Mizuno MP64 vs. MP18 SC ????

I have the 64's, but am looking at those pretty 18 SC's.

I know they are both top class, players irons.

That said, how do they compare? Forgiveness, feel, workability, control, etc...

JP would say the mp18 SC aren’t really very pretty.

Rachel McAdams is pretty.

The only thing pretty in the mp18 line are the blades.

They are the Rachel McAdams of blades.

Glad you picked a great Canadian girl JP! I prefer the SC vs. the 64s. SC seemed more forgiving to me. Never really got along with 64s for some reason?! Thicker sole maybe with the SCs?!

I didn’t like the SC at all, wasn’t able to put on the same quality strikes like the blades; not sure if it was the size or grind, design....more than please withbmy MP18 blades.

If you like the 64 like did, I would look at the 900 Tour (which I also own) or even the new 919 coming out. You can see the 64 influence on the 900.

Just bought the SCs, had them over a week now and i am going back to my MP4s. Used to play the 64s which IMO are an all time classic iron. The SCs feel good, not great. They are no where near as soft as the 64s and not as forgiving to hit compared to their looks. The MP 18 blades feel great too but not as good as the MP4s. MP4s also look better - i am running back to them now!

Have owned both. The SC is more forgiving, especially in the longer irons and has a better hosel transition and look in the short irons. The 64 has a thinner topline throughout the set. Feel was similar with a slight edge to the 64 on flushed shots as it has more mass behind the ball which is why you lose a touch of forgiveness vs the SC.

Dude cmon the feel isnt really even close... the SCs are hard, 64s are butter

I went from the 64's to the 900 Tours and back to the 64's. Tried the SC's before going back the 64's, and the two aren't the same. Could be me, but the 64's are it for me. The progressive head shape throughout the set, feel, and performance are unmatched.

I’ve owned both and played a bunch of rounds with both. currently play sc. they are both excellent. The 64 is not as forgiving. They both feel excellent. Personally, I think the sc looks better. The toe side cavity of the 64 was always looked odd for me. The sc is very clean looking in the cavity. I prefer the sc overall.

I’ve only owned the 62s and those were my first blades. Love them and wish I still had them. I actually wouldn’t mind getting 62 or the 64. But I’ll keep me eyes out for them. But I would agree that that line of irons are great quality I haven’t had the chance to hit the sc18

Agree 100% ... 64's are pure butter... SCs are hard.. Have a set of 64s on the way

does anyone know what makes the MP-64 feel so good? I just bought a set of JPX-921 Tour with KBS$-Taper 120 shafts and sold them after about a month and went back to my MP-64 with S-300 tour issue shafts. They hit about the same but the MP-64 just felt a little better.
