I’m also a believer in an iron that is a solid one piece construction versus a composite foam filled iron. My stats over the last 6 months show that the distance is more consistent and my scores are more consistent.

The TS4’s are technically not a solid once piece construction in the 3-8. Like the TS3’s they are multi-material with tungsten in the toe. That said, I’ve got a full set of TS3’s and they feel amazing. Much softer and better feeling than the OG TS-1’s.

From GW’s site:

The TS4 head design is a forged 1025C carbon steel and is co-forged with internal tungsten weight positioned low and towards the toe in the #3 thru the #8 iron to optimize the center of gravity location.

You are correct.  The TS4’s don’t have a maraging steel face like the TS1-IM’s do.I also mentioned foam filled, which the 4’s are not.

It’s essentially 1 piece with a tungsten insert in the toe.

You guys are doing a really bad job of talking me out of picking up an TS4 8i head. I'm really curious on top line. I love a really small top line but I know it usually the least forgiving. The TE top line it wonderful but the weak lofts and design put me off, so I went with TS1. I will be curious to see about TE+ but I think its visually very similar. Does anyone have a TS4 and TE to compare topline?

The topline of the TS4 is pretty much the same as the TS1. The rest of the top of the head is thinner, but the topline is the same.

I was able to put some heads together and hit the TS4 7i and TS3 6i, 5i. Shafted them with TT Score stiff, soft stepped once. I've hit everything out there, and these feel up there with the best forged heads. You can feel the mishits but they all go straight. Its laughable. Head feels really soft and really straight. The irons these are replacing are TM 770s and I previously bagged Maltby Logic Tradition M-05. I missed my maltbys and i'm happy to get them back in the bag. Set is 4i-6i TS3, and 7i-Pw TS4. Rest of the set is being glued. Left is TS4 7i and right is TS3 6i. The top line looks a lot thicker on camera. My eye catches the bright leading edge mostly.

What shafts were you playing in the 770s?  I'm curious how the Score TT compares to some of the other standard shafts in the major OEM lines.

If I had to say what shaft comes closest overall to the TT Score... Nippon 950 GH. The TT Score are a heavier shaft. Feel and flight are very similar though. The Score shafts don't feel like a 115g shaft.

I've long played DG s300. The TT Score doesn't feel or perform significantly different for me. Outside of feeling lighter. Scratch player. But not super sensitive or OCD about chasing boutique specs.

Crazy as it sounds (to me) I think the TS3's I put together have taken over my bag from the Mizuno's I've been playing (very well) for the past year plus.  Sure there is more offset and thicker top line than I'd prefer BUT the TS3's feel so freaking good and amazingly there is zero distance loss over the hollow 225's.  I just don't understand how these heads perform as well as they do.  Truly a great club head.

Doesn’t sound crazy to me! I have been loving my TS3s. Definitely an upgrade over the New Level 902s I had in the bag. Very comparable feel with a little stronger distance and much more forgiving package. Also loving the looks. Very simple clean design. Have had several people commenting on the looks.

Do the TS3's not actually have less offset than the MP 225's? That's what it looks like based off specs (in the 4-8 irons at least). Maybe the design make it appear like more offset? I'm in the same boat, they've kicked my ZX7's out of the bag (Srixon's have been in my bag since the Z745 was first released).

Specs may say one thing but in hand that is not the case.  TS3's have way more visual offset than the 225's.  Granted I've bent each iron a degree stronger which adds even more offset but I've done that in both iron sets and all the lofts match.  So loft for loft and iron for iron the TS3's have visually more offset and it's not even close. I still love them though!

Gotcha. Yeah, I know sometimes how the hosel is designed and shaped can make the offset appear differently. No matter what the numbers say. I prefer the look of my ZX7's as well, but these seem to perform equally and actually feel better than the ZX7's in my opinion. Definitely a winner.

I just ordered a TS4 9 iron to build and test out. I'm going to call it my 9 & 1/2 iron in my TS3 set. I've always struggled with gaps in the 8 and 9 iron area due to the fact that I add a touch too much dynamic loft in the higher lofted irons. I've always had a bigger gap than I'd like between my 8 and 9 iron, my 9 - Wedges just don't go the same distance relative to my other irons. I'm playing my current TS3 9 iron at 39* and now have a nice 12-13 yard gap between it and my 8 iron. It's now however moved the wide gap to my 9 and PW (9=145 carry/ PW=125 carry). So I'm going to weaken the TS4 9I by 1* and it should carry around 135. I will likely weaken my PW by 1* as well in order to get it closer to a 120 carry. I play 95% of my rounds at my home country club and find myself rarely utilizing my 3 hybrid. So a 9.5 iron will be a good situational club that can come in and out of the bag depending on tees being played. I'm going to face a lot more 135 yard shots than I will 210 yard shots based off where I'm normally hitting it on my course. I've tried to start thinking more outside the box on my set makeup and how it effects my gapping. I'm excited to see how this little experiment turns out.

Im debating between the TS3 and TS4s... everyone seems to be raving about the TS3 but I'm not seeing much about the 4. The MPF and CG / MOI are minimally different. I definitely prefer the TS4 looks wise, but TS3 are beautiful as well.

Also, I was fitted into Nippon NS Pro Modus 3 Tour 105 shafts and the Ping AWT 2.0 (Regular), and I'm wondering how different the TT Score shafts would be if I went with the Pak for some $$$ savings.

Anyone have any thoughts to help me with this predicament?

Glued them up today.  TS-2 five and six irons with Maltby Pro Series 85g stiff shafts soft stepped 2x.  I weighed them prior to epoxying but after cutting with a split grip I use just for this purpose and came up with a D0 swing weight on both.  Tip weight was added to both until D2ish was achieved.  These are test irons and I had to start somewhere.

I'm counting on the epoxy to set by tomorrow morning so I can take them out.  If they work I'm going all in and selling the Apex or pulling the Catalyst 80 from them and selling the heads.  One minor complaint already is that the MPF Pro graphite shafts have a logo on two sides.  I'm one of those people who dislikes looking down on a logo at address.

Put the DBM Forged back in the bag today for a round.  I definitely prefer them vs the TS3.  Wish I had only ordered one TS3 iron to try first.  Oh well.  The KE4 TC 4 wood with Kuro Kage 65s is awesome.  Had some mixed feelings about the KE4 TC 4 hybrid with 950GH.

Due to a shipping issue I never recieved my TS4 heads. My experience with the TS3 heads was soured by a shaft issue. Made my set far too stiff!!!! Next week I'll be back and do a three way playoff on the TS3 TS4 and the TS1M. The TS4 head is the raciest of the bunch. So for many it won't be thier first choice. But from some early accounts they may be as easy to play as the TS3.

As for the Score LT. Go ahead and build your set with those and save some money. As long as you get your flex right it will be a great shaft. Easily the best iron shaft for money spent, by a mile.

Nice, thanks for the input. I may have to bite the bullet and just go for the TS4s, I'm currently playing some Mizuno MP-33s anyway so I'm used to an MB iron (I'm sure the TS4s are 1000 times more forgiving than these anyway)

Curious to hear anyone else's thoughts on TS4 vs TS3 forgiveness / playability / feel wise.

Another example showing that newer isn't always better for all players...and to not forget about options that have been around for a while.  It's the actual design details that matter

If you're used to playing the MP-33, the TS4 should be easier to hit overall and more forgiving.  Simply because the blade length is longer with a COG that is further out on the face, providing a wider area for relatively solid contact....and more forgiving toe side of center.

The sole should also be more turf friendly for most players

Have a set on my wall take them out every so often to have good practice and I love the aesthetics of them they are just well butter knifes. I think the TS4 or TE will be your closest bet and yes 1000× more forgiving.

Nippon 105 Stiff. Clubs are good. I just don't hit them well. The heads like to be played steep and I'm quite shallow. I played Score TT shafts on the Logic Tradition heads last season and they play great. I'd say similar flight to a DG 105, or a touch higher than a KBS Tour, but not as high as Elevates or anything in the high launch category.

Feel wise, probably close to a Mizuno JPX 923 Tour, very soft.
