Kuro is stiffer in the butt than a white, but softer in the tip. It's stiffer in the tip than a blue but softer in the handle. There isn't really a Diamana that will compare, as they are two entirely different lines, with different profiles and also different materials that make the feel different as well. The closest Diamana is going to be a Diamana DF. I assume you aren't getting responses because there is no context provided to direct you on a certain path.

Thanks for the response, that sounds about what I expected from any info I can find which doesn't seem to be much.

I understand the feel will be abit different and the obvious reason why it is in a different 'line' of shafts but was hoping the launch etc could be defined abit more which I think you've done. I haven't hit the DF line but understand it is a slightly softer tip version of the whiteboard line?

I put quite abit of context into the original post but wasn't getting any responses so I assumed I was being too detailed and putting people off responding...so I deleted it all and went very basic and simple.....which seems to be have been too simple!!

For more detail on my context and from the original opening post;

Currently play a XCaliber T6+ TS flex shaft in my driver and TFW TS flex in my 3-wood. Have historically had a wristy late release with a quick transition so always played tip stiff shafts (Prolite, OG Whiteboard), flex wise usually right on the lower end of X flex, can get away with WB 73X if swinging well, play X100 soft stepped in my irons. I am currently changing my swing (or attempting to) to a more full turn/body release and have noticed I've lost some launch and spin with my woods unless I really flush it. My iron play has improved a lot but looking to gain some help in getting my driver in particular up in the air abit more with some more spin to control it. With that in mind looked at a few different shafts so far only in fairway woods though and have liked the Kai'li 80X in a 5 wood that has been tipped 1", probably bit on the tight end so going to go with 70X tipped 0.5" in my 3 wood (Purple Ice 85X has also had some playing time and felt good but abit too spinny). Moving onto my driver I was concerned a Kai'li might be bit too loose for my liking (though hoping to find one to try) so was looking into something hopefully between an OG Whiteboard and a Kai'li and stumbled onto the Kuro Kage Dual Core TiNi despite not knowing much about them, after a brief read on a whim I managed to pick up a 70X on the cheap, so now I'm trying to work out what to do with it.....so a few questions;

- Is it going to be in the right ball-park of a Whiteboard/Kai'li launch wise?

- How does it play in relation to flex to a Whiteboard/Kai'li?

- Should I be looking to play straight in given I would tip a Kai'li or should I be looking to tip it? (Yes I know I can try and then pull and tip if required but would prefer not to have to run the risk of damaging the tip..)

- Is the feel going to be similar to the Diamanas or totally different?

Thanks in advance for any input!

  • 2 weeks later...

If anybody is after more info on this shaft I managed to play a few rounds over the xmas break with it and got a decent feel for it.

Firstly it definitely launches higher than a whiteboard but not too high, spin seemed higher too but again not in a bad way. It is probably in similar window to a Kail'li but the shaft seems to offer abit more feel. As said, it is definitely a smoother feel and felt like it offered abit more forgiveness than the Diamana range that I've hit, though this could be deemed abit of a looser feel by some or maybe even playing slightly softer to flex. That said it still felt fairly tight despite the higher torque. Distance wise I don't have any numbers but it felt like it carried further but rolled less than the Whiteboard and the XCaliber I had in the driver previously. The height and carry are all good most of the time but I think I may struggle in windier condition, mainly into the wind so thinking about keeping the Whiteboard to switch into when I venture out to the coast.

Overall it's be a success and a bargain so I'll be sticking with it for the time being!
