I got 2 putter covers. One is the Freedom cordura cover and the other is I think one of the Old Glory prototypes. As with all R&F cover, the quality and workmanship are outstanding. For $29, they are both well worth it. I'll post pics when i get a chance.

Totally understand that it is the luck of draw, that's why I am not faulting them. However, this was the opportunity to surprise me and win over a potential new customer and they failed in doing that. A number of the blank black zipper ones have turned up so maybe it wasn't all that random either. If I saw this cover in person, I would not have given it a second look, let alone paying for it.

They are super responsive. After placing my order, I think I have received 3 different emails. One asking how I heard of them, the second was a reply thanking me for the information, and the third was an invitation to follow them on social media. Granted, the first and 3rd emails were automatically generated, but the second seemed pretty genuine. I am not going to lie, if I get a plain black headcover with a zipper on it, I probably would second guess future purchases. I would really like to get a feel for the quality of their leather covers. That would go a great deal in my decision in purchasing additional for my 3 wood and putter.

What? Huge complainer? Is he not allowed to have an opinion about the product? He posted his initial displeasure and responded to other posters. He then took someones advice and contacted the company. He didn't slam the company, he didn't slam the quality of the product. Doesn't seem all that entitled. The plain black headcover is pretty lame. They literally have one headcover on their website that even remotely resembles that. You would expect that the headcovers on their site would be indicative of the product you would receive in a mystery buy. They have so many interesting designs, a plain black headcover would be a total let down.

 

You obviously are a huge supporter of the brand, and that's great. But, to expect everyone else to fall in line is a little silly.

No you didn't. I had already emailed him on Sunday. I wasn't planning to bring that up until after so I can report what the resolution was. I emailed him to voice my disappointment and didn't really expect him following up requesting a chat.

 

I was actually a bit of torn about having the chat because I am not sure what to ask for. I am almost sure he'll be offering to send me another one but I feel like I would be taking advantage of him. Only other way is to ship it back, but it's still a lose lose situation for everyone no matter who ends up paying for all the shipping cost.

 

I am not knocking the brand or the product. In fact I am currently using a putter cover by R&F. However, this isn't lottory where you probably get nothing, or next to nothing. When doing a mystery type of sale, you actually put yourself under great pressure to make people feel like they took the leap of faith and got their money's worth. I don't know how many people here recall the Callaway mystery box debacle from several years ago, most were up in arms even though the items sent were limited editions and had decent value.

These are the kinds of covers I would hope to receive. I assumed the headcovers sent out would be similar to the designs on their site. If I would have noticed that people were getting the odd zipper covers, I would have probably held off. I would rather spend a little more to get something I want.

I received a red, heavy canvas type driver headcover with the zipper.i have not used it and I doubt I ever do. That stated, there is nothing wrong with it and the quality seems too notch but this isn’t something I would purchase.

 

Overall, if you are interested in this type of cover, I doubt you would be disappointed. Me, it’s just not a style that I like but it was a Mystery Sale.

I received the white and green shamrock. I placed it next to a sunfish cover.

 

The R&F cover is longer maybe slightly wider and contains more padding. The SF cover is over a year old. We'll see how the new one his up.

Why would you assume something that’s not even available yet would be included in a clearance special?

 

I’ve had Rose & Fire covers on my Woods for about 4 years and they are phenomenal. Awesome protection and the durability is out of this world.

Mike has been great to work with. He is local and i support his work. Just out of curiosity did you guys specify in the comment section of your mystery box order the color scheme you wanted? I ordered my for and i am waiting for it but i did specify the color scheme i wish to receive but knowing that it is a mystery it could be anything.

Why even participate in the “mystery” box? If you want something specific ,order what you want so you won’t be easily disappointed.

Ive participated in these in the past and you don’t always get what you want, but it is what it is. Donate it to 1st tee , sale it or use it as an oven mitt. You could store salt and pepper in it.

Let's be clear here. The screenshot posted is what you get on page 1 when you go to see ALL headcovers. Here is the rest on page 2.

 

Out of ALL the cover listed on the site, 36 in total, there is only 1 that has few design than this, if you call that zipper a design to begin with. The plain black with number 1 is at least classy. Be that this is a mystery item, one would expect it be at least as good as what's listed, not something sub-par. That's like Audi does a mystery sale for the price of an A3, and send you off with a VW. Most would call that bait and switch. Surely the ones who ran off with an R8, like the cool camo set Eagle1997 scored, would feel very differently.

 

Again, I am not faulting the company or its products. However, in this instance, it was a huge swing and miss. The product delivered doesn't live up to the basic standard I expected from R&F.

 

I think I am going to give this thing away for just the cost of shipping so at least someone can be happy with it. If you want it, PM me.
