Sadlowski Giving it Another Go....

"With all due respect." "It's not about the money." "It's not personal." "Don't take this the wrong way." All phrases that lead to an immediate need for a foxhole. To topic, it would be cool to see Cameron Champ and Jamie in the same group.

Here are some of my favorite jumping-off-the-cliff lead-ins:

“I don’t normally discuss politics or religion at work but....”

“I’m not racist but...”

“I totally understand being a stay at home mom is hard but...”

“The Nazis were terrible but...”

An example that distance is not everything.

I am not sure there is a single person on the entire planet who thinks that is actually true. LOL :-)

I give you..........Geoff Shackelford :)

Is he a big-time "roll back the ball" guy?

I sure wouldn't put Jamie and Cameron Champ in the same boat as players. Jamie is a freak show, and Cameron, first and foremost, is a GOLFER who's not even really interested in the "long bomber" label. He's also got a great short game and he thinks very well. It seems that there is something inherently difficult for this new crop of super long drivers of the ball, including Rory, DJ, et al.. DJ is the only one who seems to have identified the issues that an action like his makes hitting wedges exact distances and certain touch shots very difficult, and he spent a lot of time on the practice tee working it out. Rory's still trying to work it out. And people say that DJ's not too smart. Ever notice that DJ's wedge shots make a distinctly different sound than anyone else's? I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Champ will have that part figured out also in short order, especially with Foley over his shoulder. If the golf media tries to pigeonhole CC into the long-bomber basket, don't be surprised if he doesn't play along. The kid is the real deal.

Funny how much Tiger’s wedges and short irons improved within a year of turning pro.

It was really, really impressive imo

Absolutely. From 96-99 it was very different. He was blowing over greens from 120 in his first 2 years. After that, he controlled his rotation and took off the spin with some dead hand shots and it was game over.It clicked.Thats where harmon helped him the most distance control inside 200 was sublime especially inside 120.

Obee

What’s the difference in the course this year with the new super.

The greens haven't been perfect and firm like they were when I came to Bear Creek seven or eight years ago. Late fall through early spring they used to be soooo firm and true. Now much softer the last couple years. Older members started complaining a lot for a while, and then we have gone through a couple supers in the last two years. We'll see....

Obee I havent played there in like almost 15 years. Has the course matured since then or changed a bunch? i remember the back being a little tougher and accuracy was more at a premium.I cant remember hitting alot of drivers. Hope youre doing well and the game is in good shape!

The course is pretty similar to what it always was. A couple new tees to push it almost to 7200, but it's not long by today's standards, for sure. It's 100% a second shot golf course. If every pin was in the toughest spot on the green, par would be a good score for anyone on a good day.

But when it's 6/6/6 with the pins, the a good round is 3 to 5 under, which all of these guys can shoot no problem when they are hitting their irons crisply. And the par 5's should be played in 2 - 3 under by most guys (only one that plays long, number 14, which is 545, but plays 565 or so and if there's wind into, can play 580 to 600.

The defenses of the course are the deep bunkers and the pushed up greens that, when firm, can be very, very difficult to get the ball close on many pins.

With all the players making it to 2nd stage already proving themselves through pre-qual and 1st stage, and 3 - 5 under moving on through four rounds, the course obviously plays pretty tough when that's just the top 18 and ties of 70+ golfers.

My game is solid right now. I hit the ball shorter than ever, but my stroke average is the lowest it's been in a long time due the claw allowing me to putt yip-free and a new mental approach to the game. Last 20 tournament rounds I have a stroke avg of 73.4. Very pleased with that. How's your game?

Sorry for OT but anybody know what's up with Luke Guthrie? Is he qualified for web.com tour next year and, other than yes golf is very hard, why has he gone from PGA Tour to barely making it on the web.com?

Luke has to go through q school. He was exempt into 2nd stage and will be playing next week at the Brooksville FL site. IIRC his issues have been off the tee, just hitting it crooked too often. Surprising to see him struggle after starting his career so well, but like you said, that's golf.

I do, lol....The guy drives it a mile, but can't get on tour. Explain that to me. Obviously he's lacking some tools.

This glosses over just how hard it is to get on tour. Everyone hits it a mile now, he might be at the very top end but most of the bombers have to gear down some to compete on tour. The fact he is competing in second stage shows he has pretty damn good tools.

What's the course record, out of curiosity....

61 by Si Woo Kim in Q School several years back. 62 is Rickie's best.

Played in front of him that day. He missed about a 15 footer to tie the course record.

Thats good to hear! Im still rehabbing to avoid surgery.Still cant walk the course on back to back days but getting there slowly. Keep the good scoring up. Hopefully when i get my full speed back i can maintain the short game i have right now.I think getting hurt was the best thing to happen to my short game! Im glad the claw grip is helping your stroke, go with what works! hopefully I can in get some florida mini tour action in late january/feb and see how it goes.

As for bear creek i do recall playing in a flight the day after my practice round and getting steamrolled when i shot 2 under. Like you said i do recall some elevated greens and i dont know if my mind is playing tricks on me remembering but the rough was thicker on one side of the fairways generally.I dont know if it is shade or irrigation or me misremembering! My buddies always went out there to qualify but it was too far for me unless i parlayed it into some golden state tour events to finance some expenses. If i recall US open sectionals were held there as well a few times a ways back right? Glad youre doing well. Continued great golf and good health to you my man!

Does anyone know how far he’s hitting it? I assume he’s toned it down substantially, but I wonder if he cuts it loose every now and again.
