Project x LZ vs Modus 105

How does the modus 105 stiff compare to the LZ 5.5 in terms of feel, stiffness, etc? Has anyone directly compared these two shafts in the same head? Thanks!

I actually played the modus 105 stiff thus summer and part of 2017, I then went to the dg105 s300 I really felt they both were close, I now have the lz 5.5 and I have not been able to play them on the course yet due to weather but I gave hit them several times and based on feel the 5.5 gives me a more pronounced smooth jolt/kick at impact, the dg105 had less jolt feeling than the modus 105 , but it's really close on them two, distance on both 105 were very similar

I will tell you more next week when I get to play outside again lol

I was suprised the 5.5 lz felt that good actually because I'm not a face of the PX steel

Thanks for the info; same here I never got along with the original px 5.5 too boardy. And I’m a slower swinger. Got fit for the modus 105 or the ping amt shaft in stiff. Currently play the modus in my i200 and love it, but toying with the idea of a set of 900 forged with the 5.5 in them.

If you can report back that would be great! We are just starting to get snow so won’t see a course for months lol.

The lz definitely did not feel boardy like the px , I will let you know performance soon

I played the i200 last year with the Modus 105 Stiff and they felt great so smooth but can be a bit hard to flight down for my swing anyway in a strong wind. I also have a set of JPX 900 with 5.5 LZ and will agree these shafts are not boardy like the standard PX and feel very smooth with a nice kick to them. Similar shafts to me with the Modus have a softer tip.

I played the i200 last year with the Modus 105 Stiff and they felt great so smooth but can be a bit hard to flight down for my swing anyway in a strong wind. I also have a set of JPX 900 with 5.5 LZ and will agree these shafts are not boardy like the standard PX and feel very smooth with a nice kick to them. Similar shafts to me with the Modus have a softer tip.

I love the flight I get with my i200 power spec and the modus, but yes I do find in the longer irons, esp the 4, it goes too high and I lose some distance. I play in an area where wind is often a factor too. Sounds like the 5.5 with the 900 forged might be a good combo. How else would u compare the two heads in terms of length, forgiveness, feel etc? I love the feel of the i200 tbh- has a forged type feel.

I have the same issue with my longer irons. I just compared the two the other day i200 power spec as well against the JPX 900 5.5 LZ with a 6 iron and the numbers were close. The main difference the i200 with Nippons spun about 350 rpm more and launched a degree more. The Ball speed and carry distance were very similar. Both heads felt great, Forged a bit nicer on center hits the i200's better on miss hits. I was also hitting an i500 and both felt better.

Would you say from what you saw that you wouldn’t expect the Mizuno combo to provide substantially better flight/numbers, and not worth the change from the pings?

I'm going tbh I'm a forged guy and tbh I never hit the i200 irons, but there is a reason I've honestly never liked ping irons because the feel and they seem to look to much offset to my eye

Mizuno had always head my heart from back when I was a junior golfer playing the mp 29s , it's just hard to explain that flush feeling difference, but the forgiveness I would think if the 900 and the 200 would be close

For me there was a substantial difference between the 900 Forged and i200. I was a Ping loyalist and played the I5 for ten years. I wanted and purchased the i200, but could never find a shaft to perform. Compared to the 900 Forged the i200 launched 2* higher and had on average 1,000 rpm’s more spin.
