Cleveland/Srixon dumps

Noticed a lot of brand new rtx 4 wedges showing up on BST, as well as some Srixon 85 stuff. This stuff is either pre release or just barley released. Wondering how people are getting their hands on stuff so fast that they apparently don’t want. I’m thinking maybe it’s staffers who get extra unwanted freebies?

Don’t know whether this is a reflection of the quality of the product or whether they are just putting too many freebies out there. Surely people can’t be dumping normal retail product this early in the game?

Anyways, it really doesn’t matter. Just curious. Anyone have any insights?

There was a spectacular deal on the RTX4s that was offered through their partner program. It appears that some people are taking advantage of the generous deal and breaking the rules. Granted, not all of the people selling are doing this, but I'm sure that some are. It's too bad. When people do this it makes it less likely that a deal this good will come back around.

What’s the partner program and how good was the deal?

Heard the same thing. Something crazy like $200 for a set of 4, right? Didn't think you could get multiple sets, though.

On the partner programs site they offered 3 wedges for $99. Obviously some of the thousands of employees of their retail partners will take advantage of this opportunity to make a quick buck. Im sure the exposure and early sales made will outweigh their desire to keep guys from doing that but Id rather just play mine since I like them so much.

Did you say RTX 4’s are at goodwill? Granted I read your post fast. But I’m sure all that’s in there...!!! ;)

Seriously. I posted a BST ad with a bunch of items. One of them was a pair of Nike shoes which I stated that I bought from BCF and had decided that I didn't want them (a bit loud for me). I put in the ad that I would sell them for $40 to cover the shipping and maybe make 2 or 3 dollars. My entire ad was deleted and, when I asked why, I was told that I had violated the BST rules... No flipping! I wasn't looking to make any money. The shoes cost $24.99 plus sales tax (I live in NY so total cost was $27.05) plus shipping of $10 give or take and paypal fees. Yeah, I'm doing this to make money! I even stated that I would rather pass along the deal rather than return them.

Apparently the rules are written. And outlaws like me are always trying to get around them to make a quick buck.

Ps. Another time I tried to post an ad which included a brand new 718 AP2 7 iron that my friend had decided he didn't want. Yup, that ad was taken down and I was told that, if my friend wants to sell his club, he could join and list his own ad. How many times have I seen people posting ads to sell their "father's" clubs? I've seen people posting for their brother and their friends. Word of the Day... Selectivity. I still haven't figured out how to become of the chosen ones.

I think you missed the point on the BCF shoes situation, it wasn't people who were selling to just break even that was the issue. Like most things, there are the select few that ruin things for anybody and that led to just the banning of any of those shoes period. Likely why your ad was removed especially when you stated you got them there.

Here's a couple that I always chuckle about:

8. Pullouts - please remove grip to make sure the shaft is not plugged or extended. Measure accurately. Provide tipping information if known. (Are even half the shafts sold on BST within this rule?)

9. No selling of new uninstalled shafts. (But new, uninstalled, still in the wrapper anything else is just fine)

10. Equipment – listing must state whether original or altered. This applies to all equipment and all processes (refinished, reshafted, lie angles adjusted, etc.). (Does simply "minty" count as an acceptable description? How about "purchased from a great BST'er as is" as a description of alterations?)

Love that last one... "I purchased this from a member on here. He stated that the condition was 8.5 and I've only used it for two rounds". Say no more! I'll take two please.

None of the ferrules match, grips are all cockeyed, and shafts are missing labels - "Purchased from BST member in current condition and only played a couple rounds. Feel pretty much standard to me."

This is exactly why I would NEVER pay close to retail price for Srixon-Cleveland Clubs. It sounds like they basically create a "Grey" Market for their products and devalue their clubs. Hell I bought

a brand new set of Z765 4-GW for $ 675 bucks about 18 moths ago in BST when they 1st launched. They are fantastic Irons but the shaft wasn't right for me so I sold them to another Club Ho. I recently

bought another set from Discount Dan's and he hooked me up because Srixon was flushing inventory for the Z785 launch.

3 RTX-4 wedges for $99 ?! How is that even possible LOL

Many, many years ago, when I worked in golf retail, it was unheard of to charge $99. Free was the going rate for a new model wedge or driver or putter. A simple hand shake agreement to push a manufacturers product could fill your bag. Balls and gloves could be stockpiled if you wanted. Most of the time though, the free items were added to stock to reduce the cost average and increase sales bonuses. How is it possible to give away so many ProV1's? The players paying retail price more than make up for the give aways. All manufacturers do it in one shape or another.

Do you really think a pair of $150 Nikes cost $100 to make? Probably cost $25 in reality. No different with golf clubs.

No, no I do not. I was more eluding to the vast number of people that are apparently able to score this deal, seemingly undermining the value. I appreciate your condescending tone, however.

I find it funny that people have an issue with people flipping PUD items. People have the chance to buy clubs that aren't even out yet for a 20-30% discount. People buy clubs that are brand new to retail for 60-70% of the cost of retail and then they STILL complain about the price. It's insane. These people are doing the BST a favor by flooding it and making prices lower for buyers.
