Tim Duncan.

LOL.

Koepka is good but he is far from an all-time great. Tim Duncan is one of the best basketball players of all time. Koepka probably isn't even top 30 all time golfer.

You don't find BK dull? Just cause someone is more dull like Stanley or Cantlay, doesn't mean BK isn't also dull.

The great thing about Brooks is he plays as though he doesn't care what the result is going to be on any given shot or hole. The bad thing about Brooks is he plays as though he doesn't care what the result is going to be on any given shot or hole. So in that sense, he comes off as "too cool for school" which can seem boring, or he comes off as though he's just going to try to destroy the course, which is great.

You ever see Dufner after an amazing hole out? NO emotion, NONE. Same as after a bad shot no emotion.

The only boring tag you could lay on Sampras style wise is if he was up against another big server like say, Ivanisovic, on the grass courts of Wimbledon you didn't get a lot of long rallies.

Boring? That's what made the era so awesome. Tennis at highest level should never be more than a few shots per rally.

I despise the way the game has evolved, with the Wimbledon baseline worn out and the net area still manicured after two weeks.

Wimps. And likewise with basketball and the outside shot somehow in vogue. We used to laugh at the guys who resorted to that.

Sampras was a personal favorite because I was in my wagering heyday during those years. One time, probably late '90s, Agassi was supposedly playing well and Sampras not at peak. Those are my all-time favorite scenarios, when the geniuses start saying, "He's playing great!" and totally ignore the fundamentals of the matchup. It turned into a pick-em final at Wimbledon.

What a joke. Straight sets.

Current form will be hilarious forever

Hey I'm not arguing. I agree! I loved Pete's serve and volley style at Wimbledon. I'm just saying that contrasting styles make for good matchups. Sampras vs Agassi were almost always great matches. Sampras vs Ivanisovic was just a serving slugfest.

Brooks got a lot of muscles, looks like what I think you Americanos call a "Jock" and has that aura around him. But you could see in the winners interview that he was deeply moved by his victory. He does not wear his emotions on the surface. What he probably should do to get some followers is to publish some funny videos on the side, do a Dufner or something.

I like him, a traveling man that went over to Europe and competed over here and has made his way into the top. It doesnt look like he got a Rory or Spieth vanilla entry to the world top but had to fight a little, that is maybe also what has made him tough mentally and externally. There is room for Brooks, Dufners and DJ's together with the squirrels, the Tigers, Rorys, Spieths, JT's, Rahms and Willetts. Brooks has his style and I like that.

(Btw Borg, big time hero in old Scandinavia was not considered a dull guy in our cold country. He was numero uno together with the best ever alpine skier Ingemar Stenmark - and Björn was extremely talkative compared to Ingemar. We're not a chatty lot)

Brooks has haters already. That's a good sign, he must be doing something right.

But for those of you that need something other than stellar golf to entertain you here's what Brooks will wear in his next tournament, it's called the Rickie suit and is designed to attract fickle fans.

BK single handedly sucked the life outta every major he won.

dominance will do that...finishing up on 18 before Scott was the epitome of IDGAF...i loved it. Dude is a legend

In another thread, someone said he would end up third on the all-time Majors list. Now, I'm assuming that's third behind Jack and Tiger, because Walter Hagen's Western Opens don't count, but even so I think after watching how he won his first three, it's possible. He is really good under pressure. He can bomb the ball and, as you said, DGAF. He seems to play to win, and if he loses, he loses and moves on to the next tournament.

He's also got good iron play, and good putting. I know he missed some makeables in the final round, but he didn't seem to let it get to him, and made one on 16 or 17 (sorry, forget which).

His record is interesting: one regular PGAtour win compared to three majors. Suggests to me he likes the big stage, or rather thrives on it better than most.

I don't know anything about biomechanics to know if his body will hold up, but I think he's got the golf game and mental game to win a lot, barring injury.

In other words, that prediction of third on the all-time Majors list doesn't seem too far-fetched right now.

If you think Koepka is devoid of a personality or is a bit dull, what do people think of DJ?? Just can’t get behind that guy with close to ZERO personality or emotion. I get it, he’s got a job to do on the golf course but if someone told me I had to lose my personality to play better golf, I would take a pass.

Hey man.. don’t LOLing me. :)

I get your point, but while BK hasn’t achieved all-time status yet I was referring to his quiet low key fundamentally sound under appreciated demeanor.

Anyone that was in contention would have lost the back page to Tiger given his finish but I think the industry is having a tough time trying to market Koepka.

Koepka is not a young phenom (he's 28), he doesn't seem to have a great back story like Rory or Justin Thomas and he hasn't sought out the spotlight. He's a workhorse, he makes the game seem easy and he always seems to be emotionally in control. When he won the PGA, the media really played up that his mom was there to surprise him and when Koepka saw her, it was anti-climatic, he was obviously happy to see her but there was no show for the cameras. Koepka reminds me a bit of Mike Trout in baseball, Koepka wants to be the best but doesn't want to live his life in front of the cameras and that makes him tough to market.

Who currently or through the history of golf champions, would be easy to market today? Many seem to want emotionally dramatic....and that simply does not match what is usually successful in golf

The media would love to tell the Hogan story every time he was in contention, though his demeanor wouldn't work well. Seve would get a lot of coverage as would Daly. As for today, Spieth, Thomas, Rory, Fowler, Phil and Bryson are loved by the media when Tiger isn't playing.

I followed Brooks since is days over in Europe. Wish he was with still with Titleist, but that's not a huge deal.

I think it's translated well to some of the majors because he dosen't panic or press - he has a bit of extra focus not to put up a big number, whereas in some of the smaller events he seems to just go for broke and ride waves of bogeys and birdies like crazy.

He also plays fast, just like Rory and DJ, which is great for the game.

The fact that he got up on 18 at the PGA and absolutely bombed a driver right down the gut was pretty damn impressive.

Also of note - he's always hit it far. The announcers act like his newfound bigger biceps are carrying him to these distances, which they aren't. Rory was still insanely long before he touched weights. So was Tiger.

Name one player through time that was a short hitter or even average ....then one day became long???.....(serious question). All bombers .....use to be bombers.....

Reminds me of my favorite Mitch Hedberg bit:

"I used to do drugs. I still do...but I used to, too."

Wish he wasn't being honest when he said it...

They have to talk about somebody to fill their air time. I just don't think in today's world, that Spieth, Justin Thomas, Bryson,....Tom Watson, Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Annika Sorenstam, Nick Faldo, Ernie Els, etc etc...would be easy to "market"
