I recall some in the past doing this intentionally.  Their reasoning at the time was at address you're looking down on it from an angle.  So to make it appear centered, it needed to be slightly inside of center

Thats it. I looked at my old lady hybrid and the mark is located a bit inside but appears centered at address.

GW and Golfsmith were in competition and both had a .350 line in the ct250 and HiCor....and I do believe the hicor hybrid was .350.  I still have one and would have to measure/double check.  I suspect this was just some sort of response to the OEM .350 models that were being made.  Both were very popular and successful lines.  I believe there was a Snake Eyes model or two that were .350.

I think they may have even been .335.  That's what I remember about the Snake Eyes Quick Strike.

Suppose someone could check with the Wayback Machine...

Quick Strike def .335 the II was a great model.  Back in the day when it was still common enough to use a steel wood shaft and it worked well with the .335 or .350 hybrids. I will bust out the old catalogs and take a peak for the .350 SE model.

Britt is misunderstanding the issue. He thinks folks are asking about horizontal CG  based on it impacting wedge playability for hitting chips, pitches, and sand shots not full shots. It's as if he doesn't consider the full shot playability as important for a "wedge", implying a sand wedge or lob wedge, because the Maltby set gap wedges have short hosels and face centered CGs. Is hitting full SWs or LWs that unusual?

TBH.  I never take a full shot with any of my wedges higher than my set's Gap Wedge (48*)  I go from G to 54 & 58 Max Milled.  The longest shot I take with my 54 is about 60-65 yds.

From distant memory, I thought I recalled that the CT250 "hybrids" were more like utility woods, with head weights that accommodated lengths more like 7 and 9 woods?

Yeah sort of but only about 1/4" - 1/2" longer than regular hybrids today and shorter than say a Callaway Apex UW.  Either way, you could ream them out to .370 which a lot of people did.

Also remember the "Fairway" specific shafts, that were designed for the heavier head weights of fairway woods, which worked well with that "utility" type of head design and weight

I have the TE+ irons and after a few rounds I’m pretty surprised how forgiving they are for looking like a blade. However Im still drawn to the maxfli xc2 irons and having a really hard time talking myself out of them

What can the maxflis  do that the Maltby cannot do? To me the Maltby look like a much nicer iron.

Never hit them but they do look a bit more forgiving on misses and the stronger lofts may help. I’m not fully sold and that’s more so because I’m concerned about resale value if they don’t work out

There's nothing about the design and shape of the TSW wedges that would suggest that they have a centered COG (sweet-spot).  Long hosel and no manipulation of mass on the back of the head to move the COG out into center.

Look at the Max Milled wedge design to see something that definitely has the COG further out into the face.  Shorter hosel, mass removed from the back of the heel, and weight ports towards the toe.  In my opinion it would be enhanced further, if the hosel was shortened more to about that of their TS iron line

I don't know what it is but I just prefer the look and feel of the tsw.

I have relieved the front of the sole which will hopefully stop it digging.

I think that's the end of the drt experiment...

The Maxfli will be deeply discounted at the end of the golf season.

At least by Christmas.

Dicks is not my favorite company but Maxfli balls are such a deal and like you I’m pretty sure those irons will be as well.

So with the Xcaliber Rapid Tapers all but dead... I need to find a new go to shaft. My personal supply of Rapid Tapers will only last so long.

I've hit a few MMT shaftd and have been intrigued.  The 105 felt like a ton, so I leaned to the 90g range. Also grabbed an 80g. Both in the Stiff flex.

I used the TS4 heads as I wanted a relatively difficult head to hit, letting the shafts shine through and not a Ultra Game improvement head.

I built a DBM TS4 with the 90g shaft and a Chrome TS4 with the 80g shaft.  With out any range swings i took them straight to the course. Im leaning to the 90g as that more of my go to weight range, so that saw the most work.

The first shot was an uphill 145 playing near 160. Hit it pin high and it made it look easy. Dropped another ball and near identical shot. 3' apart from the first. I did this all over the course, anywhere a 7 iron would work. Distance control was intuitive. I was very surprised at how straight they flew. Point and shoot type of performance.  It wasn't till the last hole that I brought out the 80g. What i quickly found out that the 80g had more kick to it. It flew nearly identically to the 90g... but it spun harder. The 90 gram would release 3 or 4 feet. The 80g routinely stopped in half the distance.  Yet overall distance was almost identical.  They do feel looser but nothing that was too crazy. The flight of the 90g was much tighter. I went back in the fairway on the 18th hole and hit a ton of shots with either club. The 80g with the chrome head obviously felt better. That marshmallow ball feel. The DBM head felt firmer but not harsh.  It looks awesome with the graphics of the MMT shaft being black with a Silver Grey lettering. Which is very subtle.

I was so impressed that oncourse, I wound up selling my PTM Black setup that someone fell in love with. So I need to do some quick ordering. My first experience with the TS4 heads was with the Rapid Tapers. That left me Luke warm. The MMT shafts seem like they were made for that head.

I've been wanting to build a new set as the KE4 Max is a boring but useful set. The PTMs have some age on them and I need a new toy.

Problem is which setup to go with. The looks of the 90g and the DBM TS4 was sexy as hell. But the chrome has such amazing feel. Do I go with the 80g and the higher spin rate? Or go with the former feel and tighter flight? Decisions!!

Don't judge the ferruls I didn't turn either one.

You probably prefer a more "traditional" rounded sand wedge shape, as I do.  The DRT's look more like an iron profile

I was really surprised how good the TS4/90 combo was. What clubs are you carrying, 5-GW?

I have the MMT 105 S in my 2021 P790 and I don’t think I’ll have another shaft. Absolutely love them.

I have been hitting the 90g and 70g Maxfli XC2 in store and love them.  They don’t offer the 105 which has been my hold up from pulling the trigger.  That said, the numbers I’ve gotten from the 70g are so good I’ve almost considered them.   I have just never played that light of a shaft and it kind of scares me.
