Somehow came upon this thread through some others….

pretty ironic… I have a set of MMB black that were built with limited black modus 115x shafts. Too them out today for the first time in a few months.

I cannot believe how easy these blades are to play… hit the 4 iron on a dog leg…. It went too far… ended up in the woods off the end of the fairway.

these are some “tech” packed blades.

everyone gives the wilson staff blades tons of love for how easy they are to play… and I have those blades as well, love them, but man …the MMB irons are super stable across the face, get high in the air and go far… and they feel really great.  Nice and soft off the face. If these had a mainstream OEM label… they would still be a top iron today.

these won’t be my gamers, some of the tech in the new ping irons is wildly consistent….. but these are staying around

one thing I will tell you about the Pings, I'm pretty upset with their manufacturing "process"  I have a set of i210's that were 1/2" over standard, and I wanted to reshaft them with MMT graphite at 1' over. After taking them apart, there were 3 clubs where, instead of putting in longer shafts, they simply heated them up and lifted the shaft 1/2" out of the hosel, and one even more, so that there was barely any depth to the shaft going into the hosel. Did it make a difference? Who knows, but the fact that they would do that instead of just putting in new longer shafts rubs me the wrong way. I'm going back to making my own clubs again after that.

Sometimes all of these OEM's can be sneaky with their practices.  I guess you never know who is on the other end putting things together, and if they are not "watched" anything can happen, and usually does.  Very unfortunate for an industry that is relatively expensive.

Wondering if I should pull the trigger on the TS3s or wait for the TS4s (think I saw late May or June availability).

Anyone have thoughts on how much the TS4s will play from a forgiveness perspective, perhaps based on prior MB experience from Maltby. Seems like they will be packing quite a bit of tech into the TS4s, which might help in that department. I’m a 5hc, and pretty decent ball striker. I like the looks of the TS4s, but if there is a big advantage in forgiveness in the TS3s I would just go that direction.

In the sneak preview we got of the TS4 page, it shows the MOI is very nearly the same as the TS3.  This would mean the forgiveness should be level between the two.

The difference will be the CG location.  The CG is lower on the TS3.  If that suits your game, and your primary vertical miss, the TS3 would be better.  But, if you miss higher on the face, the TS4 may be a better fit.

Such is my take.  <shrug>

Adding the usual generalization about low CGs being better for sweepers, and higher CGs better for those who hit down on the ball.  Though, the TS4 CG is really mid, or low to mid, not high; it's just higher than the TS3.

That is bad.  They effectively soft-stepped your irons without you knowing

There won't be a big difference.  The TS3 will be a hair more friendly for low face impacts and those towards the toe.  The TS4's will be easier to hit than many other CB's

yeah, they feel way better now that I had the MMT put in them, so disappointed that a big OEM would pull crap like this though.

Spent some more time with the KE4 TCMax. A bit underwhelmed.

Felt great but really couldn't get it going. Actually wasn't really sure where on the face I was hitting it. Feeling never really changed. Good shot or bad.  I want to throw a few shafts at it and see if there is a better combo.

The big standout has been the Stealth 2 so far. Both the driver and the 3 wood are monsters.

I haven't hit a good feeling Maltby driver since the original CT250.

Here's one from earlier in the thread. TS3 is the top one in the pic.

Thanks for the quick response!  You all are the best.

If anyone has any other topline pictures of the TS-3, I’d appreciate it. The one that was posted seems like it’s angled back a bit, which may not be the best representation.

There are quite a few if you back through this topic. Just go backwards through the pages. 👍🏼

I haven't played an adjustable driver in a few years and just picked up the KE4 TC. I've read the chart, but what the chart does't indicate is that if you want to go N-, is that the Left or Right minus next to the N? Common sense says it should be the left minus (minus meaning backwards in relation to where you are), but reading the chart, N- is the second option, so that could be the right minus.

My understanding is that the dash is between neutral and high or between neutral and low.  So if you turn it towards the L then you are going lower and if you turn it towards the H you are going higher.

I like the Maltby system as you can change shaft orientation while keeping the loft setting the same.

It will be interesting to see what adjustability will be achievable in the Pro Fairway woods when they are finally revealed.. patiently waiting.

This is my problem with a lot of loft sleeves. Many shafts are different in a 90° orientation so the shaft changes a lot when you rotate it. Golf Works even tests frequency oscillation in both orientations and marks it on the shafts.

Interesting. I wasn't aware that the adjustments can be made without altering how the shaft is indexed. Very cool!

I did briefly Wednesday night. Surprised how good it felt. Only had time for two swings.

Popeye64,  I played the TS2's for a year and a half, before switching into i525's.  I hate the i525's!  I have been waiting for the TS3 to arrive, but in reading your comments, you seem to get great results from the Max iron.  If you compared the TS2, TS3 and max side by side, which do you feel give the best distance, distance control, and dispersion?

It's probably a result of the really high AVCOG of the i525 at .911", which makes any iron harder to hit consistently for most players.  The TS2 at .796"..... and the TS3 goes lower to .691"

I have an iron one in my driving iron, cut to stiff. I'm hitting 105-108 clubhead with my driving iron and it feels really solid in the swing and at impact. I don't think that it needs to be tipped more for that swing speed but you should be playing the most flexible shaft that still returns the club to square at impact. It's honestly my favourite shaft in my bag, love the way it feels loading and releasing. I like to call it a poor man's Tensei Blue and it even has the same MPF rating as the Tensei Blue, I have a Tensei Blue in my Callaway 3w and have great success with it. I'm considering putting one of the UL into my driver to test an ultra light shaft and I'll probably get the TS4 irons with them when those come out. The shafts are as good as the heads.

I was actually looking at the iron shaft for a 2 udi as well. Weight might be a little low for me though.. I play 60, 75, 75 gram shafts in Driver, 3, 7 woods and AMT x100 in 4-pw.

Do the Maltby Pro Series shafts feel counter balanced at all? And what kind of ball flight are you seeing with this shaft in your driving iron?

The only counter balanced shaft I've ever used was a Hazards Yellow and if feels nothing like that, but TT shafts like to be swung aggressively. When I say it feels like a Tensei Blue I don't think I could tell you the difference if I was blindfolded. See the attached photos for the numbers. This is with a Haywood 18° driving iron and a Titleist AVX RCT ball on a Trackman.
