Recoil difference. 780es to 95 f3

So, I'm a low but older single digit hc who has moved to graphite due to injuries. Currently playing the lightest shafts I've ever used Accra 80i s. Anybody have experience with both recoil 95 and 780es. Thinking particularly of comparisons between the 780 Es in the f4 to the 95 in f3. Wondering how these two shafts might compare as they are pretty close in specs on paper . I ve played the recoil 95s in f4 pre injuries with good success but feel I need to let the shaft work A little bit more for me now. Am I wrong in thinking that the 95 f3 would be comparable to the 780 in f4? Thanks in advance

I play the Recoil 95 F3 in Ping G short irons and the 780ES in F3 flex in a Ping G700 6-iron. In those clubs, the 780ES plays a bit softer and launches a bit higher than the 95. I don't know if the F4 flex in the 780ES would make it play exactly the same as the 95 in F3, but I would think these shafts would play a lot alike (although the 95 would still be heavier, of course).

In my opinion, yes. The 780 is a little softer than the 95 but not even close to a full flex. But it really depends a lot on your swing and your particular sensitivities to the stiffness of various parts of the shaft. So you'd need to do some testing to see how they might compare for you.

 

But keep in mind that

 

1) weight is generally much more important than flex or the stiffness profile.

2) the weight difference between the two will be a bit more than the specs would indicate since the 780 is a parallel tip shaft and the 95's are a tapered ascending weight set (more weight will be removed from the 780 when you cut it down to the desired playing length).

Thanks for the reply’s gentlemen, much appreciated . So hard to test shafts here in Ontario , Canada and I’ll be the first to admit that I often try to fig it out on paper when deep down I know that rarely ever works. Im definitely more of a swinger with a smooth transition and wondering whether keeping a bit more weight in the 95 recoil might be a good fit . Turning 60 this year and not opposed to dropping flex to f3 if I think it can help with ball flight . From what I have read about that flex in the 95 is that it still holds up well to a decent swing .

You might want to re-shaft a single iron to try out the Recoil 95 in F3 if you don't want to continue to use a sub-80 gram shaft in your irons.
