Furyk asked if Tiger had a back injury???

I guess maybe I was watching something different on TV. All these posts saying Tiger carried Reed, I figured they must have won handily. So he carried Reed to a loss!?

Reed wasn’t good, but take off the striped glasses and realize Tiger wasn’t great either. Remeber, the match is more than the front nine.

Not wearing any type of glasses. If you have read any of my posts over the years on this site, nobody likes Tiger less than I do. But Reed has been absolutely abysmal.

Furyk probably kept hearing "Tiger's back, Tiger's back..." a couple hundred thousand times and got nervous there was more to it.

Oh, I’m not disputing how bad Reed has been, just that so many are insinuating that Reed is dragging down Tiger. I’m sure it didn’t help any, but Tiger was plenty bad on his own.

I was listening to PGA Tour Radio earlier in the week and they commented that Tiger was bothered by a cold/sinus problem which happened between leaving US and arriving in France. Today he looked like he felt like crap but I wasn't sure if that was being sick or sick from watching Dechambeau do absolutely stupid sh#t during their round.

But, since this thread started with Furyk's name, I have to say that if the US does lose...Furyk's pairings should bear a great deal of the blame. Reminds me of kids sports here in the US...everyone has to play. Maybe the US will get a "Participation Trophy" if they do no win.

Like quarterbacks, US Ryder Cup captains get too much credit when the US wins and too much of the blame when the US loses. You never know what pairings are going to gel and which ones aren't. Who would have thought Fleetwood and Molinari would be like peanut butter and jelly? It's easy to look back in hindsight and second guess Furyk's decisions but ultimately it's the players who hit the shots. There have been lots of matches so far that the US had absolutely no business losing. Chief among them Woods/Reed. The only decision of Furyk's that I think can be fairly criticized is sending Phil out in alternate shot. I mean, honesty, W T F? If Furyk was dead set on sending Phil out in alternate shot, Phil needed to be paired with a premium ball striker and scrambler. Someone who could extricate the team's ball from the terrible places Phil is going to put it. Someone like Tiger.

Always thought it was way over-ambitious to play 7 out of 9 weeks, with the last one being overseas. It'll be the stupidest thing in the world if we're robbed (the continuation) of a Tiger comeback because of this fricken exhibition team play event.

Shouldn’t be a problem. Over in the thread about Furyk being asked about Tiger’s back a poster said he’s not old for his age (body wise) because he stays in shape compared to the other players.

So it shouldn’t be any problem playing that much. <sarcasm>

I said that, and its true, reading here you would think he was 70 lmao, he is 42 geez

So that seems to make the argument "Tiger was less abysmal than Reed", yes ?

I agree that the Michelson decision for foursomes was ridiculous. Maybe give him one shot at 4-ball, and then the singles. BUT, the decision to play Tiger 3 rounds ahead of singles, particularly after watching him in obvious “distress”, was just as egregious. Thanks Furyk!

Yes, Tiger has a back injury.

His spine is fused by a plate like a wall switch and screwed together.

Nonetheless, he win on the PGA Tour! Lol.

Tiger is playing with borrowed time given his well documented health condition. It’s been incredible that the guy has been able to get back to this level, but the clock is ticking and literally every swing counts. It’s such a waste to see him out there struggling at an event like this. I want to see him contending in as many majors as possible for the next few years. Please, no more Ryder Cup for Tiger.

During his post round interview on the course, his speech sounded slow and kind of slurry....my wife said the same thing before I even said anything. The first thing I thought of was meds for the back. Anyone else pick this up too?

Just came in to post this. It would be devastating if Tiger has injured himself again after all he's achieved this year, but his speech definitely sounded slow and slurry and he seemed very spaced out too - see video below:

https://www.golfchan...fter-going-0-3/

Fingers crossed it's not too big of an issue, if we get a TW blog post in the off-season that mentions another injury/surgery I may have to throw my laptop out the window.

I would put my money on sick cold/flu since there was talk of a few players having it and Bubba giving the elbow shake instead of the hand shake post match as to not spread it other people.

I’d put money in him not giving a sh— about this event. He shouldn’t be on another Ryder Cup or captain at any point.
