Titleist TS2 driver Owners club / thread

MG 1977

Recommended Posts

I thought I'd start a thread for those who have purchased the TS2 Driver. Tell us about yourself handicap, ss, etc and what Spec you have bought. Say what you like about the TS2 and what driver you came from.

I play off 4 swing around 105mph. I'm a high launch, v.low spin player, I can shape it both ways when needed but generally have a neutral ball flight when swinging well.

I bought a 10.5° with the hzrdus smoke 6.0.

My last gamer was a Cobra F8+ with hzrdus black HC 6.0 shaft. I really enjoyed the Cobra until the hzrdus broke and I just couldn't get another shaft that felt the same. I had a brief fling with a Ping G Max 10.5 tour stiff and a Rogue 10.5 Evenflow 6.0 but neither really suited me for different reasons.

What I like about the TS2 is the clean simple looks at address and how straight the face is which makes it really easy to align. The feel and sound are fantastic, I've had lots of comments from playing partners saying how well it sounds. On the playing side I normally have to tee the ball up a minimum of 3/4 ball above the crown to get good launch and spin. I've found with the TS2 that I can play this stock drive but can also play around a lot more with the tee height and get very good results, From anything from a 100mm long drive tee pegged up way above the crown for down wind bombs, to the ball pegged down below the crown for the more controlled flight into the wind, this is a shot I've never had before... I've even hit it well off the deck on par 5s.

I now have 8 rounds or so under my belt with the TS2 and I'm more than happy. I seem to find the centre of the face a lot more than with previous combos where my strike would drift out towards the toe. It ticks the box in all departments for me, ball speed up with the rogue, Forgivness of the Ping g400 max and the consistency I had with my F8+. I can see this driver staying in my bag for a long time, I have a few other shafts that I like but I'm not even tempted to have Titleist adapters put on them..... yet?

Just picked up my TS2 earlier this week but already have 2 range sessions and absolutely love it. Coming from an M2 dtype as my miss is to hit a couple blocks a round. Every club in my bag has been Titleist for the last 10 years other than driver. Just haven’t been able to get along with any of them since the 909 d2.

I think the TS2 is finallly the club to complete my all Titleist set. Swing speed is around 95-100 with pretty smooth tempo. I’m about a 12 handicap but would score much better if I didn’t hit 2-3 ob blocks a round.

Got fit into a TS2 8.5 Tensei 55 stiff 45 inches D2 swingweight. The face being so straight gives me confidence that I’m not going to lose the ball left and I haven’t been. Just bullet baby draws with the occasional miss to the right that holds about 10-15 yards offline. Playing on Sunday so I’m hoping I get similar performance.

I’ve got 4 rounds in on TS2 Smke 6.0. I’m hitting it further and straighter than this years drivers which I have owned or demoed on course. For me it’s longer, better feeling and as or more forgiving than G400/LST/Max. F8+, M3, Rogue and Rogue SZ and the new Srixon Z 585. It just works for me like no other. Now I need to find my irons

Played my first round with my new TS2 today. I was a bit short the first 3 holes just because I'm still getting used to it. I hit the screws a couple times after that and got really good distances. Even when I mishit it, low on the face is my miss, I only lost 5 yards - Very forgiving. I feel like I have no fear of the tee now and can start playing golf again.

I just got the TS2 in 10.5. Previously played a 915D2 10.5. I use the same shaft in the TS2 that I played in the 915 -- Kiyoshi Purple 65g 04. Have not played a round yet but did go to the range. I noticed I am getting more carry distance that my 915 and miss hits on the toe and heel still were very good. Hoping to get on a launch monitor some time this week to get some stats.

Played for the first time yesterday with my TS2 8.5 Tensei 55 stiff. The ball does not want to go right with this setup, which is my miss. Thinking the SFW technology works. If anything was missing fairways left.

I hit a couple drives downwind that went 270 to 280ish. That’s huge for me as my swing speed is around 95-100 and normally carry the ball a little less than 240. Also noticed I’m getting more role with this driver. With my m2 my ball would pretty much stop where it landed.

Love this driver.

Currently playing TS2 with Tensei 55 Reg, 10.5, D4 setting at 44.5" and +4gms of lead tape on head for a SW of D2 until Titleist gets the Surefit wts back in stock in Jan. SS 94-97mph playing to a 4. TS2 is best feeling Titleist driver for me since the 983K (anyone remember that?). I was also a fan of the 909D2. I was originally fit with the stiff 11.5 but reg felt better and not much diff in dispersion so I went with the reg (and 10.5 was in the shop so I went with that instead of 11.5). Definitely longer than my 917 with better feel and sound for me. Lately more inconsistent and while I know it's probably more my swing than club I've been tinkering with settings and demo'ing other shafts. Monitor says I'm longer and more consistent/better dispersion with Hzrdus Smoke 5.5 (reg) so I'm going to play that this weekend. Interesting that the Hzrdus 5.5 60 at 45.5" weighs the exact same (118gm) as the 44.5" Tensei 55 reg (with same grips). I have 1 extra wrap with Tensei. I weighed each on accurate home scale.

I'd love to hear about other experiences and specifics about length and settings and what's working for others! Thanks and Best of the Holidays!

Not an owner (yet) but I hit quite a lot of shots with the TS2 at a demo day yesterday. I hit the 11.5 TS2 mostly in the KK50 stiff shaft and a few in the Tensei Blue stiff. I'm a low launch, low spin player so I don't get on with Hzrdus. My gamer is the G400Max 10.5 in the Alta CB stiff and this is my comparison:

Feel: The TS2 is way more muted and feels soft. The Ping has a loud hard crack at impact. I'm used to a heavier shaft and SW but tbe TS2 and the KK shaft felt very smooth and "plush" and nice.

Looks: The TS2 has very little bulge and roll and is easy to line up. It looked smaller than the Ping to me (both 460cc). I don't know if that is the head shape or the matte finish of the Max that causes the size illusion but the result is that the Ping is more confidence inspiring at address. The TS2 is shiny and reflections can be distracting.

Performance: The Ping has a tendency to go left on me. Because of my low launch and spin I loft the Ping up but that closes the face and exaggerates my left miss. I can leave the 11.5 TS2 on the stock setting where the face is quite straight or loft down to open the face and also flatten the lie angle to take the big left miss away.

My usual ball speed with the Ping is around 158. The slowest I saw with the TS2 was 158 and the highest was 163.

Summary: It was pretty close but due to my specific need for a high lofted driver with an open face, the TS2 is what I would buy if I had an older driver. Whether the marginal gains over the G400Max are worth the spousal disharmony is a different matter...

I'm the anti-GWXer. Very reluctant to replace a golf club that works on the course. Not particular interest in numbers from simulators or trackman. I test cubs o the course and would only consider changing a club for one that I hit materially better on the course.

All of that said I now have aTS2i my bag replacing the 915 D-2 that has been there since it came out.

The D-2 hung around so long because it was so damned reliable. Perhaps not a longest, but it reliably put the ball in play when I needed to do it.

I finds the TS2 to be just as reliable and longer where it counts, on the golf course, 10 to 15 yards longer. Why is it longer? Not sure, perhaps because it is lighter, perhaps because I'm playing it at standard length 45.5 instead of 44, don't really care why, but it is longer and at least as straight.

My TS2 replaced a 917 which I had for a few months & recently had fitted with a Hzrdus Smoke 6.0 - Prior to the 917 I had an M3 for several months (almost a record for me!) - The TS2 is the best driver I have used (so far!) - Looks fantastic at address, feel & sound cannot be faulted - Performance is really good, on the range & on the course, although the wet winter here in the UK makes comparisons tricky - I bought mine after a test session on a launch monitor - I was convinced the TS3 would suit my swing best (I am 4hcp / 61yrs / driver ss @ 100mph) but I hit the TS2 better - All testing was done with the Smoke from my 917, although I did try a couple of other shafts (Tensei / Even Flow) but Smoke was top performer - My only gripe is the cover! - Wish they'd stayed with a "normal" cover or a nice "pom-pom" but nothing I can't find myself!

Swapped my Epic Flash out for a TS2. Both with the HZRDUS Smoke 6.0. Once I dialed the TS2 in at C1 I was hitting automatic bomb cuts right in the middle of the fairway. No shorter or longer than my EF but I can go after it as hard as I want with no fear of it going left and didn’t hit a single high weak cut to the right which happened when I really went after my EF.

How have I never seen this thread?!!! Best driver on the market imo! Paired with the Pro white 60 it’s the best shaft/head combo I’ve ever played.

Got my TS2 9.5 w/ Tensei Stiff in April. Replaced 915D2 10.5 w/ Rogue Stiff.

I’m a 65 year old 7 handicap with a mid 90’s swing speed. So far I think I hit farther than the 915D2. Debating switching my 915F 3 wood to a TS2 3 wood.

I didnt come from the M3/M5 but came from the '17 M2 and the TS2 is a much more forgiving driver, sounds better and is longer with the same shaft (Tensei Pro White 60).

Since I have the attention of TS2 golfers, what type of golfer do you feel fits into this particular driver?

I currently use a Rogue Draw with a senior shaft, 10.5 and 44" long. My drivers are around 200 yards give or take. Sorry, I don't know my swing speed. Would I go with the TS1 or TS2. I'd probably get a fitting, but just looking for information before going into the fitting.

Titleist designed the TS1 for guys like us, but you had better try both before buying. I tend to get quick in transition (at least before my shoulder injury), so the light weight of the TS1 might cause big dispersion problems. It is best to get some on course experience, or at least get fit. I find actual playing experience to be more valuable. Actual game experience, if you will.

Excellent advice... thanks.

Interesting.... I tried the TS3 when it first came out and wasn't much of a fan. The TS2 did feel really nice, but the head shape was something I had a hard time liking. The TS2 3w has been outstanding for me and I recently (within the last few months) stumbled on the '17 M2. I didn't get along with the '16 M2 but the '17 has been probably the best driver I have played yet. I never seem to get in trouble with it and it is plenty long and plenty forgiving... I would love to see how the TS2 driver does, but just not ready to let go of the M2 right now... How much more distance would you say you gained?

I’d say about 10 yards. But it’s the consistency that is the biggest standout. It’s a fairway finder, so it that sense it’s further also. Love the TS2 3W as well such awesome metalwoods
