Coming to play Bethpage Black on 8/7 - any locals want to join a twosome and recommendation for anot

Fellow GolfWRXs -

 

Me and a buddy are coming to play Black on Tuesday 8/7 and would like to join another local twosome that would be able to make a tee time a couple days earlier than we can. I have played it before but my buddy hasn't. I am confident that we can get a tee time since this is a Tuesday, but we are always looking to meet fellow golfers.

 

Also, looking to play somewhere else on Monday. I've played Red last year and enjoyed it, but I'm looking for recommendations of another course we should try to play? We have a car and are willing to travel a reasonable distance.

My recommendations for the second course (excluding Bethpage Red as an option). Take a look at these courses and maybe based on location, it could help you choose. All these recommendations are based on conditions, layout and not price point. There are a lot of courses that are good that I don't mention below but I'm factoring in the fact that you are making the trip from Virginia and trying to pick some options that are on the "higher end."

Hard to argue with that list, I will say depending on where you are staying getting to either Ferry Point or Pound Ridge could be a nightmare on a weekday.

I guess the first question would be where are you staying? I doubt that you would want to travel far since you're not familiar with the area.

Willow creek is a great course, also crab meadow can be nice and a cheaper alternative, it's right up on the long Island sound

Great choice. Ballyowen is always in the top 3 public tracks in New Jersey. It's a links style course and if you are up for 36 holes in a day, Wild Turkey is its sister course which is vastly different since its a parkland style (Top 10 public track in NJ).
