For those that have hit both, would you say the ts3 or ts1 im is more workable?

I have TS3’s and I flirted with a TS1-IM for a brief moment. Both of these have very low center of gravity and extreme weighting low and towards the toe. They are made to hit the ball straight and they accomplish that goal. That being said, the TS1-IM has slightly less offset and the COG is a hair higher resulting in just a touch less backspin, so in theory it should be easier to get more side spin, thus easier to hit a draw or fade.

I believe consensus is it is good to great.  IMO-- Great.   I start my set at #5 iron(and that is under review!).   I picked up a 23 degree PRO-IST as soon as they came out.  I paired it with the MPF shaft.

Is it better than the Older KE-4 TC-- YES-  I had played a 19-22 degree in the original for YEARS.   It is still a very good club.  Both my kids played one all thru HS golf-- my daughter plays to an 8 and she still loves hers.   THe IST-- Easier to hit solid IMO.  More forgiving without sacrificing any playability

YES- it lauches higher FOR ME!

Is it easy to hit from deep rough--   this is EXACTLY where this club truly shines.  It is unbelievable from really tough deep rough.   I have sold three of these just with people watching me get out of rough with great shots..   I really don't hit any iron out of rough other than #8, #9 and PW/SW.  All other rough shots-- the hybrid comes out.  I choke down and cut it for it to go 165-175.  Square it up for 180-195.    It has saved me so many strokes.  It truly needs to be something you try -- I will be shocked if you don't love it for this only!

Forgiving- Yes-- I am looking to hit it more and more.  I am trying to see if my #5 iron really needs to be in play as I don't hit it consistenly well anymore.

I reviewed the Pro IST on the Maltby website some time ago.   Best of luck with your bag configuration!

built up a Pro IST TC 4H (23deg) this week. kept it simple swapping in my 4i shaft (Nippon 950 Stiff) and finally had a chance to hit it and play yesterday.

Mustang is spot on. from the fairway or first cut i'm hitting an effortless 200-210. but where it really shines is the rough. open it up just a touch and it cuts right through. i usually struggle mightily with the club face turning over in the rough (especially with the long irons)--but not yesterday. i might need a couple more sessions to have a better idea on yardage from various lies, but i think this one is a keeper. 5 iron better be on it's best behavior moving forward--it may find itself relegated to the basement closet and a new 5H on the way!

The TS1-IM (0.831) has a fairly higher COG than the TS3 (0.747) . I found that the TS3 helps get the ball in the air a little easier which is the opposite of what I need. I found the TS1-IM able to work the ball better and had a lower ball flight for me.

hmmm--  I have both.  I alternate them.   I just finished about 12-14 straight rounds with the TS-3.   Six of those in Scotland.  I was playing well.   78 on the Old Course,  80 on Carnoustie.   First time there-- maybe the last. What an experience.

Being the freak I am,  I put the TS-1Im in tthe bag in this past week.   five rounds so far.  All pretty solid.

I really don't know that one is more workable than the other.  Both are IMO.   I am still on the fence in regard to distance and ball flight.  I do have them in different shafts.  TS-3 in AXE RT,  TS-1IM- "flighted" Aldila NV.

I feel I can hit any shot I am capable of with both.  Emphasis on "what I am capable of"..   I am a 5 handicap.

If I had to play a round for $$.  I would most likely take the TS-3 by a very slight margin.   Ask me next week after a few more good rounds with the TS-1IM and I may say the opposite!  LOL

You really can't go wrong either way IMO

I think Actual VCOG is what you want to look at. The TS1-IM should still flight lower than the TS3 as you indicate though.

I can’t get on with the top line of the TS-2.  I’m slowly saving to shift heads to the TS-1 with a thinner top line. Has anyone got feedback on the feel differences between the two. Probably @Popeye64.

thanks Lads,m

Bill

The TS2 definitely has a softer feel. The cavity is quite big on those. The have a great marshmallow feel. The TS1 is crisper. Not quite a soft as the TS2. Topline difference is the biggest change.

I have a TS1 6-GW set with new shafts and grips. Heads are like new im going to list soon. Cheap.

Tell me more about the KE4 ist fairway woods with the Pro Series + shafts?

I need/want a cheap FW option. This seems to fit the bill.

I unfortunately can’t speak directly to the IST but I’ll share my Maltby fairway experience. I used to struggle with 3 woods off the deck but could play a 5 wood or higher pretty well. So a few years ago I built a KE4 Tour TC 4 wood and I absolutely loved it. Still do, however I haven’t played it in almost two years as I built a Pro adjustable 3 wood and it’s exactly what I hoped it would be. The same forgiveness and sweet feel but longer.

The Pro and the IST are essentially the same sans the hosel right? If you don’t need or want the adjustability, go for it.

Lastly, there’s a good review online anyone interested should watch. Might have been the Mobile club fitting guy?

Thanks.  I think you mean the elite fit Golf guy out of Atlanta.  He did one on a three Wood KE4 ist.

I think the pro and IST are the same except for the adjustability. I’m definitely all for the adjustability because I’m not sure distance without buying it first.  Just kind of hoping so at least that gives me some options to try it and make it fit.

Seems a bit bigger and that sole is pretty damn wide looking compared to most CB's right now, but hard to tell without a side by side I guess. Not the biggest gearchead here by anymeans so I could be wrong but that looks a lot closer to the design philosophy of the TS3 to me, even compared to ZX7's. One piece forging that's aimed at being "forgiving" without chasing speed or being hot off the face.

Maybe I'm wrong though 🤷‍♂️

Anyone bagging the 9 wood? Thinking of picking one up.

I bought one a few months ago..it is suppose to be square but to me looks closed. I tried multiple setting to try to get the look and feel I wanted but it’s just sitting in the basement right now…lost patience trying to get it to work for me.

It's a visual quirk.  Generally speaking, a clubhead appears square when it's slightly open, and a clubhead that's actually square appears closed.

Here is a pic of my Cobra LTDx Max 7 wood and the TC Pro IST 6 hybrid.   Not sure if that helps or not.
