New Tour AD VR

I posted on the shaft under equipment already.Have had it for 3 weeks in a g400.I replaced an IZ which replaced a DI.It is less tip strong than the IZ and I FOUND AFTER MUCH ON COURSE TESTING IT IS ABOUT 8-10 YARDS LONGER WITH A SLIGHTLY HIGHER BALL FLIGHT.The VR also feels little softer - possibly because of the new taper design. The best of the three I used

I had DI, loved everything about it, but has some issues with dispersion. Tried IZ and it felt like a tighter DI and solved the dispersion issues. What about VR compared to IZ and dispersion? A softer tip (and the 10 yards extra) should affect the dispersion in a bad way. Or?

As of working part time at the Japanese golf shop, I get to try both IZ and VR and here are my thoughts.

Compared to IZ, VR feels heavier and stiffer, but because the tip is softer, it is a bit more of like a anti-slice.

Also, since the butt part of the shaft is so stiff, I feel and my Japanese friends claim that it is one of the stiffest feeling shaft in the current Tour A.D. lines.(stiffer than the GP IMO)

For the dispersion, it depends; if it is caused from the clubs being too light, VR could be a better choice, but if you like the weight of IZ and for the anti-left characteristics of it, I would recommend you to use IZ.

I went from an IZ 4 R1 tipped3/4" to a heavier VR 5 R1 WITH NO TIPPING and found the dispersion very good; equally or maybe a little tighter than the IZ which was good..I TESTED by hitting 4 rounds of 3 shots each shaft on a fairway. behind my house. The VR constantly was 8 -10 longer than the IZ but the dispersion was good as well. From the tee it looked as if I hit some to a clump and then another clump about 10 yards longer.I played the DI FOR 2 YEARS,IZ for over a year and now I HAVE ABOUT 10 games with the VR.I will keep it.

  • 3 months later...

Been gaming this shaft for a few months now in my Rogue Sub Zero. Super stable feel. I swing driver 115 on GC Quad and the 6X is a perfect feel for me. I think it feels a fraction heavy for a 60 gram shaft probably has to do with the balance point or something but I'd say it's a mid spin / mid launch shaft but stable. Usually these shafts feel whippy to me but not this one. Love it. Thanks GD !!

Based on that chart and my loving my 3 wood. Any other options out there for my driver with BB characteristics? Stiff tip and middle and soft butt?

Just got one of these and I'm very impressed after 27 holes of testing. I'm in the 6X and was playing a PX Evenflow T1100 6.0 which plays just under X flex relative to other PX shafts. The VR has a noticeably higher launch but feels very stable and is the most anti-left shaft I've ever tested. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't get it to flip over, just a slight block left due to path. My miss is the big left flip-hook which the EF had in it once every 10.drives or so.

It has a totally different feel to the EF but now I'm used to it I'm very impressed.

I have been playing the AD VR 6s at 100 mph SS and loving it. Does not have the big kick like the AD DI and feels much more controllable than the AD DI.

I came from the IZ too and I really liked that shaft. The VR and IZ are pretty close in my opinion. I could easily play either shaft and be happy.

I really want to try one of these in a 3 wood. By the sounds of it being a little more stout than the DI and slightly lower launching than the IZ, I think I would love it.
