@Stevie.Red, I have found the Kaplan MacGregor catalog on this archive website.  You may need to create an account on the website in order to access the full catalog.  I have also found some old Hillerich and Bradsby sales pamphlets by searching on that website’s database.  The other Kaplan catalogs don’t seem to be available on there, so you may have to purchase those as @bcstones suggests. But at least the MacGregor catalog should help with your current question.

@Stevie.Red  it might help you to start to research buying the Kaplan books on the Hillerich & Bradsby, MacGregor, & Wilson lines..and the edition 4 of the the Maltby guide

Even with a Kaplan that’s new to me I’m still a little overwhelmed with the information. Hopefully a Mac expert will chime in. You got a weird one.

PT2W first appeared in 1960 I think. Totally different face insert but it’s obvious yours has been replaced/repaired along the way. Totally different screw pattern. 693 style of pattern so diamond shape compared to yours. Black and white pictures but original looked like a firing pin style of insert. Those TP metal firing pin Mac’s are gorgeous if you’ve never seen them bye the way.

Anothor odd thing is the SEOM sole plate. SEOM first shows up in 1957. Basically it’s a slightly bigger head but the main thing is the extra width, bigger face insert. 6 screw pattern 3 on each side. Not sure how long SEOM would have been an option. PT’s did have the same shaped sole plate. I’m not sure about the SEOM stamping on that plate.

My uneducated guess is you may have a bit of a Frankenstein piece. Maybe even someone’s DIY project. That sure looks like a poured replacement insert and maybe they threw 4 screws in for security/looks??? Possibly also threw on an older SEOM sole plate cuz of damage or whatever??

That is exactly right. It is a PT2W head with a replacement poured epoxy insert and a replacement SEOM soleplate.

Gents, as promised- here is what I was asking about but now I’ve got them and can send better pics etc.

Firstly thank you for your input and secondly I appreciate your patience with what might be some newbie-ish questions I’ve asked. THIRDLY I am impressed with what assessments have been made- her name is Frankenstein. I think there are crusted dried remnants of old lead tape (adhesive) which has been painful and scary to remove so I’m considering just leaving it. Please keep in mind whatever you see in the following pics I only paid $25CAD for ALL of this, the haig irons alone are worth more than that without question.

did some quick googling and found matching set of haigs on eBay- seller says he bought them in the 60s. Couldn’t see the club soles on his listing though. Weird that the PW is longer than the 9i but I think they could b from diff sets / eras, no serial number on PW ferrule.
Didn’t expect the dci 2 iron but it’s going in the bag of either gamers or vintage gamers immediately I think.
Powerbilt Persimmon almost mint except a little wear on the heel, idk why but I like it (no shaft sticker).

Haven’t looked at the spaldings in any way yet so idk, but they’re In great shape.

You already met Frankenstein. It doesn’t appear to be an insert, as predicted. Well done fellas.

Thanks again and enjoy!

easy enough to remove...a small propane heater or even a lighter held to the lead tape & the lead softens, melts & remove w/rag...I usually follow up w/a 0000 steel wool soaked in PB Blaster to remove the adhesive - or use that "goo gone" or is it "goof off"....no harm to the club...

We have goo gone, I’ll try it soon! Thanks for the tip. Am worried about wrecking the finish / having whatever chemicals eat into the coating to cause faster deterioration. I’ll take your word though!

If you plan on gaming your Frankenstein driver I would suggest having it checked out. Those major neck cracks can possibly be cause for concern.

Thanks, I appreciate your concern. For the $5 it cost me I am not worried about it. Worst case scenario I am driverless for a round of golf if something goes wrong. I know it’s got zero value anyways given the condition it’s in

I just hit the jackpot. I am going to make a separate post for it. All I can say is…. Macgegor tourney GALORE. M85W galore. 653. 693. All original or restored and faces almost all mint. 9/10 club head/ faces. Cleveland Classic RC 85.
Wilson 71 button backs 1i-9i.  Another set of dynapowers (missing 7i), some punters and wedges to complete the sets. Random 2 irons (MT, Hogan, Fluid feel Wilson Staff)

here is a teaser pic. Dont really know what to do besides eBay.

A collector passed on and I’ve scooped up the best stuff I think. Am going back for more later. Idk what to do I should have taken  them all

teasers attached
