UK GOLF WRX day 2019 (England) ?

There's been talk on here for years and years. Just look at the thread in this section !

 

So equipment ho's:

 

How's about we actually cut through all the jockeying and gesturing and get something on paper for next year (?) It's not possible to please everyone; but hopefully after some chat about location, timing etc; we could get a date and place where the most people possible could attend and then get something potential down on paper with costs; after a little research.

 

I'm more than willing to organise / help organise.......if anyone else wants to be involved. And if we can find a decent course at semi-sensible money - we can all simply pay whatever the days fees are; plus a small amount to go into a prize fund for the days 'winners'. Or losers as the case may be :hi:

 

Looking at a map of the UK and where there's plenty of chimney pots and major roads leading to; i'd initially suggest somewhere in the Northampton / Milton Keynes/ Bedford area perhaps (Go look at a map if you're unsure).

 

Whats everyone think ? Any better idea's or suggestions ? Anyone potentially keen ?

Some place like Northamptonshire Country GC has a pretty wide cachement area:

Sutton Coldfield GC would be another reasonable one that pops to mind.

 

I've not lived in England for a while now, but I visit regularly, so I spend way too much time humming and hawing about where to play :)

Actually I've not played them, which is why I suggest them, lol.

Played Holinwell, Beau Desert, and Blackwell, in the neighbourhood relative to them.

 

I'm a Johnny Nomates golfing wise, so as I visit my non-golfing friends, I stake out golf courses along the way.

I'll definitely keep an eye out - I know I am over at least once for work and maybe more :)

Yeah I'd be interested in this for sure. South Midlands area would work well for me. I've played NorthamptonCounty once before, it's a great track and I'd gladly play it again.

Just thinking aloud here; would people fancy a 4BBB format. Perhaps with a random draw on the day for partners - to keep it nice and friendly with no pressure, just a good natured game of golf with like minded folk on a decent course...

The first 1/2 of Sept - after we have Labour Day over here - is a pretty common time for me to visit. After all the family hols are done and you're not stuck behind caravans all the time. That first week of Sept would be spot on.

Very early Sept would be a great time weather wise, family wise and courses should be looking swell too. I agree full on !

Anything that provides at the very least “reasonable / decent golf”: whilst also giving the best opportunity for the most people attending sounds great.

None at all Mark ! Kind of figured it was still early / low on numbers to tie down an exact course; as opposed to a general location.

 

Have you had some thoughts then ? Do share if you have......
