Cabot Cliff & Links - WOW

Arrived yesterday for 4 days of golf and after one round... What an experience! Played Cabot Links in cold and wet conditions but what an experience of playing a true Links course along the ocean. The fairways and greens were in great shape for so late in the season.

 

My pictures don't do it justice... Can't wait to play the cliffs today.

What a day at the Cliffs. 50kph winds with gusts into the 90s. Hail and rain on the 1st 3 holes which gave way to sun and cloud. It was tough but I stayed under 100 so I'm happy considering the conditions. I watch a few wedge shots actually come back at me!

 

The cover on my bag is a Ping rain towel. Works great...

I had originally planned to come there this weekend to play. Looks amazing but sounds like conditions were brutal. Still near the top of my list.

Can you give us details of your trip? I have a group trying to plan a trip and we're working on transportation, accommodations ect.

Coles notes would be we booked shoulder season. Prime time rounds are $280+ but in June and Oct it's $90. We stayed onsite in the lodge for $145 a night (2 per room). So for 3 nights, 4 rounds, and airfare and rental from Toronto we were just over $1000 per player.

Great golf courses, I've been there a bunch of times, living so close. Glad you enjoyed it, weather can be brutal in Oct in Nova Scotia haha.

Great courses and staff and accommodation..... Only knock is they didnt have squat repellant in scoop of across the street, they ate me, but left our group alone!

Every time I see someone do a trip report on Cabot it makes me want to go that much more. From hole 15-18 has to be one of the best closing stretches in the world, no? It looks incredible in pictures and I'm assuming even better in person.

Don't want to hijack this thread (will start another if I need to), but for those of you who live up there, if you were trying to play during the off season rates, would you rather play at the end of May or middle/end of Oct?

This might be controversial but.... I loved Cabot cliffs and thot it was incredible but 16 & 17 are a bit of a joke in my opinion. 16 looks great but the green is way to severe and was impossible for us to hit and hold from the back tee. And 17 is just bizarre. 12 is a bit too extreme as well but apart from that it’s sensational

I understand your point of view, but I really liked holes 16-18 at Cabot Cliffs. However, I did not try to play these holes from the back tees, and the pin was on the upper level on the left on #16 and I had no trouble holding the green. I don't normally like blind tee shots, but for some reason I found #17 interesting and fun. You have to aim for a spot and get good advice from your caddy, but it's fun to walk over the hill and then see where your tee shot ended up. My opinions of the closing holes at Cliffs are probably biased, though, by the fact that I birdied 16 and 18 and parred 17. These were the only birdies I had all day so I walked away with a very positive view of these closing holes.

I think the cliffs is better than pebble. 17 is a little goofy, but the rest of the golf course is flawless!

After 4 rounds I'm giving Links the nod as my favorite course BUT Cliffs has some spectacular holes that I'll never forget. #2 #6 #15 thru #18 specifically.

 

Looking forward to returning one day when the weather is alittle more inside! However the wind and the links style of play was actually really enjoyable! The hail, snow, and rain... Not so much.

Agreed weather can great or miserable in May & October. Course conditions should be good in the fall spring in big question mark.
