shafts the other day and was surprised when I got to the DG130, it felt like cheating. I had convinced myself I wanted something in the 120g category…but the swing felt so much smoother with the weight of the 130g. It felt like it was keeping the clubhead behind the hands a little longer for better compression and I jumped a few mph in ball speed. In theory the heavier shaft should slow the swing down, but a better swing will always trump a faster swing.

Cool cool! Thanks for the info!

Maybe I'll drive to Ottawa and get fit at Golf Works Canada...

I've seen 135mph ball speed with a good strike on Trackman indoors using a Titleist RCT ball. I was more typically in the 123-125 range due to strike quality. I haven't been on a launch monitor since the spring but my swing has gotten a lot better and my strike quality has gone up over the summer. At the range with a range ball (not restricted flight balls but still range balls) I'm dropping them around the 175 yard mark with an average strike and a great strike going 190. I play my seven iron as 170 carry as that seems to be what happens on a course as it's not grooved from hitting ten in a row. My strike quality has gone way up in the last 4 to 6 weeks so my distances aren't completely known right now.

I started a full swing rebuild last year when the snow hit and it's now starting to feel good. I'm currently focusing on a smooth tempo and staying down through impact. I have a fairly smooth transition, I wouldn't call it aggressive at all. When I get aggressive my swing falls apart; which is why I mostly suck with my driver. I just want to test shafts with the head I want lol.

My woods and driver have the original grips too. Those are next to be replaced when I've got the budget to do so.

Do you have your eye on any Maltby models to replace your woods?

If so then yes, anything is going to be better.

You would certainly think so!  The real answer is in what happens to the handicap over time with the new clubs.  New clubs that are easier to hit with new grips should drop the index a bit should it not?  I wonder if anyone reading this has experience with a drop in handicap associated with buying new clubs?  Or perhaps the opposite?  LOL been there a few times...

I've got my eye on about five different woods right now. The Stf and M890 from Maltby, Lazrus Woods, Gigagolf TRX woods, and the Wilson deep red woods.

I'm really trying to stay budget without going used. I think having nothing but used clubs for years has given me a complex lol.

I only have experience with the Maltby woods out of that list, but I can recommend them. The other place to watch is Tour Edge's E722 series on their website. They're closing out the model since it's last years model and you can get some great deals last I checked.

Sorry for the double post, but if anyone is looking to place a Golfworks order, now is the time to do it. I ordered a TS3 iron set on Friday the 22nd and it's slated for delivery today, only 5 business days later. And that's including the 1 business day lost due to me having to approve and pay for the upgraded grips.

Question for the club builders. Has anyone used a device like this before to determine swing weight? You can also do this with a diy option with different calculations available. AJ from Elite Fit Golf YouTube did a good video on the process. Anyways I just received some used TS3 heads and I am going to order up some shafts and supplies, but when I build the set I wanted to check swing weight without having to buy a $100 or so scale. So could this route of calculating swing weight be a viable option or am I missing a big flaw in doing it this way?

Thank you for any replies!!

Well things have a way of chaning a bit ...

I now have some used TS3 heads coming my way. I was looking at graphite shafts and there are some NV Shafts on sales. Has anyone used both those NV  and MPF shafts to give a feel perspective on them. I am going for more mid launch since I don't have trouble getting the ball in the air and the COG of the TS3 heads. Not much different in price so I was curious if anyone has used them?

And there is possibly 2 other options that caought my eye as well. Rapport Core Blue and Tensei AV Silver Hybrid/Iron. If anyone has thoughts on those as well I would appreciate the feedback. That's about as expensive as I want to go and specs wise all of them should fit the bill for me ... I think.

You're going to love the TS3. They're as easy to hit as the STi2, in my opinion, but they feel insanely soft too.

I was going down the road of TS1 IM and then these came up. So we will see, I may still do a 7 iron test on the IM next year. I think I am going to try the NV shafts that are on sale if they are still available. I won't be able to try it out for a couple of months but I will report back once I get to hit them.

You dont even need that. Just an accurate tape measure, a kitchen scale, a sharpie and something small to

balance the club on (back of a razor blade works well)

This is a review of the Maltby TS1-IM irons and the TSW 56 degree wedge. I never post reviews, but I feel like I owe one here as I benefitted greatly from the information you all posted. Skip past the "**** " to get to the club review.

I'm a beginner golfer who had never heard of Maltby until 2 weeks ago. I hated my first set of irons, thick soled and heavy offset Taylormade M CGB. I spent years mishitting and topping every ball. There was no question I wasn't practicing much, maybe the range a few times a year where I would leave frustrated about my lack of ability. Any time on the course was spent with friends where I played 100 yards and in. I topped almost all the balls I ever hit, most skidding off 10 yards or so. I had a few decent shots a year where I would get the ball in the air. I am 31 and bigger, but always swinging out of my shoes and getting awful contact. My best friends are avid golfers and I have access to nice courses with them, but was always embarrassing myself and never "one of the guys" in terms of golf.

This all changed in the last month. Determined to get better, I hit 100 balls a day for the last month. I was doing better, but I still hated my clubs, especially the turf interaction. I need forgiveness and something without the offset dialed up to 100.  I stumbled on a recommendation for maltby clubs. I have read everything that is written on Maltby clubs from the last 3 years. @Popeye64 you are a gentleman and scholar. I gathered tons of honest and impartial information from reading your posts. I am now interested in building clubs and plan to dive into that with my best friend.  If you're ever around the Philly area, I owe you a beer.

****Anyways, time to talk about the clubs. I ordered Maltby TS1-IM's that came in yesterday. 3i-PW plus a TSW 56 degree. 2 degrees of offset and standard length. Score shafts and lamkin grips. All the standard stuff.

The TSW 56 degree is the single greatest club I've ever used. With all my issues, I could not fail to get it high in the air and straight. I was able to control the club distance amazingly well. If you are thinking about a new wedge, I cannot recommend this highly enough.

I was told buying blades was a mistake. I knew these were forgiving and I want to "grow" into a set, so I opted for the TS1-IM over the TS3. Also, the look of the TS1-IM just can't be beat. When I went to the range, I was very happy. I was getting balls in the air no problem. The sound off the club is terrific. The clubs feel so much better than my previous taylormades. I definitely mishit some balls and topped some -- I'm a new and bad golfer, but much less frequently than the taylormades I practiced on for years. I had my 9 iron going ~130 yards and straight. Higher lofted clubs have always been kinder to me. The long irons were a struggle to hit well, but any long irons are for me. Still, I was able to squeak out a few respectable shots with the 4i. My favorite club in my other set was the 8i. I wasn't able to get this 8i going as well as my previous...yet.

The grips are just OK. I dont like to use a glove and I didnt have a ton of issues, but they aren't very grippy or aren't soft. They are no doubt serviceable. I have little to no experience or knowledge with shafts. My swing speed is almost certainly sub 75 mph, but I was launching balls high and with respectable distance. I can't put my finger on it, but these shafts feel 10x better than the steel ones golf galaxy put into my taylormades.

I hit ~230 balls at the range and was much more improved on the 2nd half than the first half. Mishits now tell me where I mishit, as opposed to the general "thunk" my previous clubs gave me in terms of feedback. These clubs were hit much better with a slow smooth swing (probably not a surprise to you all) than anything else. Hitting the sweet spot felt amazing. As I went through balls, I was improving. I feel better at address that I did previously at well. No longer wrestling to get the club face just right with the offset or anxiously twisting my wrists.

My range partner is a 7 handicap with custom fit Miuras. He really liked the clubs and crushed the 3I over 200 yards and straight. He seemed very surprised by how nice the clubs were.

I undoubtedly need more range time with these clubs and practice, but these are quality irons that I will grow into. I had some of the best shots i've ever had at the range, but need to get my consistency and overall golf skill up. These clubs were working with me, where as my other clubs I had to fight against. The best feature has been just the way they feel. Light and heavy all at the same time. I'm sure the TS3's are amazing and more appropriate for where I am at, but even by a terrible golfer like me, these irons can be hit very well with ease. These are quality clubs, far exceeding my Taylormades that cost more used than these irons do new.

I would appreciate any recommendations on drivers/woods/hybrids. I currently am using a Ping G10. I just learned how to drive and can pop them about 175-200 out. I have a used Nike Sasquatch lucky 13 coming in and an old taylor made Vsteel 5W. All of a sudden I'm really fascinated by clubs and really into finding value in older clubs. For a player like me, I dont need the best and newest, but a little forgiveness and help never hurts. I was eyeing up some higher lofted hybrids. Ke4 max hybrids seem interesting, same as the pxg 0211, cobra baffler. Any recommendations appreciated, especially any Maltby clubs. I'm a fan for life now. Sorry for the lengthy dissertation.

Welcome aboard. I'm actually down by Philly quite often. Daughter's live down by Doylestown and Lafayette Hills.

I highly encourage you to build a few of your next clubs yourself. You will be surprised at how well you can dial in a club with a minimum of investment. YouTube videos help greatly.

At the range you will see where in your iron set your performance drops off. As in not being able to get enough height, spin and distance improvement vs the previous iron. As a beginning golfer that might be after the 6 or 5 iron. That's when you reach for the hybrids. Matching a hybrid to the iron loft where the performance drops off will give you back the height spin and distance. Of course you could stay with Maltby but cheap high quality older hybrids are easy to find. The Cobra Bafflers are an awesome club.

Build the top of your bag slowly. With your skill level you will be hitting Fairways woods just as far as a driver, but with better consistency. Which is fine. It's more fun to hit quality shots and play within your means. So as your skills grow add those harder to hit 3 woods or driver.

I get on Radner Valley quite often and also play Lederach a lot too.

It’s hard to beat the ke4 max driver head. I’ve been using it for most of this year and I’m very happy with it. Ke4 tc tour fairways are still in the bag. They are the perfect blend of face height and sole design. They can be hit off the deck easily. I’m not a big hybrid fan so I’ll let others comment on that.

So I will be out near the Golfworks and plan on going there.  Any shopping tips, other then bringing lots of money. Looking at TS-3 6-G and then, then 52 and 56 max milled wedge.  Might look to add an adjustable driver as well.

Currently playing PTMs with score shafts, maybe looking at the graphite equivalent to them, so if anyone has any suggestions.

If you haven't tried them, I'd suggest at least demoing the TSW wedges.

That's about the exact same setup I will have (6-G TS3 with graphite) except minus the 56 max wedge, for now. I was thinking of going TSW but the heads I bought used came with a 52 max wedge. I also ordered a TSH 5. I have a 22 degree Maxfli hybrid that I like so I will try the ST line to fill in the gap. Plus I have a 3 and 5 wood from the 890 line.

Only other suggestion I have is find something fun to do with the money you will save going with Golfworks instead of the big name brands 😁.

BTW to everyone else reading this, I am trying a new grip, going with the Royal LinkTech cords since so many others have gave them props. Since they were on sale I figured I wasn't loosing much by trying them!
